1 Car Will Not Accelerate problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2014

Tl- the contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving approximately 70 mph the vehicle suddenly shut off. The contact was able to steer the vehicle off the road and restarted the engine and the vehicle operated as normal. The contact indicated that during the incident the check engine and service sensor lights had illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who replaced a computer but the vehicle continued to experience the same failures. No further information was available. The contact indicated that later while driving approximately 60 mph the speed suddenly decelerated and the vehicle would not accelerate. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was 150,000. Jft.

2 Car Will Not Accelerate problem

Failure Date: 07/12/2014

While driving on the highway the accelerator suddenly stopped working and had to pull over in high speeds when my vehicle could not accelerate. Was towed and autobody shop found that the car was in "limp mode". Engine code p2111 throttle actuator control system (tac) stuck open. Diagnosis shows an internal fault with throttle position sensor circuit.

3 Car Will Not Accelerate problem

Failure Date: 11/04/2013

While driving approximately 45mph the car suddenly started running rough and lost all power. Rpm decreased dramatically and the car would not accelerate, however the engine did not stop running. The wrench indicator came on as I managed to safely get to a parking lot. I turned off the engine and waited several minutes. I re-started the engine and drove home with no further incident. Since the incident I took the car into a reputable shop for proper diagnostic which resulted in no indication or failure codes from the tests. There was no forewarning for the failure incident and I will say that I was in a precarious and dangerous traffic condition when the failure occurred. Through further research I found the following: unfortunately this failure seems to be occurring more frequently and linked to a throttle body problem. The diagnostic codes for this failure apparently get erased when the car engine is cycled off then on, preventing a diagnostic test from capturing the code necessary for analysis (unless a diagnostic is performed while the incident is occurring). If the problem is a faulty throttle body the failure code should be p2111 or p2112. Ford has changed the part number of the throttle body replacement part from the original part causing suspicion to be cast on the original part. This warrants a safety recall due to the nature of the failure and possible injury potential when failure occurs in traffic, but has not been recognized by Ford . . . . . Yet.

4 Car Will Not Accelerate problem

Failure Date: 10/05/2013

While merging onto the interstate, the car's acceleration stopped and the car would not accelerate, found out the throttle body was failing.

5 Car Will Not Accelerate problem

Failure Date: 04/12/2013

On multiple occasions my car has started to stall out as I began to accelerate. The first time happened when exiting the highway, where I came to a yield sign, I then proceeded to accelerate onto the road after yielding and the car would not accelerate and started to have jumpy motions and kept revving every time I would try to step on the gas pedal. I didn't think much of it at that time. Then one day on another exit onto the highway with busy traffic I slowed down to see if traffic was clear to merge and when I went to accelerate into traffic it repeated the same symptoms. The last time it happened was I was exiting the highway and once again tried to merge into traffic and it happened again but it also happened at the red light directly after the merge. I was not trying to accelerate too quickly on any of the occasions but it makes it extremely dangerous to pull into traffic. I took the car into the Ford dealership to get the problem checked out and they came back that the electronic throttle body on my 2010 vehicle was bad and that they would have to replace it. They then proceeded to tell me that the part was on backorder and I was number 2 on the list to receive the part because they have three cars in the shop with the same problem. This seems to be a regular occurrence with my type of vehicle in my search for answers I have seen multiple forums with people posting about this problem. The Ford associate also told me that the part should be recalled but he wasn't sure that it ever would. As someone who drives frequently on the highway this is a huge concern to me that I will go to accelerate into traffic and end up seriously injured because my car won't accelerate. Needless to say it has been almost two weeks since I took my car into the dealership and I am still waiting on the part from Ford.
