general problems of the 2015 Ford Fusion - part 1

Over the course of 3 weeks I started to notice a strong smell of gasoline after filling my fuel tank that lasted for about the first quarter of the tank. I did look around the car and under it to see if I could observe a leak, but saw nothing upon visual inspection. After about 3 weeks I observed a very strong smell of gasoline when I walked out to the car in the morning and observed gasoline on the rim of the passenger side tire as well as on the ground by the tire. At that point I looked up recalls on the 2015 Fusion and did find one on the fuel system but was advised that it is not active on my VIN. I took my car to a local shop where they found that both fuel senders were wet and leaking thus causing the fuel leak.

After fueling in the car up I drive it and it stalls out while driving.

Previously, about 5-6 times the car experienced sputtering and then stalling shortly after a warm engine restart. After 2 tries, the car would continue running. No check engine. No codes stored. Final time (before a scheduled shop visit) it stalled on a busy 4-lane road at rush hour and would not restart. Wife managed to manuever into the middle turn lane. Would not restart. Car displayed (unhelpfully) to check the owners manual. Towed to firestone who found bad spark plugs (in particular cylinder 3) showing coolant leakage. Firestone seemed to be aware of the systemic issues (said replacing plugs was not solving the root problem, but they don't do engine replacements. Estimated that the car might run correctly for maybe a year. Car stalled again 3 days later). Coolant level was low. My experience seems similar to many others (ie. , 2013-19 engine coolant leak). Car at dealership.

My vehicle will not turn on after refueling, but there are no signs of visible damage. The check engine light remains illuminated, and the code read for the O2 sensors. The rpm jump up and down at the slightest push of the accelerator, and occasionally the engine will shut off when rpm drops to idle speed.

In July 2021 I had the cpv replaced because the purge valve was stuck open. Now, less than 2 years later, 45,000 miles later, I am once again having the same issue. Code p1450. Unable to bleed up fuel tank. Just like last time. My vehicle check engine light is on and after I get gas my car starts sputters and does not want to start.

Car have trouble accelerating and shifting into gear. It started randomly sometimes it will shift extremely hard and then won’t accelerate after 45 minutes.

As I was driving, it felt as if my car had turned off or had no fuel, but no engine lights came on and I had fuel in my tank. Also all my electrical stuff stayed on, only lost power on the accelerator. My safety and others safety was put at risk because there were no warning signs I just had no "go power" and no one around me knew my car had no power which could lead to an accident, serious injury or death; if on highway traveling at high speeds and it randomly dies. I took my car to a mechanic and they stated everything was perfectly fine they did a full diagnostic and the computer didn't show any errors in operation. This happened 3 times in one day at random times, I could put the car in park and re-start and it ran fine. However I did have to hold the key forward longer for the engine to turn over.

I am not sure what part or components, but I am experiencing a smell of some kind that is making me sick. As in, nausea, vomiting, sleepiness, headaches and migraines. This only happens when I am in the vehicle and only at certain times throughout the day. I've been vacationing for several months now and this is a reoccurring problem. When I am driving the smell is trying to put me to sleep and I have to pullover on the interstate to sleep and I have been putting the windows down to try to stop the reactions I am having. But, the smell continues even when the engine is not running. That is the best way I can explain the experience that I am having. Thank you so much and have an absolutely amazing day.

On 7/30/2021 I filled up my gas tank at a local sunoco. After doing so my engine would start and quickly stall. Thinking I may have gotten "bad gas", after several attemts of re-starting my car and while in neutral I reved up the car a few times between 3-4 thousand rpm's to posiibly "blow out" and any water or sediment which at the time I believed was do to the gas, and it ran fine for days and did not stall. I continued to drive the car to work and errunds with no issue, except for about 3 days after gas fill-up when my engine light came on. Although the car ran fine, on Tuesday August 2 2021, I went to local auto zone and they ran the diagnostic that indicated a p1450 error which said on the report "replace evaporative emissions (evap) purge control valve". The following morning August 3rd, I called my Ford mullinax dealership when they opened at 7:30, and the closest appointment was not until Monday August 16th ! (a quailfied local mechanic said he could not do the work and would actually have to send the car to Ford himself. ) on the following day August 4th, I drove the car to work (a 76 mile round trip primarily on the interstate). The car ran fine on the way there and up to a point on the way back, until the engine made a intermittent very loud noise and did so after several times after, until the engine completely and unexpectedly shut down and narrowly missing a very dangerous rear end collision. I called aaa to tow my car, and when the driver arrived 25 minutes or so, the car was in a position which made it difficult to place on his flatbed tow truck that he arrived with. He asked if I could start it up, and I said I doubt it would but I was willing to try. Much to my suprise it fired righ up! I assume that it had time to cool down and that this was only temporary. Definetly not safe to assume everything was now ok ! from that 8/4/2021 day until today as I document this incident on 8/9/2021, I have been fortunate enough to borrow a friend's 2nd vehicle.

Fuel system loses pressure sometimes and the car cuts off completely, sometimes at high speeds. This is very dangerous because of loss of power steering and brakes. That transmission also shifts erratically sometimes which is also dangerous because if I need to accelerate to avoid an accident, it wont shift correctly and makes it more difficult to do so.

Check engine light on, honing coming from rear driver side, after filling with gas the engine fires up properly but then sputters out, codes are reading evaporator purge system failure.

The affected vehicle is a 2015 Ford Fusion energi with 80,350 miles. VIN: 3fa6p0su1fr I purchased the vehicle from keller Ford in hanford California on 11jan2021, at 79,902 miles. On my way to work while on the highway, symptoms started with a high pitch noise, followed by, a burning smell, motor over temp warning, and finally a complete loss of power and a "pull over safely" warning. I had my car towed to the dealership the following morning to be worked on, where they found the transmission assembly to be the affected issue. The transmission had been replaced sometime last year prior to my ownership, which was undisclosed to me at the time of purchase, so this is now the seccond time this car has had an issue with the ecvt assembly. (part number hm5z-7000-arm). The original repair was a complete transmission replacement, but this time, Ford is looking at having the dealership rebuild the transmission. I have not been able to find many other issues with this transmission, aside for two tsbs. 20-2219 and 19-2391. The hybrid electrical system, which includes the ecvt, is warranted by Ford up to 8 years or 100,000 miles.

When getting ready to park the car the car says it's it nuetral but it's actually I believe in park. I took my foot off the break and it was moving backwards. I put the parking break on the car so it is stationary.

The rpms rev and shifting hesitates. Was at a stop light, went to drive off from light and it stalled in intersection as it was stuck in gear and finally went into gear. It slow, hard shifts at usual times. The stalling happens out of the blue. I do not go far because I don't want to have an accident from it stalling in gear! I've put so much money on tranny work, this is ridiculous to not have a safe vehicle and have to worry about being stranded.

Tl-the contact owns a 2015 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that after refueling, the vehicle failed to restart. The contact stated that the failure recurred twice. The vehicle was towed to havana Ford, inc (302 s main st, havana, FL 32333, 850-539-6565) to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the evap purge valve needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and informed of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000. Ah.

8/15/2019 my son took my car to auto clinic of boca raton inc. =computer diagnostic scan, no charge=replaced cylinder to ignition coil-total was $90. 95(12month or 12,000miles lim. Warty. ). On 10/24/2019 my son took my car to the grayco Ford of delray beach for recalls. Engine light was back on,they wanted $to find out y the light was on. So my son left &on his next day off he took the car back to the auto clinic again. They did a diagnostic scan=free&this time=replaced cyls. 1,3&4 ignition/coils= $272. 85 this time mileage in & out was 53,473. My son mileage in for my car at grayco Ford of delray beach was 54,824 on 10/24/19. Motor was under warranty up until 60,000 miles. So I don't understand why they wouldn't of looked at that check engine light or the motor of my car for my son who was away at college in florida for 3yrs. I bought that car in order for him to go to florida and work and go to school lynn university to get his masters degree at 23 years old. I thought I bought a safe vehicle for his travels. My son got his normal oil change of every 3 months on 4/15/20@1:03pm. Engine light on after he left so he took it to the auto clinic again @2:05 they replaced spark plugs for $58. 44 mileage in 58,325 in and out. He moved home to OH the check engine light on again! I took it to classic,mentor OH they tell me my Ford engine has a problem something warps inside a chamber and lets coolant go into the motor! they want $5200 to fix it. I called Ford&it's 2000 miles out warranty. They said can�t/won't help w/ this well-known problem for 2013-2019 Fusions! I talkd to the grayco Ford of delray, very rude (david aliva) & boss very rude as well. I got a rude email,that they will not help me! even though the check engine light was on and it was under 60,000 miles! car sitting at mentor classic(since 08/20)they tell me it is a fire hazard to drive! I don't know what to do!.

My engine light came on. So I went to 2 different companies and they told me that there was a misfire in cylinder 2. I replaced the coils and plugs. The engine light came on again so I took it to Ford. There they told me coolant was getting into my cylinders. They told me that it would cost $6,731 to fix a problem that multiple people with the same car and multiple different years are having. The car still moves but now it's overheating every 3 minutes.

Several times today my vehicle shut off while driving. The dash display said "transmission not in park" for a second or two and then the motor shut off - no lights in the instrument cluster, no check engine light or codes. One time was on the highway at speed, the second time was driving slowly on a neighborhood road. The engine will not start after it stops - I have two wait 15 minutes sometimes. When I try to start the engine there are no lights on the dash - battery checked good, 100% charge. Since this seems to occur while driving this is a safety issue and most owners on the internet say that Ford never "finds a problem. ".

After getting gas the vehicle hesitates to start. Once started and pressing of the gas pedal the car resist moving forward. On occasion a loud air sound comes from where gas is pumped in. If I stop to open the gas door and release the air in the line the car creates another loud sound like air out of a tire. You can smell gas around the vehicle whether I pump it in or not. This has happen on numerous occasions but the last time was on March 12, 2020.

On 10/7/2019 I brought my car in to fort mill Ford (SC) for a tire change and regular service. When I came to pick it up on 10/10/2019, the car would not start. Upon advising my tech brittany of the issue, they sent out a tech to jump start the car that was just serviced. When the car was jump started, an engine light appeared on the dashboard. The vehicle was at 62000 miles. I went back to my adviser brittany again and she stated that the engine light is nothing to worry about and that Ford activates those when seasons change and is part of their software. She insisted that everything was ok with the car and referenced the inspection list I was given for my 2015 Ford Fusion se. Not three weeks later, the engine light went from being constantly on, to flashing. This also caused an intense white smoke from the exhaust and a strong gas presence in the vehicle. While I was driving to work, the engine light started flashing and the car started jerking on I-77 highway. I took the car back to fort mill Ford on 11/18/2019 for inspection. The next day, brittany called me and said they found an issue with my spark-plug and that it might cost anywhere from $200 to $6000. 00 to repair it. Since the issue was not caused by me I was not going to take responsibility for the charges and after weeks of ignoring me, Ford motor company (office of elena Ford) decided to get involved. However, the cause went from spark-plugs to coolants then cylinders and I was never given a specific cause. I did not have my car for over 60 days because all parts were on back order. I got my car back on 1/21/2020 and it is still showing issues with acceleration. Out of 91 NHTSA complaints on engine issues, over 31 have these same symptoms. 42k. Engine light came on, diagnostics reported a bad 02 sensor. Never had any kind of issues with an 02 sensor. Can't believe it happened on a 2015 model.

Tl-the contact owns a 2015 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that the excessive vaccuum resulted in an engine stall while driving, without warning and without the ability to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was was felix sabates Ford Lincoln 7601 south blvd, charlotte, nc 28273 where they stated that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 18v735000 (fuel system). The manufacturer was also contacted and made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 69,200. Am.

My vehicle stalls after fueling and also while driving. It seems to be a problem with many Ford Fusions. While driving, the cap less gas filler will start vibrating and relieving pressure from the fuel system. This is causing the car to act like it is misfiring and run rough. Before I have time to pull off the busy city street the car will shut off and I'm left sitting in the middle of the road trying to get the car started and moved to a safe location. Occasionally the car will throw a 1450, 2196, or 0131 code. The main code is 1450 which is an evap code. I've replaced the canister and will be replacing the purge valve soon. These valves need to be looked at because they can malfunction without any warning and pose a safety hazard.

Car would intermittently stall at low speeds and would shake and shutter until the engine quit. This would take place after warm up and the car had been driven for several miles. Car would restart after hard cranking after moving gear shift into park. This would take place at stop lights, in the driveway and on the street while in traffic. Dealer replaced throttle body (part # ds7z 9e926c) after verifying code from electronic analysis.

Car stalls when starting out.

Check engine light code indicates catalytic converter failure. Oil changed according to manufacturers recommendations. Car is driven less than 100 miles per month. Indicator light comes on and goes out intermittently. Car is only 3 years old.

My car since I bought it has had the same issue of turning off either while driving or right after I get gas and not starting back up. I have gotten the purge valve replaced as that is what the dealer said was the issue and one year later I'm having the same issue. It seems this is a huge problem for Fords since they recalled over a million Ford focus vehicles for the same issue but my model is not on the recall list which it clearly needs to be.

While driving this vehicle the engine misfires decrease in power and completely stops acceleration. It also uses a great deal of fuel. The coolant constantly leaks out and the engine overheats every few minutes. The car also overheats when sitting in a parked position. While driving on the freeway the car slowed to 25mph. We were very close to being involved in an accident.

Initial failure of defective throttle bodies on Ford escape and Fusion,you have let Ford get away with extending the warrenty on several years of this dangerous failure but they refuse to do anything when it fails and starts working again after sitting and restarting. While driving on a busy city street with multiple lanes it lost almost all power and they car slowed and would not accelerate. This can strand people and be dangerous to them and others nearby on the road. Mine happened on a 2015 Ford Fusion with no warning.

Engine unexpectedly shuts off while driving. While driving at low speed in parking lot I went over a bump and then the engine shut off. Odometer is at approximately 44000. This occurred once before several months ago under the same conditions but I was not sure what to make of it.

This car has been in multiple times for loss of power and engine cutting out during acceleration. It has become dangerous. This is the ecoboost engine. Ford is not telling all about the dangers of this problem. I have almost been killed several times trying to accelerate into the roadway.

Takata recall I currently own a 2015 Ford Fusion se 2. 0l turbo as the mileage has increased I have become aware of a problem with the purge vale, as I have having troubling starting my car after I put gas in it along with stalling. After some research I came upon articles of complaints about the same model car with the same purge valve problem. I believe this is a defect in the car that has dangerous safety hazards.

While driving, my vehicle overheated. Checked coolant level, and it was less than half full. I refilled coolant to recommended level, and proceeded to drive. Two weeks later, it overheated again, and my coolant was low again. Refilled and monitored for leaks. No leaks. Then vehicle began misfiring. Diagnosed with cylinder 3 misfire. Replaced spark plugs and coil packs. Still misfiring. Rediagnosed with cylinder 3 misfire. Then it just died. Would not start. Acted as though it was flooding. Diagnosed with no additional issues by dealership. Then discovered TSB for a bolt that was backing out of the intercooler and into the manifold. This issue was allowing coolant to flood the manifold and cause misfiring. Got that fixed as well as the catalytic converter and turbo unit for the car which were damaged as a result of the coolant issue. $5,000 in repairs for a manufacturing defect that could have left my family and I stranded in the desert heat without a/c or in the sub-zero snowy mountains without heat since the vehicle would not even start. As a family, we travel extensively. This is definitely a safety issue!!!!!.
