1 Wheel problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2025

Power steering rack and pinion.

2 Wheel problem

Failure Date: 11/07/2024

We are the owners of a 2014 Ford Fusion model vehicle. We took this vehicle to a local Ford service dealer to have the tires rotated. Dealer service manager told us they could not do the tire rotate because the chrome plating on the wheel lug nuts had swollen and their wrench would not fit the lug nuts. The offered non oem replacement lugs nuts for our cost of $134. 95 plus tax. I believe this is a safety issue as we could be stranded along any roadway should we have a flat tire needing us to use our spare, and unable to remove the flat tire. Our vehicle has a total of about 60,813 miles shown on the odometer. Apparently this swollen lug nut issue is a known problem with this vehicle? can you help us resolve this?.

3 Wheel problem

Failure Date: 08/16/2023

I had to have all 20 lugnuts replaced. I had 3 different shops tell me that they are all swollen and needed to be replaced. Lugnuts shouldn't all be defective this quickly. I think Ford used cheap parts.

4 Wheel problem

Failure Date: 07/05/2023

I had a blowout on the highway and the tire tools supplied by Ford do not fit the lug nuts. The aaa driver that came also had a very hard time removing the lug nuts. I bought a lug nut socket set to be sure I had the correct tool to remove my wheels but nothing in the kit fits correctly. I had to beat a 19mm socket on to remove the lugs but that completely destroyed the lugs so that they need replaced. As for the recall on the shifter cable and brake line, I paid for both of those repairs when both parts failed before the recall notice was issued. Ford will not reimburse me for the repairs due to the mileage was over 150,000 at the time of repair.

5 Wheel problem

Failure Date: 08/03/2022

I took my Ford Fusion in for its 50000 mile maintenance. The tech was unable to remove the lug nuts because they were swollen due to the poor design by Ford. I had to replace all 20 lug nuts at a cost of $200. If I did not replace them I would be unable to change a flat tire if I were to have one.

6 Wheel problem

Failure Date: 06/30/2022

I have made 4 separate attempts to mount new tires. I researched the "swollen lug nut" issue and purchased 10 new lug nuts as well as a 18. 5mm x 19. 5mm flip socket for the shop to use. That has even failed and my new tires are still not installed. I have spent in excess of $85 for these lug nuts and flip socket.

7 Wheel problem

Failure Date: 06/27/2022

The lug nuts on all the tries won't come off. It seems like the stainless steel cap is no longer connected to the actual lug nut making it impossible to get off with out ripping the cap off and then getting a socket on the lug nut. I need to change a tire out but am unable to unless I destroy the lug nut cap.

8 Wheel problem

Failure Date: 06/04/2022

Was recently notified by my local Ford dealer that my lug nuts on my vehicle needs to be replaced due to swelling. My dealer advised that "wheel damage will happen" due to this swelling. It appears that this is a known issue by Ford who again has decided to put profits over customer safety. The dealer made is clear that this issue is a vehicle safety issue. I feel that a recall on these defective lug nuts should be ordered for the benefit of public safety. It funny this was not an issue until after my extended warranty expired.

9 Wheel problem

Failure Date: 04/19/2022

Had to replace lug nuts, dealer said we’re swollen and may make changing tires a problem if not replaced.

10 Wheel problem

Failure Date: 04/05/2022

While driving I hit a piece of metal which caused my driver rear tire to go flat. When I got out to change to the tire I was unable to do so because the lug wrench would not fit the lug nuts. So I had to call roadside assists to change it. They said it is a common problem with Ford, some of them are one size and others are another.

11 Wheel problem

Failure Date: 03/08/2022

I hit a very deep pit hole on the interstate causing a tire blowout on front driver side tire as well as a cracked rim on back drivers side. As I go to put the spare on I can't get the lug nuts off. The tool in the spare kit doesn't fit, resulting me to call a tow truck who couldn't get them off either. It took me 2 days to figure out the lug nuts were swollen and this was a common problem with Ford Fusions. My local Ford shop would not assist in the matter at all and still refuse to replace them. They should in fact replace them and also the cost of the damage caused by this. If the nuts were regular lug nuts I could have remedied the situation my self. No police or injuries were involved just lots of stress and money out of my pocket to fix it.

12 Wheel problem

Failure Date: 02/11/2022

Swollen lug nuts that prevent removal of wheel.

13 Wheel problem

Failure Date: 11/25/2021

The wheel lug nuts on this vehicle are faulty. When I purchased new tires the tire installer said these lug nuts are faulty and not safe.

14 Wheel problem

Failure Date: 09/14/2021

Swollen lug nuts. This is being ridiculous that this has not been recalled yet.

15 Wheel problem

Failure Date: 12/30/2020

Tire in for service, firestone rep stated lug nuts need to be replaced, they are "mushrooming" which could cause an inability to remove the lug nuts in case of roadside emergency.

16 Wheel problem

Failure Date: 04/22/2020

Tl the contact owns a 2014 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while attempting to have a set of tires installed on the vehicle, the contact was informed by the mechanic that the lug nuts were swollen. The contact was informed of possible damages or stripping of the lug nuts if an attempt was made to remove the wheels from the vehicle. A dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was contacted and informed of the failure, but offered no additional assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 77,000.

17 Wheel problem

Failure Date: 11/03/2019

I hit a huge pothole that blew my tire on interstate 57 south bound near monee (approximately 2 miles north of the peotone exit).

18 Wheel problem

Failure Date: 03/08/2018

My tires constantly seem like they slide when the roads are moist, although I have taken the car to the dealership and they say the tread on the tires is fine. On Thursday, March 9, 2018 I was coming into work and there was a light layer of snow on the ground I hit the brakes as I turned the corner of a parking lot and the car would not stop. To avoid hitting a tree I had to turn the steering wheel causing a break in the wheel, need for a wheel alignment and a new right front bearing, $903. 42 worth of damage. I checked to see if there was ice of some sort but there was nothing.

19 Wheel problem

Failure Date: 12/23/2017

Tires wear out prematurely at 20-25k miles in my case every 10-12 months. Tires have been replaced every 10-12 months since car was new. This is not normal by any means. Someone is going to have a blowout due to the extremely fast wear on the tires. This could severely injure or kill someone. Tire picture attached is one year old and has been typical of one year tire wear since car was brand new.

20 Wheel problem

Failure Date: 08/31/2017

"takata recall lost power steering ,stability light and anti skid lights came on was on a side street , moving about 20 mph when it just went out . If this had happened at high speeds on the interstate someone would have been killed luckily my husband was with me and was managed to drive it home, this has a lot of complaints on line and a recall should be issued !!!.

21 Wheel problem

Failure Date: 08/07/2017

Swollen lug nuts securing the wheel(s) to the vehicle. While experiencing a flat tire I had two road service calls come to remove the flat tire with my spare without success as their lug wrenches could not remove any including all twenty wheel lug nuts. I had to have car towed to Ford dealership where I was informed that this is a common occurrence with Fusion lug nuts. Doing an internet web search, I found that this indeed is a unknown common problem!.

22 Wheel problem

Failure Date: 05/22/2017

Lug nuts on both rear tires are coming off while driving. O n may 10th it happened and I managed to tighten them and make it home. On may 22nd it happened again. My 12 year old son was with me and I kept feeling like my tires were off as I tried to stop and check it out I lost control and ran off into a ditch and crashed into a fence. I called police and spent 3 hours. The only way to load vehicle was to tighten the lug nuts from preventing more damage to the vehicle. I am very upset his happened. I do not know what would cause all lug nuts to come loose for no reason not only once but twice and cause this traumatic experience. I do not even want this car anymore I am terrifiedto get in it even if it was fixed. My son doesnt even want to ride in another vehicle again.

23 Wheel problem

Failure Date: 05/20/2017

The contact owns a 2014 Ford Fusion. While the vehicle was at the dealer for maintenance, it was discovered that the wheel lug nuts were faulty and had expanded and enlarged. The wrench provided by the manufacturer would no longer fit over the lug nuts to tighten and secure the wheels to the vehicle. The cause of the failure was not determined. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 45,000.

24 Wheel problem

Failure Date: 04/18/2016

25 Wheel problem

Failure Date: 12/01/2015

I bought a used 2014 Ford Fusion in the summer with no driving problems, but when I was driving the car in the winter the front end of the car shook really bad at speeds over 35 to 45 miles mpr took the car to Ford dealer, they said this is a problem that Ford knows about with the 19"wheel but they do not tell the custermers about it when selling the cars. So when winters comes around again I have to buy a different set of wheels to be able to drive the car safely this up coming winter. This happens when driving on the city street and get really bad on the highway.

26 Wheel problem

Failure Date: 11/13/2015

From 3/15 t0 11/15 3 of my 4 original tires(side walls)which are michelin green radial x,size 235/50 r17 96h ruptured while driving. The range of miles when this happened was from about 14000 to about 23000 far below any life expectancy. Tthe first 2 tire failures occurred slowly so I was able to have them mixed by fullerton Ford dealership in somerville n. J. The last episode was more scary. I was driving on route 18 in old bridge,n. J. When the left rear tire catastrophically breached, and I had to pull of the road to avoid any accident. Fortunnately it was 10am and the traffic was very light, otherwise the result may have been more serious. A quick search of the internet reviled similar accidents, but there has not been any recall. I firmly believe that an investigation on these and other tires with reduced side walls should be critically looked at,before it becomes endemic. I look forward to your analysis.

27 Wheel problem

Failure Date: 10/17/2015

We just purchased the car yesterday and so far we are having 2 issues. The first is the shifting of the gears when driving between first and second which can be rough. It feels like downshifting more than speed pick up. Also we were driving on the highway and our rear passenger tire blew out just like that and we nearly lost control of the vehicle. Very scary. Took the vehicle back to Ford to look into.

28 Wheel problem

Failure Date: 01/15/2015

Driving down the road around 35-40 mph coming up to a light, the vehicle started to accelerate by itself, had to hit the brakes, thankfully it stopped. My wife was driving and was not using cruise control. The weather outside was cold. This is the first time this has happened. I hope it is the last. This is a Ford Fusion hybrid with the 2. 0 l engine. Being a hybrid there is no spare tire. They have run flat tires. If you get a flat tire late at night and cell phone service is bad you are in trouble. I hope this never happens to someone.

29 Wheel problem

Failure Date: 12/08/2014

Was driving car in the parking lot leaving work and was unable to turn the steering wheel. Steering wheel had locked up on it, I struggled to turn the wheel and it wouldn't turn. Ended up crashing into a concrete light pole. Was only going about 15 mph and no airbags deployed. Hit my head on the steering wheel and knee into the dash. Had to go to the hospital by ambulance. Also, the week prior, my low tire indicator light kept coming on and every time I would check the tire pressure it was fine.

30 Wheel problem

Failure Date: 02/28/2014

Factory oem goodyear eagle LS-2s claim to be all season. From the first test drive these tires failed to have anything close to reasonable traction on snow and ice, resulting in the sales-rep being barely able to back the car out of the lot for a test-drive. Needless to say I wasn't thrilled about them. After getting the car onto the road, it seemed to do better, so I went ahead and purchased the vehicle. After owning it for less than 48 hours, had several incidents with stopping, cornering and acceleration where the traction control, anti-lock breaks all functioning normally, just the tires not having any sort of reasonable grip or traction. In one instance, I slid through an intersection when trying to stop at 5mph. In another instance it took me most of a minute to go through a single-lane intersection because the front tires were turning so slowly because the traction control was stuttering the wheel turn as the tires kept losing grip/traction. Repeated complaints through the sales and service department, even with the sales people admitting the tires were bad for winter and the service manager flat out saying, and I quote, "those ls2s are shit for winter", nothing was done to replace them with a comparable tire that was a true all-season tire. Complaining to the factory only nets me repeated instructions to pay Ford to do a diagnostic on the car, refusing to even focus on the tire problem. These tires from goodyear should never have been allowed to be marked as all-season. At best they are fair-weather spring/summer/fall tires, at worst, they are dry area summer only tires. Like others, I've had issues with traction on just wet roads, let alone snowy or icy.

31 Wheel problem

Failure Date: 02/14/2014

Our 2014 Ford Fusion has always had an off balance feel when driving it. It feels like the wheels on the back end are seriously out of balance, alignment and feels like it all of a sudden will pull to one side when driving over 55 mph. Keeps eating tires. Have had 10 tires on it since 2014 and has 79,000 miles on it. We only drive good highways. The company has reported the alignment is fine. Between the belts breaking on the tires and the car, I can't wait to pay it off to trade it in. Scares me to drive it. This has been on ongoing problem with the care since we got it, so the date I have to click doesn't explain that it is ongoing.
