The contact owns a 2014 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving 55-65 mph, the engine made an abnormal revving sound. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact stated upon arriving to the residence and inspecting the vehicle, she noticed that there was a significant amount of air coming out of the gas tank flap. The contact stated that the failure occurred when the gas tank was less than half tank full. Additionally, the contact stated that after refueling the vehicle at the gas station, the vehicle failed to start up immediately. The contact stated that the accelerator pedal had to be depressed several times to start. Additionally, the contact stated that the rearview camera image was inaccurate and displayed objects and pedestrians on the opposite side of where they were physically located. The contact also stated that the rear-view camera image turned black intermittently while reversing. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle was not covered under an unknown recall for the fuel tank and canister purge valve inspection and repair. The failure mileage was approximately 180,000.

The contact was concerned that he had carbon monoxide poisoning related to a faulty canister purge valve. However, no medical attention was received. The contact opened the fuel cap and there was excessive air pressure inside the tank. The contact stated that on several occasions while driving at various speeds, the vehicle lost motive power and stalled; however, the contact was able to restart the vehicle and drove home safely. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 174,000.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that on multiple occasion; the vehicle failed to start up after refueling the vehicle with gasoline. The contact also stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle stalled with the check engine and manufacturer control warning lights illuminated. The contact had initially taken the vehicle to a dealer where they diagnosed the vehicle with a fuel evaporation leak. As the failure persisted, the contact took the vehicle to angela krause Ford (1575 mansell rd, alpharetta, GA 30009) where she was informed that there were recalls on her vehicle for the canister purge valve which the dealer related to the failure; however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The contact was referred to NHTSA. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 165,000.
