1 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/07/2025

Drove home from work 10/7/25 no issues. Parked the car no issues. Son went to leave and the car just stopped functioning. Oem issues I believe is what my son stated with the computer system. Brake is down and won’t release. Won’t start, sounds like it is even when we aren’t touching anything. Asking for goodwill / good faith extension on the recall for this vehicle.

2 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/07/2025

The contact owns a 2019 Ford Fusion. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 23v440000 (electrical system); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The vehicle was taken to the dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer confirmed that parts were not yet available, and the recall was put on hold. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and referred the contact to the dealer for further assistance. The contact had not experienced a failure.

3 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/29/2025

Going approximately 55 miles an hour on the freeway and my car starts profusely shaking. I pulled to the side of the highway tow truck comes up behind me. Ann, my cylinder 4 was noted to be misfiring. I had it towed to midas and that is where it was determined that engine coolant leaked into my cylinders and now being told that my car requires a new engine!! mind you I have already paid 5k to replace the timing chain because apparently my car skipped timing due to oil pan leak. Both of these issues are posted on TSB bulletins on the Ford website. I am not going to pay 11k for a new engine not to mention the 5k I already paid and all my other maintenance that I have paid for. Ford was deceptive knowing selling these vehicles with a qa issue! and they refuse to assist the consumer. They need to be held accountable for their negligence!!.

4 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/22/2025

First, we will start with every time I turn my car to the left the steering wheel box and the brakes skid then the abs sensor comes on then we will start with the car every time I put it into a gear. It automatically goes back to park, and I cannot move the car in any direction. When the issue first started, I could reverse then when I put the car and drive in the middle of the street it would automatically go back to park which could cause a crash I only have video proof of this.

5 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/22/2025

I have a 2019 Ford Fusion turbo engine and everytime I accelerate the turbo is wicking into the pcm the control module which is causing hazards sucking as at random times whenever I turn left the steering wheel with get stuck and the brakes will lock for a couple seconds and then go back to normal. I had meineke do a diagnostic on the car and they showed oil in the pcm aswell as the loss of connection between the pcm and its sensors. They drove the car and while driving the car going 20mph the car is reading as going 100.

6 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 07/23/2025

See attached document for complaint. Text from attached document: despite completing the interim repair, the vehicle still cannot charge, and my repeated inquiries, including under case number cxh-05041947-l 1v3x6, have been met with vague promises of replacement batteries being available "next quarter" with no resolution in sight. Furthermore, I learned on July 23, 2025, that Ford offered a buy-back program for affected vehicles that ended on July 1, 2025, which I was never informed about.

7 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 03/02/2025

1. 5 liter engine built in 2019 has antifreeze leaking inside cylinder 1 needs complete engine. Also a recall on electrical system propulsion system and traction battery management system energy control module part number: 23533.

8 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 02/11/2025

I was driving on a slushy road and it was snowing. I received a warning that the pre-collision assist was unavailable. Another light also lit up saying there was no traction. The car veered toward the concrete barrier next to me and I couldn't turn the wheel. The brakes also did not work. I slammed into the concrete barrier at about 55 mph and began spinning back across the interstate and stopped next to a guardrail. When I hit the concrete barrier, my seatbelt didn't catch and my whole body slid forward into the steering wheel, dashboard, and windshield. My face hit the windshield. The airbags never inflated.

9 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2025

My front camera is often unavailable. I took it in multiple times and they couldn’t find an issue. Recently my back up camera has been acting up. It is unavailable most of the time, other times the screen is black, sometimes it’ll work and then cut out. There is a recall on other Ford vehicles for this issue. I looked up if it needs a software update and it doesn’t. We’ve checked the camera and wiring harness and they’re both intact and in good condition.

10 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/21/2024

During the month of Dec 2024 my car didnt start. I called triple a to jump start my car to get home. During christmas break of 2024 I purchased a brand new battery and now a month and two weeks later the battery is completely dead again. Sometimes is hard to get the car up to speed and feels like it struggles to maintain it as well. The electrical system also kicks my radio connection off and on while driving. The first incident happened Dec. 21,2023 and the second incident happened Jan. 27,2025.

1. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? answer: the hybrid system/battery caught fire. The vehicle is with the insurance company allstate, I believe should be available for inspection upon request. 2. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? answer: the vehicle caught fire after just dropping my kid in to his school, the school has to be evacuated as the vehicle burned near the building. 3. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? answer: there is an existing recall "phev battery cell degragation" from Ford. Here is the campaign/NHTSA#: 23s33/23v440 4. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? answer: the fire marshall and the police was present and we had police report(case num: [xxx]) and fire marshall report(case num: [xxx]) 5. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? answer: I did notice an unusual behavior, like minutes before the fire the ac fan suddenly turned up blowing a non cold air, I attempted to turn off the vehicle 2 or 3 times until the fan and the vehicle completely turned off. I turned it back on to have ac again and it was good, after like less than 5 minutes I turned off the vehicle to get out of the car with my kid to drop him in his school. Minutes after I returned to the car, there was already smoke, had to call 911 after that. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

16 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/20/2024

I could not find a link for complaints, so I am reporting a complaint here. I got a notice of recall in July 2023 (NHTSA recall 23v-440) for this vehicle and almost a year later there is no fix or updated communication on whether the battery energy control module for this vehicle can be modified to be made safe. I was told to stop charging the car due to a possible fire hazard, and this defeats the purpose that I purchased it for in the first place. I have been forced to buy (increasiingly expensive) gasoline for the past 10+ months whereas before the recall, I almost never purchased gas - just charged the car. I want to make a formal complaint against Ford motor corporation for their lack of action and communication on the status of this problem and when it is likely to be solved. Thank you.

17 Electrical System problem

The local dealer was made aware of the issue and confirmed that parts were not yet available. Recently while driving at 25 mph, the contact stated that an abnormal, popping sound emitted from the vehicle. A red triangle and an unknown warning message also appeared on the instrument panel. The vehicle's cabin began to fill with heavy grayish smoke as the contact and her husband immediately exited the vehicle. The authorities were called to the scene and disconnected all electrical wires from the vehicle. No fire was reported. A police report was filed. The contact's husband, who recently had surgery on his left rotator cuff, fell on his left shoulder upon exiting the vehicle. The contact's husband sought medical treatment from a doctor who examined the shoulder; no additional injuries were discovered; however, the contact's husband had sustained additional pain upon falling from the vehicle. The vehicle was initially towed to an independent mechanic where upon examination, the mechanic recommended that the vehicle be taken to a dealer. The vehicle was then towed to the dealer where it remained in their possession for an inspection. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was 48,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

19 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/18/2024

The manufacturer is taking an unreasonably long time to remedy the situation affected by this recall. There has been virtually no communication, and their customer service isn't even aware of the issue unless reminded of it. I bought this car to be able to save on gas, and for the past year, I've pretty much been driving a regular hybrid that I have to pay extra to register because it's a partial ev, even though it's really not any more. They need to do right by us.

20 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/12/2024

I just purchased (4/12/24) a used Ford Fusion energy from a Ford dealership with out them notifying me of any recall. I am concerned the car may start on fire. The dealership did not disclose there was a recall on this vehicle.

23 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 03/05/2024

My car has been under recall (NHTSA recall 23v440) without a remedy since June of last year. According to Ford if I charge my car (it is a phev) I risk damaging major components and/or the car catching on fire. Ford is not making any effort to repair my car in a timely manner. They will not provide a firm date for when they plan to fix this recall. I have called Ford and asked them to make this right and they have refused, saying that my state's lemon laws do not obligate them in any way to help me. I cannot sell the car because the resale value of the car has plummeted since the recall was issued. I only owned the car for 3 months before the recall happened.

24 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2024

A recall on the electrical system of my plug in hybrid does not allow me to use the electrical portion of my vehicle. The main reason I purchased this vehicle was to use all electric with the option of having a gas powered vehicle. Until this is remedied, the dealership said that I cannot charge my vehicle. This was the major selling point of this vehicle. I also cannot sell this vehicle because no dealership will purchase this vehicle with this major recall (that has been issued with no remedy since June of last year (10 months ago).

25 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 02/02/2024

There is currently an active recall with no remedy being made available as of 6/16/2023. In this recall it is stated excess voltage and current flow through the becm can result in a loss of motive power which increases the risk of a crash, or a vehicle fire in the trunk area. The safety of my family, which includes a two year old who is in a car seat in the back seat has been put at risk every day due to this issue not being remedied and continuing to have a potential for vehicle fire every time we start the car. Ford has advised to not charge the vehicle, however there is a system that allows for recharge while breaking. I have pulled the following information from the Ford website. . . "regenerative braking, when you apply the brakes in a conventional vehicle, kinetic energy is lost due to friction. During braking in a Ford hybrid, however, regenerative braking recovers more than 90%* of this energy, sending it back to the battery to be stored for later use. " with this feature the battery is still being engaged and putting my daughter at risk. It would be extremely time consuming to run around the vehicle to her location then unbuckle and pull her out from the car seat after having to pull over once alerted to the car being on fire, potentially while on the highway. Its unlikely that we would reach her in time to save her. Another consideration for risk would be to other drivers on the road. Creating an emergency such as vehicle fire has high probability to cause others to become distracted while driving leading to more injuries. Vehicle has been taken to the Ford dealership on multiple occasions in 2023 for battery issues. We request to see the issue completely resolved or for Ford to buy the vehicle back.

26 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/20/2024

The contact owns a 2019 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle stalled. The contact stated that on several occasions the vehicle failed to start. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who replaced the battery, but the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 33,084.

27 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/19/2024

The contact owns a 2019 Ford Fusion energi. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 23v440000 (electrical system) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. The local dealer was not contacted. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

28 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/15/2023

Continually receiving "see manual" message while driving, will intermittently appear and disappear. At times, the plug-in battery will completely stop working while still charged (more frequent in colder weather). It always resets/removes the "see manual" warning upon next vehicle start. Engine shutters and pings when turning the car off and is rather intense and seems potentially damaging. When driving at low speeds and when changing speeds, engine will not shift correctly when accelerator is pressed, and then will suddenly engage and lurch forward. And when slowing down braking system is not consistent, often have to depress brake harder than normal. Hybrid battery will also stop working when "see manual" message is on. At times the check engine light will come on, code p0b24, checked by Ford dealer (norm reeves, cerritos, CA) on 12/21/23, 'hybrid battery a voltage unstable'. Known recall but they have no fix. Dealer says corporate office has to authorize any sort of loaner car or arrange for rental car, however website says "contact your local dealership directly" when I enter my info for the recall. Called Ford corporate on 1/15/24, their answer is "we have no fix for this" regarding both fixing the car and providing us with a working vehicle. They would not take down any of our contact information or give us any other outlet to contact.

29 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/01/2023

This has happened multiple times now. Always happens at high speeds (greater than 45 mph). I will be driving on a highway when I unexpectedly lose the ability to accelerate. First noticed in correlation with the collision detection feature showing on the display as not functioning. That does not happen anymore, but I still lose the ability to accelerate periodically. Once I can safely remove myself from the flow of traffic and stop/restart my car the issue is resolved. Makes me believe this is electrical/computer origin. The vehicle was taken to the dealership twice where they claim “cannot duplicate” but are willing to replace any item that I will pay for out of pocket. The dealership does not want to honor my extended warranty. The vehicle was purchased new in 2019. Within one year they had to replace half my engine (which they decided to do without warning when I dropped off for an oil change). The vehicle was stolen in 2023 (recovered by me in under 24 hours). Multiple cosmetic issues were repaired by a Ford authorized service team. This issue presented about 1. 5 months ago 4+ months after the vehicle was repaired.

30 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 11/30/2023

I put car into park to use the atm and then could not get it back into gear it gave a lot of different issues system fault error oil pressure errors battery error collision error and I ended up replacing the gear shift bushing which had deteriorated and broke off and that fixed most of issues now car makes loud blaring alarm sound that is not the normal car dinging it's loud and high pitched and acts like my battery is dead but won't start or shows any signs it is being jumped. Like the battery is completely dead won't take or hold charge.

31 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 11/25/2023

Historically, the vehicle has been in shop for repairs of the becm. Becm was replaced on 12/23/22 with 44,217 miles on the car. On 11/25/23 while driving on city streets the car completely shut down and warning light came on telling us to immediatel pull over and stop the car. During this incident we detected an odor of something burning. The car was towed home and will be towed to the dealer for diagnostics and repair.

32 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 11/17/2023

2019 Ford Fusion . Just stopped running while driving . Everything just quit working . Took to shop they replaced alternator and battery . After driving a month car did exact same thing again. I think this is more than an alternator problem.

33 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 11/10/2023

My car in February of 202: got stuck in park they said it was electrical issue, then months later I ended up with a coolant leak that then combusted my engine. New engine in August of 2023 fast forward to November 2023 my car is doing the same thing it stalled in the road with myself and newborn in the car, lost all speed and now it will not go in drive or reverse just like it did in February of 2023. It’s been in the shop twice and now ongoing it’s third time and I find this to be a severe issue because if my car is going to keep stalling while driving there is no reason to keep fixing this car. I’m aware past Fusion’s have been recalled for something of similar problems so it makes me wonder if this should be recalled as well.

34 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/29/2023

The contact owns a 2019 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle lost all motive power. The contact was able to coast to the shoulder of the roadway. The check engine and battery warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the becm. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related it to NHTSA campaign number 23v440000 (electrical system), and the VIN was included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was 47,000.

35 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/26/2023

The contact owns a 2019 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the rear-view camera activated while in drive, and later failed to turn off after reversing. The contact also stated that the instrument panel and infotainment system acted erratically, turning off, not reacting to function buttons, and freezing. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the apim. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 19,000.
