My car has been shifting differently and running rough. I took it to a garage and said that the shifting gears were delayed. Something is going on with the shifting. I will call Ford dealer and see what they say. I'm worried about driving it because of safety. I saw on the safety website a recall on 22s43 damaged or missing bushing that may prevent the vehicle from shifting into the intended gear. Im wondering if this would be my vechicle.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford Fusion. I bought a 2015 Ford Fusion from a dealer in may 2022 I had only been driving the vehicle a month & 1/2 before it began to smoke really bad, so bad to where the drivers behind me visibility was affected. . . . I made it home safely not knowing if the car would explode because of all the smoke and the smell, and the overheating of coolant and warning lights. I called the dealer I bought it from they said they couldn't help me cause it was past the few weeks they gave me to call them with issues, but said I can pay their mechanic to fix it for over $4000. 00 which I do not have because I am on disability with a fixed income. I am still paying the note for this vehicle which I cannot drive and cannot afford to fix. It is just parked. I don't know what else to do, I took it to the Ford dealership near me and they said the engine needed to be replaced and would cost 10,442. 00 which is more than what I owe on the car. . . I don't understand why there is no recalls for this vehicle and others that Ford and other dealers seem to know had or have this issue. I have read online and heard on youtube so many people have had this same issue with their Ford vehicles and can't get any help to repair them. I am beyond frustrated that people can lie so easily, manipulate or con people into buying a product knowing it will not perform the way it is intended. I'm asking for a recall on all the Fords that have this issue with the coolant leaking in the cylinders of the engine or whatever to cause the entire engine to need to be replaced. I'm a honest person and expect the same from others, especially the ones licensed to run business'. It is unfair to consumers who spend their hard earned money out here to keep the economy moving to be sold unsafe, tarnished, broken and knowingly corrupt products. Please help as many of us as possible, because a lot of us aren't rich, we are just hard working consumers hoping our money get us what we pay for! fairness, honesty and quality products.
The service engine soon icon appeared. Three days after, I went to auto zone to try to find the issue and the issue was unknown. The day after, the safety alert icon appeared and immediately after, the message transmission not in park appeared. The 2015 Ford Fusion hybrid slowed its acceleration to under 20 mph and upward to 35 mph and returned to under 20 mph. Search with the vehicle's VIN number on NHTSA website, shows that vehicle may possibly have a damaged/broken/missing transmission shifter cable bushing. Safety of others put at risk because when vehicle acceleration and deceleration process slowed the vehicle into incoming traffic and creating a problem in the flow of traffic. Cannot get vehicle to a dealer for inspection.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle lunged forward during acceleration. Additionally, the vehicle made a squealing sound while the brake pedal was depressed. The contact related the failure to the transmission and braking system. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the mechanic replaced the body cam, overhead console, steering gear assembly, and rack and pinion. The failure recurred and the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 81,252.
This car will randomly shut off while driving at any speed on hot days. The display will say "transmission not in park" then the instrument cluster will go dark and the engine shuts off. There is no check engine light and there are no odb codes presented. I have to wait some amount of time, which varies, before it will turn on again. It has also not turned on from sitting for more than eight hours on two hot days. This is very much a safety issue and searching the internet I find it is not uncommon with Ford Fusion and escape vehicles with no discernible solution being presented. My auto shop has looked at the vehicle and replaced the fuel flow sensor but it did not fix the issue. I have replaced the key ignition switch and immobilizer ring and pulled every fuse and cleaned the contacts with no resolution.
On January 1st I left my home to go to a store and noticed the cars shifter had a hard time finding the sport drive and would immediately pop into the regular drive mode. Upon leaving the store my shifter became extremely difficult to move into reverse to pull out of the parking spot. Once I got out of the spot it was even harder to move it into drive. Once it was in drive I drove it back into the parking spot and restarted the car. At this point it was still difficult to put the car into reverse so I figure I would drive the 5 minutes home and figure out what was going on after I got back. Upon getting home I went to put the car into park again and it was stuck in drive even though the shifter indicated the car was in park. I did some research and found there was a recall for certain 2013 - 2016 Ford Fusions because the bushing that connects the shifter cable to the transmission may degrade and break over time. On January 3rd I got the car towed to the dealership for the repairs and found that my car was not covered under this recall (Ford recall # 19s16, NHTSA recall # 19v362000) as it was not manufactured at one of the locations identified under this recall. The dealership referred me to a corporate representative who told me they could not add my VIN to the recall, however they urged me to contact the NHTSA to see if my VIN could be added to this recall as this is the same issue as outlined within the recall.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that there was abnormal humming sound was detected inside the vehicle. Additionally, the vehicle was bouncing. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where it was diagnosed that the bushing to the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted however, no further assistance was provided. The approximate failure mileage was 150,008.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while attempting to start the vehicle, the vehicle would not start. The message "transmission not in park" was illuminated. The contact also stated he was unable to move the gear shifter to shift gears. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the shifter cable had detached. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 19v362000 (power train). The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 85,000.
The automatic transmission shifter cable, which connects the shifter knob in the cabin of the vehicle to the shifter lever in the engine which controls the gear selection of the engine (drive, neutral, reverse, park, etc. ), degraded and became detached while the vehicle was in operation. This led to a situation in which the shifter knob in the cabin in the car became non-functional and the car was stuck in "drive" regardless of how the shifter knob was adjusted. In my specific case, I used the shifter knob to put the car in "park" but the car continued to move forward under engine power unless the brake or parking brake was applied. This created a dangerous situation where it was assumed the car was in "park" mode when in reality the car would still roll forward under it's own power. This is a known issue and existing recall for many Ford Fusions with a 2. 5 l engine. My specific trim level (Ford Fusion titanium) came equipped with a 2. 0 l turbocharged engine which is not included in the existing recalls but was produced at the same facilities as the recalled vehicles and experiences the same exact automatic transmission component failure as is covered by the recall on 2. 5 l engines. I have had to pay to have this component repaired (~$100) since this incident occurred in order to get the vehicle safe and operational again.
On 7/30/2021 I filled up my gas tank at a local sunoco. After doing so my engine would start and quickly stall. Thinking I may have gotten "bad gas", after several attemts of re-starting my car and while in neutral I reved up the car a few times between 3-4 thousand rpm's to posiibly "blow out" and any water or sediment which at the time I believed was do to the gas, and it ran fine for days and did not stall. I continued to drive the car to work and errunds with no issue, except for about 3 days after gas fill-up when my engine light came on. Although the car ran fine, on Tuesday August 2 2021, I went to local auto zone and they ran the diagnostic that indicated a p1450 error which said on the report "replace evaporative emissions (evap) purge control valve". The following morning August 3rd, I called my Ford mullinax dealership when they opened at 7:30, and the closest appointment was not until Monday August 16th ! (a quailfied local mechanic said he could not do the work and would actually have to send the car to Ford himself. ) on the following day August 4th, I drove the car to work (a 76 mile round trip primarily on the interstate). The car ran fine on the way there and up to a point on the way back, until the engine made a intermittent very loud noise and did so after several times after, until the engine completely and unexpectedly shut down and narrowly missing a very dangerous rear end collision. I called aaa to tow my car, and when the driver arrived 25 minutes or so, the car was in a position which made it difficult to place on his flatbed tow truck that he arrived with. He asked if I could start it up, and I said I doubt it would but I was willing to try. Much to my suprise it fired righ up! I assume that it had time to cool down and that this was only temporary. Definetly not safe to assume everything was now ok ! from that 8/4/2021 day until today as I document this incident on 8/9/2021, I have been fortunate enough to borrow a friend's 2nd vehicle.
Fuel system loses pressure sometimes and the car cuts off completely, sometimes at high speeds. This is very dangerous because of loss of power steering and brakes. That transmission also shifts erratically sometimes which is also dangerous because if I need to accelerate to avoid an accident, it wont shift correctly and makes it more difficult to do so.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford Fusion. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 22v011000 (service brakes, hydraulic), NHTSA campaign number: 22v413000 (power train) however, the part to do the repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.
Fuel rail and vacuums are faulty. Gas remains over 1/2 a tank and vehicle stalls and shuts off while trying to drive. The engine shuts off while in drive . Acceleration is still not allowing for the car to run when starting and after a while the vehicle shuts off while driving.

I drove to work no problems and parked my 2015 Fusion 2. 0 ecoboost. When I left work I started the car and a billow of white smoke rolled out from the exhaust when I pulled out of my parking spot. It quickly dissipated so I drove down the road a few miles. I then got an overheating warning on the dash followed by a p1299 code. When I parked the car it was idling rough so I turned it off. I let it cool down and noticed the coolant reservoir was low so I filled it up and started the car, it idled just fine, at first, with little smoke then after a few moments it started idling really rough. It sucked the coolant reservoir dry so I filled it up again and went inside. When I looked at it half an hour later the coolant reservoir was empty yet again. I then noticed a huge puddle under my car with it dripping from the muffler in the middle. I don't know the problem. I only have 68k miles.
I sending this massage because I have 2015 Ford Fusion se. My issue is when I put my car on drive mode every time I go out in to town. When I'm about to make a stop and when I take off the transmission seems to jump back and for almost like is trying to get a good shift or like is trying to look for fisrt gear. I don't know if Ford is aware of this situation, but its getting kinda annoying that the transmission is doing that or if is failing. I don't know what could it be maybe it just needs a software update or maybe the transmission is about to go out. Hopefully someone read this or maybe through this website the complaint gets to Ford and due something about it or at least fix the problem. I don't know how many people out there are experiencing the same problem as me, but if we all come together maybe Ford could do a recall or fix the problem on this transmissions before mine goes out and I have to pay for it.
Vehicle has 100,215 miles and is 5 years old mid January 2020 check engine light came on. Code 303 - cylinder 3 misfire. Changed spark plugs. Same code. Had vehicle checked by private mechanic. Coolant located in cylinder 3. Case started with Ford motor CO. Vehicle taken to Ford dealership where it was orginally purchased. After adding dye to the coolant they verified the cylinder #3 leak. They reccomend an engine replacement - $6550. 20. They offered to buy vehicle from us for $1500. 00. Oh, and I should mention that the vehicle was officially paid off one week before the check engine light came on and this all started. See attached invoice from February 2020.
My sisters vehicle has started rolling down her driveway and she got back in the car and seen that there is a transmission not in park message and we found that the gear selector cable has broke off the gear selector lever. It is not safe for my sister to drive this vehicle. It's a driving hazard. I have found a recall from 2014 about potential vehicle rollaway for her vehicle but it's not open on her vehicle anymore. She had this problem before and took it into the dealership to get this fixed and it happens again.
Tl the contact owns a 2015 Ford Fusion. After the vehicle came to a complete stop, the shift lever was placed in park. After exiting the vehicle, it started to roll backwards. The contact stated that the failure occurred once with the shift cable being fractured. The vehicle was repaired per a warranty program at long-lewis Ford Lincoln Volkswagen Mitsubishi (2800 woodward Ave, muscle shoals, al 35661, (256) 386-7800) in September of 2017. The vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign numbers: 18v471000 (power train) or 19v362000 (power train). The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 122,500.
On 10/7/2019 I brought my car in to fort mill Ford (SC) for a tire change and regular service. When I came to pick it up on 10/10/2019, the car would not start. Upon advising my tech brittany of the issue, they sent out a tech to jump start the car that was just serviced. When the car was jump started, an engine light appeared on the dashboard. The vehicle was at 62000 miles. I went back to my adviser brittany again and she stated that the engine light is nothing to worry about and that Ford activates those when seasons change and is part of their software. She insisted that everything was ok with the car and referenced the inspection list I was given for my 2015 Ford Fusion se. Not three weeks later, the engine light went from being constantly on, to flashing. This also caused an intense white smoke from the exhaust and a strong gas presence in the vehicle. While I was driving to work, the engine light started flashing and the car started jerking on I-77 highway. I took the car back to fort mill Ford on 11/18/2019 for inspection. The next day, brittany called me and said they found an issue with my spark-plug and that it might cost anywhere from $200 to $6000. 00 to repair it. Since the issue was not caused by me I was not going to take responsibility for the charges and after weeks of ignoring me, Ford motor company (office of elena Ford) decided to get involved. However, the cause went from spark-plugs to coolants then cylinders and I was never given a specific cause. I did not have my car for over 60 days because all parts were on back order. I got my car back on 1/21/2020 and it is still showing issues with acceleration. Out of 91 NHTSA complaints on engine issues, over 31 have these same symptoms. Please see attached documents detailing this issue. This form does not offer enough space for relevant information and I was not able to upload the last email thread.
Tl-the contact owns a 2015 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving approximately 35 mph, the vehicle stalled, the message " transmission not in park " came up on the message center. The contact pulled over to the side of the road and resaterted the vehicle. The following day the vehicle was picked up by the dealer lafayette Ford/Lincoln, 5202 raeford rd, fayetteville, nc 28304, and they brought a loaner car. They were not able to replicate the failure. The contact also stated that the vehicle was taken to the dealerlafayette Ford/Lincoln, 5202 raeford rd, fayetteville, nc 28304 six times and they have not corrected the failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 74,000. Bp.
Spark plugs continue to foul causing antifreeze to leak into engine resulting in needing a engine replacement. Been told I need a brand new engine on a 5 year old car.
Took car to dealership to have recall repairs fixed, now with repairs it has now caused a hard shift in gears. Recall repair has now caused another issue that was not a problem until recall work was completed. I was parked and car wouldn't come out of gear.
Brought car in for service due to check engine light and battery not charging. Replaced battery, but check engine light remained on. Again, went to get get diagnostic, resulted in needing catalytic converter. Picked up car and check engine light came back on. Returned to service next day. Diagnostic showed coolant leaked into the engine and head gasket needing replacing. The result is needing a new motor. This issue seems similar to NHTSA campaign number: 17v209000. My issue seems to be related to this recall on the 2013 and 2014 Fusions. Ford is provided $3,000 for the repair due to me being over 600 miles over power train. My concern is the recall to the 13 and 14 Fusion could be broader than those years.
After merging and accelerating onto the freeway, over to the far left lane, "stop safely now" warning came up and the car lost all power. Luckily I was able to coast all the way to the right shoulder (what hawaii considers a shoulder, still very dangerous) the vehicle would not start, only beep multiple times and display the same message. After 5 min on phone trying to get Ford roadside assistance, the local highway patrol tow truck showed up. Before I allowed him to tow the vehicle I tried to start it and was successful.
Tl the contact owns a 2015 Ford Fusion. While the contact's daughter was driving 45 mph, the steering wheel turned to the right and became difficult to turn. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The driver was able to drive to her residence. The contact associated the failure with NHTSA campaign number: 15v250000 (steering). The vehicle was taken to larry h. Miller super Ford salt lake city (located at 1340 s. 500 w, salt lake city, ut 84115, (801) 783-4473) where it was diagnosed that the steering assembly and an unknown wire for the power train needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was 110,000.
Antilock brake vacuum pump failed while driving on city street at 40-45 mph. Almost caused serious accident. Brake pump failure caused camshaft failure and a bearing to fall apart and put metal shavings into engine. Now engine, per dealership, will need to be replaced.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that the transmission would sputter when the vehicle was stopped and started. Also, the vehicle would stall between switching gears. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that a new clutch needed to be installed. The vehicle was repaired with a used part. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and provided a case number. The failure mileage was 60,002.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that the vehicle exhibited multiple failures. The vehicle lost power independently and the brake pedal failed to engage while driving. Also, after fueling the vehicle, the engine failed to start. Furthermore, when the accelerator pedal was depressed, the vehicle would not accelerate. The vehicle was taken to elk grove Ford (9645 auto center drive, elk grove, CA 95757, (916) 478-7000) where it was determined that the windshield wiper fluid penetrated the brake fluid. The brake lines, calipers, and the battery were replaced twice; however, the repairs did not correct the failures and the vehicle continued to stall. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, but they could not duplicate the failures. The manufacturer was not contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was not available.
I have 107,000 miles on 2015 Ford Fusion. On my way home my car lost power and was not shifting. I was able to make it home. I had car towed to tuttle click Ford in san juan capistrano, CA. I was notified that I was going to need a new transmission. Totally unacceptable, and I voiced my concerns to the service manager. I have done research online and found many complaints with the exact same symptoms with Ford Fusions. I have sent emails to mr. Ford and the customer service manager and ceo of Ford and have not received any response. There are no recalls for this issue for my model year, yet it seems to be an ongoing problem. Also Ford focus and festival have had a number of complaints as well. My car was on a city street in motion when the sudden loss of power and jerking motion started.
