1 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2017

Car acceleration was uncontrollable, unable to accelerate, stalling during acceleration. Car will accelerate to 40 and then drop to 0 in a matter of seconds, all while accelerator is being pressed.

2 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 04/24/2016

The problem initially began because I had to brake hard to avoid an accident on the freeway and the brakes failed. After restarting the vehicle the brakes went back to normal. A week later as I was driving down a street, I braked normally to pull in to a business parking lot and the brakes failed almost completely. The pedal went down to the floor and would not stop the vehicle in a safe distance. Also, they had a spongy feel. They would not properly grip until I turned the car off and then on again. Had there been another vehicle in front of me I would have hit them, or if this happened on a local freeway here in houston, TX it could be potentially fatal. After researching the problem, I learned that many other individuals have had the same exact issue. The problem appears to be a faulty abs modulator.

3 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 11/25/2015

While driving the vehicle lurched, lost power. Wrench lit up on dashboard. Had to pull off road, turn off car. Waited 5 minutes, proceeded with drive. No further incident occurred. Took to dealership and was told the repair would exceed in excess of $900. Was told the pcm or throttle body needs to be replaced. If there is a known issue with an extended warranty but not our VIN number, why was that warranty not extended? and what about all the people driving these cars with this problem has anyone been hurt yet? if Ford doesn't want to pay for the fix they should at least give people a warning regarding the issue.

4 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 11/12/2014

Was in 4th gear, all of a sudden, the speed started to increase without me touching the peddle. Shifted into neutral, rpm's started to rev, all of sudden, rpm's dropped and the car shut off while I was on a main road.

5 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 07/11/2014

The contact owns a 2008 Ford Fusion. While driving approximately 35 mph, the check engine warning indicator illuminated. The contact turned off and restarted the vehicle, but the indicator remained illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a mechanic for diagnostic testing. The vehicle was not included in the voluntary recall for NHTSA campaign number: 13n03 (throttle body). The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 98,000.

6 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 02/06/2014

Throttle body needs to be replaced. While driving at highway speeds the vehicle lurched, lost power and acceleration. Wrench lit up on dashboard. Had to pull off freeway, turn off car. Waited 5 minutes, proceeded with drive. No further incident occurred. Took to dealership and was told the repair would exceed in excess of $700. If there is a known issue with an extended warranty, why was that warranty not extended to us?.

7 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 12/01/2013

I started my car and it sounded & seemed normal. However, after driving less than 2 miles, my engine suddenly decelerated and the rpms dropped dramatically. I tried to accelerate and it would not increase speed. I was able to get off the road safely. I had to have my car towed. The mechanic determined that the problem was due to a faulty power train control module which impacts the ignition coils and the estimated cost of repair is $2100! one of my ignition coils was melted. Ford has issued a technical service bulletin on this issue, however, they do not deem this a safety issue! cars that just stop running or decelerate quickly is most definitely a safety issue. I can think of many scenarios where this issue would cause injury or perhaps even death. Had I been on a freeway or driving at a greater speed where there was more traffic, I could certainly have ended up in an accident with another vehicle. I researched this concern and found that I am not alone and there have many others affected by the same exact situation. Ford is of the opinion that this should be the responsibility of the car owner and they do not hold themselves accountable. I understand how warranties work and I realize that cars age. However, this issue has nothing to do with wear and tear or age. This is a faulty piece of equipment that is causing a safety issue when it hampers a vehicle's ability to continue in a forward motion at a normal rate of speed. Any help you can provide on this issue would be appreciated.

While having his foot on the brakes he pulled the floor mat back with his foot and got the pedal became unstuck. The engine was still revving excessively.
