The contact owns a 2011 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving at 60 mph, the steering wheel seized as the service advancetrac and power steering warning lights illuminated. The contact was able to pull over to the emergency lane and the vehicle was towed to the contact residence. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 15v340000 (steering). The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 97,000.
My Ford Fusion sport was manufactured in July of 2010 and the anti-lock brake hydraulic control unit has stop functioning according to the autonation of orange park florida service department. This should be covered by safety recall 19s54.
While driving, the car faces a sudden loss of power steering and a "service advancetrac" warning message comes on at the same time. The warning light for the traction control stays on. Power steering resumed after some time but the "service advancetrac" warning message and traction control warning light stayed on. This happens almost weekly and seems very dangerous. I was very lucky to not have this happen while on a freeway or at a turn.
Ford offered recall 15s18 to replace electric power steering assist on 2011-2012 Ford Fusions. The manufacture date for the recall begins on sept 07, 2011. However, my Ford Fusion, manufactured one month earlier (August 07, 2011), has the same issue. The dash message center says "service power steering now" and "service advancetrac". At approximately 85,000 miles I lost power steering at 75mph while passing an 18 wheeler on the interstate. I lost control of the vehicle and had to rapidly decelerate and pull over. I almost wrecked into the bar-ditch, as the steering column violently jerked the vehicle to the right. Now, I still have complete loss of power steering and my local Ford dealership informed me that recall 15s18 won't cover my vehicle repair since it was manufactured a month too early. According to my research, this problem actually affects a number of Ford makes and models, from 2008-2015. The problem is frequent and persistent among 2010-2012 Fusions. Ford should be liable, especially when safety is the issue. The malfunction is incredibly dangerous, and Ford is about to have yet another massive lawsuit for this.
Takata inflators I recovered a letter 3 monts ago saying my airbag needed to be replaced. The letter stated that I would get a call or email telling me when to taky care for repairs I have not heard anything else. Also my steering has gone out in my car I can not get anyone to tell me why they just keep saying I can fix it. Its becoming to the point were I can't drive. What do I need to do.
2011 Ford Fusion. The power steering service warning light was illuminated, the vehicle was taken to 2 Ford dealerships for service. Both dealership repaired and cleared the codes, but its still a problem. Its been a problem for 6 months. They want to charge me 3000. 00 to replace the whole steering system. Another issue I have is the driver door will not open from the inside. I have to put the window down to open the door from the outside. This move is unsafe. Ford should be aware of this.
After many failed temps from Ford for my body throttle issues & Fords dealer refusal to replace the throttle body, bc the code isn't present when they hook up they're device to it(Ford rules). Even though is known with Ford they code will clear when the car is turned off or in my case sometimes shut off by itself when the wrench light appears. 06/02/15ford dealer did a pcm update for the t. Body & was good to go. Less than a month later issues started again. It has happened countless of times with my bf & w. My kids in the car. I called davidson Ford & spoke to the manger where he stated not to shut the car off so the code doesnt clear & I asked if the tow guy would leave the car on to bring it here. He goes well no! they weren¿t of help ever. On 03/07/16 heading home my car went in limp mode & steering went stiff. I couldnt control the car & ended up hitting a guard rail. My car got damage & hurt my back. The officer stated I was lucky bc 20 more ft I would of hit the telephone pole. The tow truck guy also stated the car wasn¿t safe to drive. The nxt day my bf called Ford(who open a case)& state farm our insur. Co. We went to n. Side collison were we explained the situation & recalls on my car. He said he would try & talk to Ford to see what he could do. He couldn¿t do anything & we had to deal with Ford. This collison center was on a time frame & real pushy. So I had the car transferred to alan buyer collison center who works w. My insur. & Ford. We¿ve played phone tag with Ford csd. The claim was sent to Fords legal general council whose supposed to handle the case & had 15 business to respond. They haven¿t responded or try to make contact with us!I was also told by Fords csd not to have the collison center do anything till we hear from the legal counsel. My car has been at the c. C 62+days untouched. I upload letter I sent to Ford company.
I started my vehicle and let it warm up a couple of minutes before I left my job on cold night. When I backed out of my spot and went forward my service power steering message came on and then service advanced track came on. When I stopped at the light to turn I noticed that I had no power steering. I seen online that there was a recall for this issue. I called my local dealership and was informed my vehicle was not listed in this recall. I then called Ford motor CO. And neither party could tell me why my vehicle was not listed in this recall when it was indeed a 2011 Ford Fusion without a 3. 5 and had the steering issue as described in the recall. Not having power steering all at once with no prior warning can be a very dangerous thing. Luckily in my case it was not a busy intersection at that time. I don't understand why mine or other vehicles with the same issue and possibly the same part is failing yet not covered under Fords recall 15s18.
When I started the vehicle has loss steering and the "power steering assis fault" message appear. The dealer said that need to be replaced. Ford has a recall for that part (the electric power steering rack) but my VIN number is not included.
¿3 may 2013 (mileage 32,800) moab, utah. Driving in the mountains around moab for my daughters wedding. One passenger in the car beside myself. While driving around a sharp curve, all the electronics in the car went dead. The engine shut down, all lights on the dash, the radio, ac all stopped working. Power steering, power brakes were non-functioning. This happened a total of five times. ¿26 August 2015 (mileage approximately 55,600) time: 6:00pm. Driving home from work. I¿d stopped at a street light and when I pulled sharply out onto main road, the car went dark again and all electrical systems shut down. I quickly restarted it by shifting into neutral and starting it with the key. Three blocks later, it happened again. This was the first time it had happened on a straightaway. I was driving by myself. ¿6 September 2015 (mileage approximately 55,950 between san juan capistrano and lake elsinore, CA. Coming out of a sharp curve in the road while going uphill all electrical components of the car shut off. I shifted into neutral, turned the key, and the engine started up again. ¿19 November 2015 (mileage approximately 56,751) went over a speed bump with another passenger in the car. The Ford Fusion shut down again, and after I restarted it, two hundred yards later did it again. ¿Ford has tried to locate the problem three times. Finally replaced throttle body on 22 sept. And said that fixed problem. It didn¿t! Ford corporation customer service now refuses to return my last five calls.
I was driving along a road at 50 mph which was the speed limit , all of a sudden I get signals on the car that there is a power steering malfuntion. The wheel locked up and I could not even turn it to get my car to safety. I hit a sign due to me not being able to turn my vehicle, my foot was jammed and I was tossed into the steering wheel.
Takata recall - dealership was unable to replace and gave me a year timeline for parts. Also need 15v340 parts. With 2 recalls I've been unable to drive the car safely. I have tried to sell the vehicle without success for 6 months. Ford has an obligation to fix vehicle or be subject to recover my losses of depreciation during sale.
Started my car on Saturday morning at 9am, put it into reverse to back out of my spot, when the "power steering assist fault" and "service advance-trac" errors showed on the display. I promptly shut the vehicle down and waited one minute and restarted it, the errors were still present. I am contacting the local dealership. Thankfully this did not happen while driving on the interstate.
Driving down the highway came up to a slight bend and when I went to turn the wheel I noticed that it was hard to turn. Thinking it was tire going flat I went to get off the highway when I went to get off on the exit the steering was almost impossible to turn had to slam on the breaks to avoid driving off the exit ramp. With all the other complaints on here it would have been nice to know that this could happen.
The power steering quit without warning while driving and also disabled the electronic stability control.
I started the car and I got a stabilitrac/power steering error message. The power steering will not work. I tried waiting and restarting as I read online that is a way to fix it short term and it does not fix the problem. It has happened in the past but I did not record the date or mileage.
The 2011 Ford power steering unit failed gave a waring to service the car. The dealer found nothing wrong. Vehicle is not safe to drive post failure and the problem is not repeatable at the dealer. The dashboard reads "steering assist failure'.
Was driving the vehicle on the highway at 70 mph when power steering and electronic stability control suddenly quit working and "service now" message appeared. Reset when I was able to pull off the road and turn the car off and on. Was driving straight at the time, thankfully.
When starting vehicle red brake light on, abs light, traction control light, check brake system message and service advance trac message on verified by Ford service technician: ids test had code for b1342, internal fault in control module, needs abs control module replaced at cost of $860. In researching this on the internet I found that there are many complaints about this faulty module and feel that this should be recalled by Ford motor company.
Pulled into the gas station and my service power steering now came on and service autotrac came on and I now have no power steering. Called Ford and they are telling me either a gear box or rack and pinion and estimate between 1500 and 2000 for repairs.
I was backing out of my drive way, my car acts like it was going to die my power steering goes out. Kn the message center it says power steering asstis fault and then service advance trac. Have not had power steering since but it has came back on for about an hour at the most three differnet times.
Turning corner to park, loss of power steering. Service advancetrac light and also anti slip light came on. I took to dealer and they just reset codes. Worked for 3 days andnthen total failure of advanctrac. Suburban Ford now says I need whole new rack and pinion assembly. Looks like this is a major issue with units.
I was driving into a parking lot and my power steering light came on to service soon I parked my car then when I went to leave and started my car, the light went to service now and I had no power steering at all. I am a college student and just bought this car less than 5 months ago and I am very lucky that this didnt happen on my way home while driving through the mountain areas I have to drive through from college or I could have had a fatal or serious accident. I dont have the money to fix this and I believe Ford motor company should recall and repair this serious issue and since there is several complaints.
Power steering failed. Received indication of advancetrac needing service as well as power steering failure. I have noticed some issues of this nature for over one year and 15,000 miles as when the car is first started and put into reverse there would be, on occassion, no power steering and I'd get advancetrac needs service warning. By putting the car in drive I could sometimes get the power steering back or if I shut the engine off and restarted. Power steering completely failed now at 43,000 miles and I've been told by the Ford dealership that the module as well as the steering gear--the whole system--has to be replaced per diagnostics.
Mpg was not adding up though it was just me than I would notice spots of gasoline on the floor and did a inspection and looked normal until filled gas a bit higher than half and started leaking. And some loss of steering would happen here and there and decided to inspect it to couple of codes would come up in a dtc test.
While driving with my family my service advancetrac and service power steering warning lights came on. After we got home and went to go back out later our power steering was completely gone. Car isn't driveable as it has no power steering at all. Very dangerous situation my family was put into by this problem!!.
While driving one Saturday evening out of no where the car idles down to about 5 mph until it stops , the steering wheel and gas petal locks up and my husband and I are stuck in the middle of the road with traffic behind us, thankfully there was no accident. I then put the car in park, switched to key back to turn it off and back on to try and move it from the road to the gas station that we were right in front of (thank god). We eventually got the car in the parking lot and noticed the wrench light and the check engine light were both on. We did our research and found out it is a problem concerning the throttle body, in which I heard is very costly. The problem stopped for about a week then started again and happens randomly while in traffic, again thank god no accident has occurred. This car is my husband and I only means of transportation right now and I am 4&1/2 months pregnant so we need this car to travel not only to and from work but also my doctor visits. I don't know if anyone else has experienced this problem but it's a huge safety problem and we've only had the car for about 9 months.
While driving car, steering locked and power steering assist fault message appeared on dashboard.
Power steering went out on a 55 mph road and the whining noise it makes is unbearable.
When I first started my car, I notice the chimes going off letting me know it was an error or warning. I noticed in the dash it read power steering assist fault. I noticed the steering wheel was very hard to turn. I immediatley turned off the car and restarted and the message went away. The very next morning the exact same thing happened. So four days later it happened only to find out me restarting would not make the message go away. So now I am without power steering and I have read so many complaints of the same and nothing is being done to correct the issue. Nothing will happen unless someone gets hurt or god forbid killed. Its too late then. Ford does not want to be responsible.
Tl- the contact owns 2011 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving 25 mph the vehicle experienced a loss of power however it still had some electrical functions. Prior to this failure the vehicle was remedied under Fords customer satisfaction program 13n03 however the failure recurred. The vehicle had the throttle body replaced and the vehicle reprogrammed 3 times. The failure occurred 7 times. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 38,500. Kh.
While driving along the highway my gauges on the instrument panel went out momentarily, and then came back on with the message "service advancetrac. " I didn't think much about it because it went away when I turned my car off and back on. A couple weeks later (starting June 16th) the instrument panel kept going out every time I drove the vehicle, and multiple messages came up in the message center about getting my brake system checked and all four tire pressures were low. Along with these other message center malfunctions, the anti-theft security system was malfunctioning and not recognizing either key I have for the car. A couple of times it took 20 minutes of trying and hoping to get the vehicle to recognize the key. I took it in to the dealership, and now I have to pay $2000 to get my power steering module replaced. I am completely disappointed that my 2011 Ford needs to have its power steering replaced at not even 60000 miles.
While driving to work all of a sudden my advance trac light went on and there was no steering at all. All the lights went dead and I had to stop in the middle of the street. I tried to get the car to the side of the road before stopping but wasn't able to maneuver it, it was too hard to steer. After stopping short I finally was able to force the steering wheel to turn and moved to the side of the road. I read the manual and it said turn off the car and restart, I did and nothing happened. I called aaa and they towed me to Ford in toms river, NJ. It cost me $2,152. 14 for the steering rack to be replaced as well as having my car for 6 days and having to rent a car for additional costs.
The power steering is not working. The vehicle is hard to make turns. I only had this car almost 3 years and I purchased it used. The power steering is gone and I have seen a lot of complaints about this model with power steering problems. I know there should be some kind of recall on this vehicle. I can not afford to have this fixed. I am hoping that you all will check into this. It is unsafe. I am considering the news about this because I keep getting the run around. I love my car and I just can't afford to have it fixed because of this mechanical problem.
I was driving at 35 mph, and slowing down to about 25 mph to make a right hand turn to enter a merge lane, and my Fusion's message center flashed "service advancetrac" and "service power steering now" messages, followed by the audible chimes. I noticed a failure of the power steering system, and it required great strength and effort to get the vehicle to turn right to enter the merge lane, almost took me into the standard lane. Steering was extremely difficult from that point on, especially at low speeds. Ford dealer diagnosed the issue, said the pscm had failed. They had to replace the steering rack because all the electronics are integrated into it.
