The contact owns a 2015 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the front passenger’s side door failed to remain securely closed. The vehicle was taken to a local independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed and determined that the door latch needed to be replaced. The vehicle was taken to two other local independent mechanics, where it was diagnosed, and the failure was confirmed. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the door latch cable needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired due to the cost. In addition, the contact stated that as a temporary fix, the front passenger’s door was held closed with an extension cord but remained slightly open. The manufacturer was made not aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 99,359.

2 Latches/locks/linkage problem

Failure Date: 08/29/2023

The contact owns a 2015 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, the driver’s side door failed to close as needed. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and confirmed that the vehicle was not included in a recall. The contact referenced NHTSA campaign number: 20v177000 (latches/locks/linkage) however, the VIN was not included. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.

3 Latches/locks/linkage problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2023

The contact owns a 2015 Ford Fusion. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 20v177000 (latches/locks/linkages) and 22v413000 (power train), however, the parts to do the recall repairs were not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the steering wheel seized. Additionally, the traction control warning light was illuminated. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000. Failure Date: 03/23/2020

The contact owns a 2015 Ford Fusion. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 20v177000 (latches/locks/linkages) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact stated that without warning, the driver's side rear door latch fractured. The contact stated that a rope was tied to the door handle to keep the door closed. The vehicle was taken to tropical Ford (9900 orange blossom trail, orlando, FL 32837) where it was diagnosed however, the contact was informed that parts were not yet available. VIN tool confirms parts not available. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was approximately 73,000.
