I have a car health monitor plugged into my obd ii port, it's out just one day read (cylinder 2 misfire) so I drive to work and then call hiltop Ford (richmond CA)to bring it in to see what's wrong. They performed recalls but as far the issue I brought it in for they said, that they had no idea what's wrong with the car and have to replace the entire engine. And directly after telling me this and me leaving I get a call from the sales department trying to set up and appointment to purchase a new vehicle! so now I'm of the mindset that something is fishy. I then took the car to a mechanic I know, during that ride my car begins to overheat, off and on. After getting the car to the mechanic he ran his diagnostics and told me yeah my I have a spark plug that's out and needs to be replaced. I get that done, everything is fine for about 3-4 weeks. Then the same thing happens (cylinder 2 misfire and overheating) at this point I don't trust Ford cause they new they at least knew the spark plugs was out. Back to the mechanic I go, he then let's me know that there's a notice out describing the issue so he told me to contact Ford to see if they'd fix it. Again Ford knew nothing of the sort. And my car just stopped and won't start and it is directly related to the issues the car has had. Now here I am trying to find the best course of action and not have to purchase a new car. Not sure why this isn't recalled when it's happening to a lot of people.
So this started just about a week ago I noticed I had low coolant, I had serviced my car recently so I thought maybe they just forgot to add some, it wasn't below the minimum line but it was getting near so I topped it off, well not I notice my coolant is leaking further more and more, I've researched it online and many people are having this issue although there's no recall issues there should be, people are paying thousands of dollars for a new engine because of a defect and I fear I'm going to be one of those people also, they claim the 2nd piston goes out due to coolant leaking inside. Please please investigate this defect, Ford lied about their Ford focus and now it's their Ford Fusion.
We bought our Ford Fusion se in August 2019 and now we're told our purge valve needs to be replaced and it isn't covered by warranty. Our check engine light came on when driving on the interstate and we made an appointment immediately to be seen.
Evap fuel vapor canister purge valve assembly failed. Dealer charging $314. 00 and said Ford does not cover this part under warranty. This is an emission component with many comments about known failure.
When the car is going down the highway it will make a loud sound and the just shut off in the middle of traffic and some time it will not make a. Sound, and it shuts off. This is a very dangerous thing to be happening on a highway. I have had several close call in which the person or people behind me had to swirl around me to keep from causing a major car crash. I have had my car to shut off on me several times before. I took it to have it checked out and the cause was determined to be within my fuel line, causing me to have the fuel tube replaced. As they where checking my car another Ford Fusion was having the same problem.
I have a 2012 Ford focus and as you know a 2016 Fusion as well . Shortly after I purchased my focus I received a recall for the purge valve a couple weeks ago my check engin light came on and now it's doing the same dying at stop lights and even on more then one occasion either dying while driving or one last night doing 75 mph on freeway in the fast lane with no shoulder and heavy traffic I called Ford coprportat and they said there were no realls for this vehicle, I just passed 60,000 miles and not my warranty is up.
I have a new alternator, new battery, but the pcm unit for the fuses is bad.
While driving down the freeway at 70 mph all of a sudden had a loss of throttle service wrench light, airbag light, see owners manual lit up happened in an area where there was nowhere to pull off the freeway very unsafe heard of a recall that had happened for a throttle body issue that I never received notice for car mileage currently around 60, 500 miles Ford Fusion se have a known issue with this among other Ford products is it going to take someone to get killed in order for a recall to be reordered talk to the dealer and they are not willing to help me told me that I have to pay for all of the stuff out of pocket. This has happened about four times so far and I am currently not driving the vehicle as I feel unsafe in that vehicle.
Tl the contact owns a 2016 Ford Fusion. While driving approximately 25 mph, the contact heard a strange grinding sound coming from the rear driver's side of the vehicle. Also, an abnormal burning odor entered the cabin. The vehicle stalled and the check engine warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to imperial Ford (8 uxbridge rd, mendon, MA 01756, 508-473-2800) where it was diagnosed that the solenoid and purge control failed. The vehicle was currently being repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 74,000.
My car will shut down and lose all power without notice when I'm at highway speeds. A comment comes on the dash that says something like " transmission is not in gear" or something like that. I'm not sure of the exact words because whenever it does it I'm looking to get to the far right lane so I can come to a complete stop on the side of the highway to come to a stop, put the car in park, turn it off then turn it back on. It's so dangerous to have the car lose all power going 70 mph. I really think something needs to be done on this before someone gets killed. This has happened probably 5 different times in the past few months. I don't have the exact dates when it's happened but the last time it did I was traveling in kansas city and thought I was going to cause a large accident trying to get my car over to the shoulder without power.
Tl the contact owns a 2016 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving at 40 mph, there was an abnormal sound coming from the front of the vehicle. The contact pulled over and inspected the vehicle and became aware that the driver's side front axle was detached from the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to fair oaks Ford Lincoln located at (2055 w ogden Ave, naperville, IL 60540) to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the driver's side control arm and subframe needed to be repaired. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where the diagnosis was confirmed. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that after refueling, the accelerator needed to be depressed while starting the vehicle. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and the contact was informed that the fuel pressure valve needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.
I bought my 2016 Fusion two years ago with 75,000 miles on the odometer. The first day it went into fail safe mode while in the passing lane. I had no engine power and had to pull over in traffic. Code p2111 throttle body stuck open. I cleaned the throttle body and maf sensor with a $10 two pack of spray cleaner. My car now with 110,000 miles just did the same thing yesterday 5/17/21 while in traffic code p2111. I cleaned the throttle body again even though it didn't look dirty compared to the first time. My car shut down three times today while in traffic. Each time I had to pull over with no power shut off the car and restart the engine. I will replace the throttle body but believe this is very serious defect and should have never happened at 75,000 miles or even at 110,000. Very dangerous and scary to drive far from home knowing how much it would cost to be towed and have to pay a shop to repair. Kind regards, [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
Takata recall, loud humming/ vibration noise appears to be coming from underneath rear of vehicle. First started while driving on the street, pulled over to check and it was when the engine would not turn back on, engine light turned on, after this the key fob push to start has not been working and every time you pump gas the engine has problems turning on, only turns on after pressing the gas.
I'm losing has very fast.
On going! dealership here in florida states okay? stearing is a problematic , electrical systems need to be checked, turning needs to checked. They have my car listed as a hybrid? it is not. Multiple complaints.
All off a sudden, it will take off then. I have to stop and reset all the safety issues.
The canister purge valve in this vehicle repeatedly goes bad. Since buying the vehicle in 2018, the purge valve went bad in 2019, twice in 2020 and last (although I’m sure it will happen again) 2024. It throws the check engine light on and will just about die everytime putting gas into the car or when stopped for random periods of time. The vehicle uses more gas and you can literally smell the fumes escaping from the flapping gas tank lid. The smell is awful. I’ve reported this problem to Ford themselves since the first issue due to their being multiple people online with the same issue with this vehicle. I thought the purpose of “eco friendly” meant to not release harmful gases from the vehicle. Ford has zero cares of this issue. The odor is so strong which leaks inside the vehicle. It’s made my grand kids sick on 2 occasions. Why this isn’t a recall yet is beyond me. The repair cost each time has been a little over $500. I have all receipts of repairs. Does products have been placed on this vehicle. Although now I’m second guessing my choice of the Ford part and maybe should have went with an after market part. Because clearly Ford isn’t concerned about the problem and fail to fix the canister purge valve so it isn’t releasing harmful gases into our atmosphere.
I have received a settlement form as well as for this lease Fusion and my first one as well. I it not acting correct! gas smell , sterrng, horn weak, took to dealership at woodbridge with my friend while I am not in fla . For the short while the previous car red 2015 was replaced at purvis Ford in fredricksburg, va. When I was here last time in 2015. It was ready to blow!.
Car repeatedly dies after driving about 4-10 miles after first starting. Has died on me while at busy intersection (middle of it!) and has died by train tracks! also died while merging onto interstate, has also died while driving on interstate. Happens while in motion. Ford says its purge valve system ($700) same issue with recall on 2012-2018 Ford focus, but Ford will not pay for this dangerous problem that has happened to many Ford owners!.
My car would stall right after I get gas! then after that the check engine light came on and the car is idling down. Took it to to be placed on a machine and it's reading a purge valve malfunctioning. This should not be happening to a barely 2 year old car. The car was parked at the gas pump.
The car will stall when coming to a stop and only at low speeds when coming to a stop. Never while driving the fuel filler flapper will vibrate making a what sounds like a growl. Try to restart it will run fruff and die. After you wait about 5-10 minutes it will restart and run fine for hundreds of miles and when you least expect it will do the same thing again,. It has been doing this same thing now for at ;east 6 to 8 thousand miles. It will not do it for the Ford dealer.
While driving at a steady 45 mph on a city street my Ford Fusion lost engine power. The tachometer dropped to less than 500rpm, the check engine warning light and the have dealer service vehicle light came on. Pumping the gas pedal did not have any effect on rpms. I was able to coast to a safe area. I turned off the engine and when I restarted the engine it was still idling under 500rpm and the gas pedal had no effect on engine speed. After the 3rd restart, I could get enough engine speed to return to my hotel but it ran very rough with the check engine light on. I took the car to a carmax dealer in henderson, nv. I purchased it from a different dealer in roseville, CA. They sent it to a Ford dealer in henderson. The dealer replace the throttle body - attaching the repair invoice. I have noticed that this seems to be a common complaint online and that Ford somehow stopped north carolina from forcing them to issue a recall for this. If this had happened on the freeway in heavy traffic, there would have been one heck of an accident as the car rapidly slowed down without warning.
I was driving slowly up a small slight hill, made a right turn, then another quick right turn to drive straight into a parking spot located in a condo parking lot and took my foot off the gas to put it on the brake. I was probably going 2 to 3 mph. A person could have outwalked the car. Suddenly the car seemed to have a mind of its own and lurched forward. I pressed down harder on the brake, but it didn't stop. In addition to going forward, the car also went on a slight angle to the right. At some point I must have put the car into park, because when I went to back up after hitting a fire hydrant, the car was in park. The fire hydrant was located in a plant area lower than the parking spot surrounded by a curb. I am unsure if I accidentally put my foot back on the gas, but it seems to me that is very unlikely. I have been driving for over 40 years and the motion from the gas to the brake is a habit. I have researched the web and there are reports from others that Ford Fusions have lunged forward when taking their foot off the gas and putting on the brake. I was the only person in the car and the only one involved in the accident and I was not injured. There were no witnesses.
After putting my car in reverse I put it in drive and it hesitates for about 4 minutes before moving into drive. This happens no matter what I am driving on. . . . .
My car had been vibrating pretty bad for a while, but I live on a dirt road and know that mud can cause this, so I chalked it up to that and was getting the under carriage washed and noticing that this did not help. 2 days ago I was driving on a city street and the orange "wrench" light appeared with the words "see manual. " I ran a vehicle health report as I was driving and couldn't read my manual at that moment. The vehicle health report said that everything but my oil life was "uncertain. " I stopped by my home to have someone come with me to give me a ride, and when I restarted the car, the wrench light was still on. I took it in to my local dealership (I bought the car from this dealership and every oil change has been done there) that night and was told the next day that there was a code given off that signaled "low fuel pressure" and upon further investigation, the mechanics found that my gas line was faulty and literally "fell apart. " I'm writing this just in case any other owners of this car have had this happen to them.
For the second time my Ford Fusion'a electronic throttle body malfunctioned while in traffic. The car will not accelerate or maintain speed. During both occurrences the sudden loss of engine power nearly caused me to be struck by other vehicles. The most recent occurrence happened while in busy interstate highway traffic. This issue is well documented and well known of by Ford and the NHTSA. The first time this happened the dealer would only reprogram the ecu despite me asking them about the etb. The car is extremely unsafe to drive and should be recalled immediately. The NHTSA and Ford are failing to meet their obligation to consumer safety by pushing this issue aside.
While traveling on business my 2016 Ford Fusion fleet vehicle suddenly lost power to the accelerator and began vibrating. The gas pedal could be pressed but had no affect as if it had been disconnected and an orange wrench appeared stating see manual. I was traveling approximately 70 miles an hour at the time (cruise control was set and had been at this speed for some time, no recent acceleration had occurred). When it happened I was in the middle of a highway construction zone with no shoulder. I went to tap the brake to see if it was still functioning and when I reached for it with my foot it was already partially depressed and when I tapped it the car felt like the brakes had locked or were for some reason extremely sensitive causing me to rapidly decelerate almost causing an accident since people were traveling behind me. After that happened I decided I had no other option and moved off to the right between the cones and brought the vehicle to a complete stop. When I was at a complete stop the vibrating intensified briefly before I was able to shut the car off. I waited 5 or 10 seconds and turned the car back on and it seemed to work fine. I completed the remaining 60-70 miles of my drive and have made a few 50-100 mile trips since without it occurring again so I thought it was a fluke thing until I got an email from the fleet company stating this is a known issue, I am scheduled to bring the car in for repair now. The incident occurred at approximately 12,000 miles.
While driving my 2016 Ford Fusion with approx 10,000 miles on the interstate I lost power , I had to coast the car to the side of the highway narrowly avoiding an accident. I restarted the car and exited the freeway, about 3 or 4 miles later it re-occurred. Wrench light and engine light illuminated. Fords health check app reported 'urgent service required'. I had the car towed to the dealer.
Throttle body failed and had to be replaced only after 13,500 miles, purchased this vehicle as brand new and is only 9 months old. The vehicle died multiple times on the highway and could have got me in a serious wreck. The Ford tech said they are replacing hundreds of these yet I was never notified of it being a possible issue that I could have been seriously hurt.
Car started stalling randomly while coming to a stop in city traffic. Car has now escalated to stalling while driving on highway, sudden power loss, including power brakes and steering.
Rented a Ford Fusion with 3000 miles. During highway driving it lost power and stopped. After a minute, we restarted it without problem. Drove it to a nearby Ford dealer who checked the code which indicated the problem was defective electronics that controlled the throttle. Apparently the engine was getting too much air and not enough gas causing it to shut down. Perhaps this was a problem specific to this car, perhaps not. Because of the potential for serious consequences of a car stopping unexpectadly on a highway we thought we should report it. We did notify the rental company (budget in milwauke WI) of the problem. The employee said he had heard of this problem before. It was not clear to us if he meant on cars in general or on this type of car.
On (3) separate occasions now my car has stalled out while driving on a street and given me the "wrench" check owners manual alert on the display. As I do all I can to get out of the line of traffic and off the the side of the road, the car sputters, shakes and stalls out. Turn off the key, wait a few seconds, open and close the door (so all electronics are off) and sometimes the check engine light comes on when it starts and it runs fine. Some times, it starts and shakes and sputters and stalls. On all occasions, I have eventually been able to get it to "limp" home. The last time (3rd time) I called Ford roadside assistance and had it towed to the dealer. The shop told me this is the 5th or 6th 2016 Ford car (fusion, fiesta or focus) this month with the same issue. 2nd Fusion and the one prior to mine had 400 miles on it! thinks it's either the throttle body or the throttle body positioning sensor. Has thrown codes p2111 and p2112. (one means flap is open, one means flap is closed) it's been 3 days and I have just been told I'm looking at another 6 at a minimum. (this is not the shop's fault in my opinion as they have been nothing but nice and considerate to me) don't know what the deal is but someone is going to get seriously hurt.
Car hesitates when accelerating from coast, generally in the 40-50 mph range, but at other times as well. This issue has caused near-accidents in heavy traffic when one expects the vehicle to accelerate but instead feels as if it's about to stall. This is especially dangerous when entering and exiting freeways when predictable acceleration is needed.
The subject car of this report is an enterprise rental car rented in peoria, illinois. On Thursday, may 5, 2016, my wife and I were traveling eastbound on i74 at milepost 166 in indiana. I was in the passing lane at 75 mph, closely followed by a tractor-trailer semi, and we were passing two other tractor-trailer semis in the adjacent lane. Other cars were in the vicinity. Suddenly I noticed that the accelerator pedal had become unresponsive and the car was slowing down. On the instrument panel there was a warning light in the shape of a wrench. My vehicle was slowing down rapidly and the adjacent vehicles had no idea what was happening. Horns were blowing; lights were flashing; and there was absolutely nothing I could do except to try to safely get out of everyone¿s way. Thankfully, I was successful and I was able to move my car to the shoulder of the highway. The reason for this report is that if I and the surrounding drivers had been less capable and less attentive in this event, there could easily have been a huge crash and at least two fatalities, and no one would have known the actual reason for the event. This was an extremely hazardous situation. I was eventually able to nurse the car to the Ford dealer in harrison, ohio (cronin Ford inc) where the car was left for repair. Enterprise provided a replacement vehicle to us and we continued our trip. Later in the trip, I stopped again at cronin Ford to learn what problem had been found. Their diagnosis led to replacement of the engine throttle body (part number ds7z 9e926 d). A copy of their work order is attached.
Last week my car engine would shut off without warning when I was at a stop light and idle about to turn onto road. This happened twice so I took my car where I purchased at ryan Ford sealy and they had it 4/6-12/2016. They couldn't find anything because no codes or light came up. Ran vehicle health check and nothing. Acted fine yesterday. Today going right under 30 mpg and at the stop sign it shook bad and lights came on. Engine stayed on but could not move. Waited 15 minutes and limped to my house and had tow truck take it back to ryan Ford. Determined and replaced throttle body.
