3 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2026

Coolant leaking into cylinders on my 2019 Ford Fusion 1. 5l ecoboost—white smoke, rough idle, and wont start now. Ford's 21n12 program expired before I could get it fixed. Tons of owners report the same; it's a safety hazard.

4 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

6 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 12/08/2025

Vehicle has a known Ford 2. 0l ecoboost coolant intrusion / head gasket defect per multiple complaints on different forums on recently googled searches. At approximately 126,000 miles, vehicle began losing coolant with no visible external leaks, producing white smoke on startup, rough idle/misfires, and check engine light. Vehicle also began overheating intermittently. Heating system stopped working, indicating coolant flow failure. Symptoms are consistent with internal coolant intrusion into cylinders due to head gasket failure, a widely reported defect in Ford ecoboost engines. Issue presents a safety risk due to potential engine failure while driving, loss of power, and overheating. Vehicle requires major engine repair or replacement. This failure occurred despite regular maintenance and appears to be a premature engine defect, not wear and tear. I was recently at the dealership on December 8th with no other issues detected after they replaced a part on my car that failed that I had to pay for ( a p175b-00 ). This had nothing to do with what is going on currently, they ran tests at this dealership and did not detect anything as of December 8th. This was at a Ford dealership. Tests were ran and inspected by manufacturer. Fast forward to a week ago I started having the above symptoms and this was diagnosed by family-friend auto mechanic. I have had multiple issues with this car. The transmission blew at 50 thousand miles, the sun roof leaked ( the seal for the sunroof was defective) into my prnd control shifter causing thousands of dollars in damage, a p175b-00, causing my car to not be able to park, causing chaos for weeks. I have only owned this car since December 2020. I still owe 7 thousand on this vehicle and I am at a complete loss. I really just want Ford to take accountability for this make and model as it never fits the guidelines for recalls on anything. I want justice for myself and others with these multiple issues coming from Ford cars.

7 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 11/03/2025

2019 Ford Fusion equipped with the 1. 5l ecoboost engine has experienced overheating and misfire issues, linked coolant intrusion into the engine cylinders, which can lead to engine overheating and potential fire hazards. This is a known issue by Ford but they have not issued a recall, or even let me know in the 6 years that I have had the vehicle.

8 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 10/06/2025

According to auto zone, after being placed on scanner, the power train system (p0456) has a evaporative emissions system leak (very small leak) diagnosed at 76,919miles. Ford dealership says they cannot find a problem. When I put gas in the car I have to sit and wait at least 10 minutes before my car will start again. It takes a couple of tries and much hesitation, but it will start. Once you get started it has difficulty accelerating or may slow down on its own. Again, Ford dealership reports they can't seem to find a problem. When I told them the problem, they came up with a price to charge me to fix something they could not find. Ridiculous!! my Ford app clearly states check engine problem detected, but nooooo they cannot find anything wrong. Two different dealerships. Thank god I keep my paperwork because others are complaining of the same thing. They have to put the pen to the paper or we will never get a recall.

9 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 09/18/2025

Engine diagnosed with coolant intrusion problem into the engine cylinders. Car failed at 138k needing 12k repair from Ford dealership which is more than the value of the car. Transmission shifter bushing went out also in this car even though Ford did a recall for previous years of the model the issue has not been fixed.

10 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2025

Check engine light was on and off intermittently for a few months starting in March of 2025. No immediate problem then, vehicle had 89 90k miles. In August. The vehicles coolant was leaking into the engine . Rendering a misfire in the cylinder and blowing the head gasket after mechanical diagnosis but not checked immediately due to symptoms not occurring till after a few weeks in August. Car not once over heated but then would not start. The car would then not go past a 40 mph without the transmission pushing very hard. After 3rd party mechanic diagnosis, I looked into potential recall on Fords website and in fact there was one but I was never notified of. So I contacted Ford . The said yes, your car is under warranty, however after taking it in, they refused to repair the damages since the problem occurred 10k miles passed the mileage listed on the warranty for the repair. The car is unsafe and not drivable and the issue, which they knew would occur, did not happen till 10k miles passed Fords set parameters in which even if I took it in at that timeframe listed, the problem was not noticeable to be fixed. Very unsafe and unfair to the consumer.

11 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 08/29/2025

Going approximately 55 miles an hour on the freeway and my car starts profusely shaking. I pulled to the side of the highway tow truck comes up behind me. Ann, my cylinder 4 was noted to be misfiring. I had it towed to midas and that is where it was determined that engine coolant leaked into my cylinders and now being told that my car requires a new engine!! mind you I have already paid 5k to replace the timing chain because apparently my car skipped timing due to oil pan leak. Both of these issues are posted on TSB bulletins on the Ford website. I am not going to pay 11k for a new engine not to mention the 5k I already paid and all my other maintenance that I have paid for. Ford was deceptive knowing selling these vehicles with a qa issue! and they refuse to assist the consumer. They need to be held accountable for their negligence!!.

12 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 08/28/2025

Engine coolant intrusion in cylinders 2 and 3. This is a known issue with my particular build of car (4 cylinder 1. 5l eco boost engine).

13 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 08/26/2025

Internal coolant leak into cylinder heads causing overheating and engine failure. Dealer confirmed diagnosis in writing. This matches Ford TSB 19-2346, but Ford refuses coverage since over 100k miles. This creates a safety hazard; vehicle overheats suddenly and can stall while driving.

14 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 08/21/2025

My car is at 119,000 miles and 2019 Ford Fusion. I was driving on a local street when my cars warning popped up with a notice that my cars coolant was overheated. 17 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 08/12/2025

Yesterday, 08/12/2025, I was driving my vehicle on I-70 in rural kansas, to drop my mother off at the airport, and my 9-year-old daughter was in the vehicle. My vehicle's temperature went directly to warning status, and I was no longer able to accelerate. I immediately put my hazards on and tried to make my way to the nearest exit to ensure we were in a safe position. Ford knows that coolant intrusion is possible in the engine block. While discussing with Ford today on the phone from 11:07 am until 11:34 am, and being escalated to a supervisor, they said that nothing could be done on their end, and advised to contact NHTSA. The safety of myself and others was at risk because of the faulty manufacturing of the engine and coolant system, which they report is part of a customer satisfaction program, but this is a major safety concern because, in the event it was not midday and there were more vehicles on the road, there could have been an accident. Ford customer satisfaction program 21n12 one-time repair for vehicles included in 19b37 this is a known issue Ford recognizes through their customer satisfaction program. They are unwilling to assist, although in 2022, I was under the mileage specifications included in the customer satisfaction program.

26 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 05/27/2025

Coolant leakage (no warning light/alert for driver) cause significant damage to engine block. Damage lead to cylinder misfiring and oil leakage. Oil leakage/check engine light occurred same day, prompting scheduling service at Ford dealership. Ford service center states short block needs replaced and car is not safe to drive. Upon research, this is a known issue for this make/model/year and has an open customer satisfaction program that covers the cost of repairs. However, both service center and Ford customer service state this vehicle's VIN number is not included in the repair program, despite acknowledging this is the same problem addressed in the repair program. Ford customer service recommended submitting this problem and the car's VIN to NHTSA for possible inclusion in the outstanding recall.

29 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 05/19/2025

In 2020, I received a notice from Ford that my 2019 Ford Fusion had a customer satisfaction program repair. I took the vehicle to an authorized Ford dealer in April of 2020 to have the repair completed, which to my knowledge was completed by the service technicians at Ford. Today, my car broke down while I was traveling to work. I was able to get it to an authorized Ford service dealer and they informed me that my engine was going to need to be replaced due to coolant leaking into the engine. According to Ford, they are not willing to help with the cost of fixing the engine, since my mileage is past what is stated on the csp notice, even though this was supposedly fixed 5 years ago, way before the mileage that was required and the car was still under warranty. Now, I'm stuck trying to figure out how to pay for a new engine, when Ford knew about this issue and is unwilling to help their customers even when they do the right thing.

Ford 2. 0l ecoboost engine. 2017-2019 Fusion. Also, in 2 other Ford and Lincoln models. I bought 2019 Fusion used and car has just under 69000 miles. Due to a known engine defect there can be coolant intrusion into a cylinder. In my case #2 cylinder. See TSB # 22-2229 from Ford. Check engine light came on. Took to dealer and replaced 1 ign coil and 4 spark plugs. Thought issue resolved until check engine light came back on. Returned to dealer and advise that engine needed replacement.
