Vehicle was stationary foot on brakes in reverse. My sister touched the back of the car with her hand I heard a loud beeeeeeep then never heard any sound again. Not even when the keys are left in the ignition or when I'm unbuckled. Not a single sound. Then 3 months later the brakes were stalling so I got new rotors and pads and they still stall/ shake. As if that wasn't enough now it just doesn't start: I've googled all these problems and I'm not the only one. Ford should not be allowed to keep selling the same broken cars.

This is a common issue in 2010 Fusions as you can find lots of similar experiences. While heading towards an exit on the highway going 70mph, the steering suddenly lost all power steering. Two warnings appeared on the display saying "service advancetrac" and "power steer assist failure. " everything returns to normal after restarting the car and it happens once again at random.

I was driving downhill on freeway running approx 70 mph when the steering wheel just went stiff. Power steering just shut off without any warning. I managed to get off at the following exit . Then when I came to a full stop I had to force the steering to turn. The warning light for steering problem came on after I shut off vehicle and restarted. I had the car diagnosed and mechanic said that the steering gear needed to be replaced and damages did not look like it was caused by normal driving. Estimated costs 2500. 00. I checked the recent recalls and NHTSA campaign number: 19v632000 it fits the description but Ford advised that VIN# was not part of the recall and it most of vehicles were in the east coast. I told them that my car came from the east coast (mn) .

Electronic power steering suddenly failed, error message displayed: "power steering assist fault; service advancetrac". Failure occurred at low speed, shortly after startup.
Service power steering light came on as I was driving home. The next morning I turned on the car and it said service power steering now. Have seen that I am one of the many people having this issue. Should be recalled and fixed not just the 2011 which is just one year newer.

My powersteering and advantrac both are still acting crazy. I was told that my VIN wasn't apart of the same recall that is currently issued for my 2012 Ford Fusion. At random times the powersteering notfication and advanctrac alert with come and my steering will with completely lock up with very little time from the alert. This has happened with both intown and highway driving.

Whenever I make a certain turn my wheel locks up and I can no longer turn without wrestling my wheel to turn. My dashboard starts to go off and I get a message power assist at fault. I would have to turn my car off and on a couple times for me to be able to drive again without any issues. It gets worse when I'm about to pull out from a parking spot, that's when it mainly starts.

The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving at 30 mph, the power steering and the traction control failed causing the vehicle to crash into a ditch. The contact crashed into a pole coming to a stop and the air bags did not deploy. The contact stated that the maintenance service track and the service power steering now warning messages illuminated prior to the failure. The police were notified and a report was filed. No medical attention was required at the scene, however, the mother and the contact suffered from back pain after the crash. The vehicle was first towed to a tow yard and later to the contact's home. The vehicle was not destroyed; the vehicle had not been repaired or taken to a dealer. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed her that there was a recall on her vehicle NHTSA recall number: 19v001000 (air bags) . The failure mileage was 188,000.
When driving this vehicle and you go to make a stop with the vehicle at like 20 miles to 15 miles per hour the braking system go to breaks really hard or jerk. Make it hard for you to stop. And feel like you about to fly through the window. Making the traction control and hill assist light indicate, and the light will go back out on the vehicle as if not happened once the car is in motion. At 5 to 10 miles per hour. This will happen very often while driving.
I drove my car to the next town over running errands and my Fusion makes an alarm similar to a low fuel but more urgent sounding. The cluster reads servivlce power steering now and service advance trac. I lost power steering/ assistance and with advance trac off I know I have no stability control or traction control. Luckily I was driving because I can say with confidence my wife could not have turned the car off the road to safety with it being front wheel drive. We arrived at out destination and my arms were burning from fighting it into a tight parking spot. I left it off for a while and tried again and the service power steering now warning was back. I built up the strength to make the drive back home. Entering the road at 10 mph the service advance trac now warning goes off. We made it home safely and I don't want my 3 year old daughter to get back in it until it's repaired. I called Ford and they said there was no recall and I did my research before talking to them and I said "how is this not a safety recall, I've read on forums this is a $2000 repair" and he agreed like he knew exactly what my issue was.
Steering wheel is hard to steer and a message keeps coming up on the dash saying service track.
All of a sudden when I was driving the power steering went out. The traction control also went off and will not come back on. I was on the highway when this happened and it will not come back on.
I was driving on hwy 23 when all of sudden the dash light came on saying default trac service soon. Then my steering went out && it was like I had no power steering. About 2 weeks prior I had to have tyson rod ends put on inside & out after just having them replaced in April. My airbag light comes on saying passenger airbag. A noise like a rubbing/scraping noise every time I turn the steering wheel that I've had the car looked at several times.
I started my car when leaving work and received an error that the power steering failed. I followed the guidelines in the book and turned off the car for 30 seconds and restarted. On restart the error returned. I drove car to mechanic and had no power steering. After talking with mechanic attempted to leave and still no power steering. Another error turned on prior to leaving the parking lot with advancetrac failure. Left car at mechanic. Error sounds similar to other Ford and Lincoln cars with power steering failure.
While driving the car on both the highway and on city streets the steering locked and the power assist quit. The mil traction control symbol lit and the warning center said it was disabled. The mil steering assist control symbol lit and the warning center said it was disabled. In both driving instances the steering wheel was being turned from moderate (interstate highway speed) turning to sharp turning (city street speed). In both instances I was able to avoid hitting close, surrounding vehicles and in the case of the city occurrence, pedestrians. In both instances I pulled the vehicle to the side of the road and shut off the engine and accessories. I waited about a minute and performed an engine re-start. The mil's were not lit and the power steering assist returned. In both instances the same condition appeared about 20 minutes later, and a engine stop/re-start had to be performed. I have included photos of the dashboard information center. This is a 2016 Fusion with 65,000 miles and I believe there is an electrical problem with the steering rack.
Advance track, abs, traction control, blindspot, all light up on display. When accelerating car it makes a stalling jerking motion. Frequently when applying the brakes it's jumping forward and making loud noises. Also when releasing breaks, it makes a spring like noise. The power steering light comes on and all of a sudden becomes very difficult to steer which is a major safety concern.
Tl- the contact owns a 2006 Ford Fusion. The contact VIN number was associated to recall NHTSA campaign number: 19v904000 (service brakes, hydraulic). The contact stated that all american Ford in paramus (located at 375 NJ-17, paramus, NJ 07652, (201) 262-4900) exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The part was not available for the repair. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect. Dp.

When turning on car at the Ford dealership following repair of recalled airbag the warning light to service electronic trac system. Steering wheel would not turn. Service writer checked codes and nothing came up. I was told to just turn it off and back on and that would reset it. That worked. It continued to do that on and off the next 2 weeks. Then it would not reset. We tried to drive it stopping and starting it to try to reset it. It suddenly became really difficult to steer and my husband lost control and ran over a curb on city street . Luckily no one was on the curb or sidewalk . No injuries. Ford says the electronic steering is out and will need to be replaced costing over 18,000$. I have 133,000 miles on car.
Electric steering start on hwy acting up phone Ford and they says no recall on them but I know owners that have had the same problem phone Ford and they said nothing they can do but the one year nwer is recall yet the the I have has the same parts see the link for my 2010 Fusion https://CA. Search. Yahoo. Com/search?p=2010+Ford+fusion+steering+problems&fr=yfp-t&fp=1&toggle=1&cop=mss&ei=utf-8.
Throttle body/fuel rail pressure sensor failure. I believe that there was a recall on this part for the earlier Fusion models, but not the 2016 models, and that recall should be updated. While either driving under 40mph or sitting idle, the car's engine would shut off while the electrics would remain on. This can cause other vehicles to crash into me and cause serious injury or worse.
Car is a 2010 Ford Fusion hybrid 93kmile. On November 14, 2019 at 7am, car was approaching to a traffic intersection. Car did not stop when apply break hit on the back of van standing on the traffic light. Used the hand break to slow down and since the speed was low when hit the front van. No major damage occur except scratch and escaped from accident. Took to Ford dealership in east widsor, NJ (halman Ford). After diagnosis the result shows the abs break control unit is not functioning and should be replaced. It cost $1588+ tax. Called Ford. They told they don't have any program for this issue and don't provide any assistance for repair.
The power steering stopped working. For about 1. 5 months when I would turn on the vehicle the dash would notify of a power steering fault and power steering would not work (steering wheel near impossible to move). However, if I turned the car off and back on the fault would go away and power steering would return to normal. Unfortunately now the power steering is permanently not working and the car is no longer safe to drive. Stability control warning also came on immediately after. Extremely glad power steering did not go out while I was driving, it would have likely caused me to crash since steering is so hard to use without power steering. I did some research Ford has a recall for this exact issue for the 2011 and 2012 Fusions but not the 2010 but appears the 2010 is affected by the same defect.
My cars power steering has completely ceased up. I bought it used just over a year ago in July 2018. The light has come on for service along with the traction control light. My car has roughly 170,000 miles, maybe a little less. In looking up this issue, there is a disturbing amt of people with the exact issue who have actually had accidents because of this. Luckily I have not but my car is now worthless as there is no way I'll be able to afford the repairs yet I still have to pay for the loan. My car was in motion when this happened however my boyfriend was driving on the highway, roughly at 70mph, and was able to continue driving. I dont have the muscle to do this, nor am I taking the risk. I also know my VIN is not covered under the recall but Ford should know by now that there is obviously something going on with other cars not covered by the recall. This problem needs to be resolved! someone is going to get killed if they havent already. It's not right to just ignore this issue. Something needs to be done.
Two issues: while driving error message maintenance power steering now came on. Automatic steering went. Twice again after the mechanic reset it. Extremely difficult to turn. Could be extremely dangerous. I took the car to the local dealer, (walker Ford, clearwater, FL) and although there is a recall it doesn't apply to my vehicle. Very expensive to fix, in the $2000 range. The other problem which is the first reason we went to the mechanic. The front end has been making noises, creaking and crunching when making turns or cold. That issue needs control arm replaced which is connected to the subframe very costly. I have seen both these issued addressed in numerous complaints online. Front suspension control arm problem of the 2012 Ford Fusion 2 failure date: 03/02/2019 this below is what happened in detail. The low tire pressure light came on inside the dash as I was driving so I drove about to get air. After I put air in the tire, started the car and immediately got a warning that power steering needed servicing. Then got another warning that advance track needed servicing. All happened at the same time and the power steering was completely gone out. Controlling rack needs replacing. 2000 the service dept said the gear inside the power steering rack has gone bad and the control arms it sits on has worn out the gear therefore needing front lower control arms costing $1500.
Hi, my name is jacob endom and I own a 2011 Ford Fusion. In November of 2019, I noticed my brakes acting differently almost in an instant. Everything was fine and normal when I stopped my car and when it was time to go again, I immediately could sense a difference in the performance. I drove it around for a while and was aware I was having to pump the pedal to get it to stop the vehicle. It was frightening to get used to because the first couple times I would pump nothing would happen and then it would catch up and work partially. Enough to stop the car but with much more difficulties. I told my family what I was experiencing because I was using my car for my job as a doordash delivery driver. They told me with as much driving as I have to do, that I don't need to be on the road with this issue. Long story short, my brakes still aren't repaired. I've spent close to 3,500 on repairs between 3 different mechanics. I even took out a $1200 loan for one last shot and it got me know where. So I am having to pay around $1800 back to the loan company. I still owe money to my mom, grandmas, and grandpas for helping. A little over a thousand to each and I have to pay off the loan. The worst part is I have not been able to work since then. So I have no work history or proof of insurance since then. I am also getting mail saying I owe $367 by August 2nd or they will repo my car. I wish I could just get this repaired so I won't have to lose the car after all this and still pay what I owe on it, also messing up my credit. Also having paid way more then the car is worth. And there are many complaints of the same sort with other owners of this make and model. It's just been an extremely stressful situation for me and my family. My family has even begun to be upset with me because the money invested wasn't worth anything and I have no way of paying them back. I live on my own rent.
On 5 November 2019 while traveling I-270 in maryland without prior warning my brake pedal went all the way to the floor, and the following warning lights came brake, abs, and traction control. This vehicle was extremely difficult to slow down or stop on the highway. This repair cost me $1335. 53 and sounds very similar to the Ford recall announced on December 19th involving 2006-2010 Fusions. Mine is a 2011.
While driving to work 11/4/19 I got a message on the dash saying power steering now and advancetrac when it came time to make a turn at a light after exiting the hwy I had to struggle and pull . . . I couldn't believe my car lost power just like that. 71k miles no warning before that day of steering problems.
While driving my 2010 Ford Fusion the power steering stopped working and the car became difficult to maneuver. The information display said power steering assist fault. As I turned to get out of traffic a second message said service advancetrac.
I purchased a new 2010 Ford Fusion hybrid se from a Ford dealership in fairfax, va. After owning the vehicle for approximately 9 years, the vehicle no longer operates in electric mode (it only operates in gas mode). My average mpg has dropped from 37-40 mpg to 25-27 mpg. I took it to a Ford dealership service center manassas, va in Nov 2019 who indicated they are aware of the problem but they have no solution to fix it (they initially were going to charge me $150 diagnostic fee but waived the fee and sent me home). There are numerous reports in Ford vehicle forums with the same complaint. Consensus is that Ford programmed the electronic mode to stop working after 9 years. When I purchased the vehicle, there was no disclosure that I would no longer have a properly working hybrid after 9 years. This end-of-life decision would have to be programmed into the vehicle's ecu at the time of manufacturing and should have been disclosed by Ford at the time of purchase. Had Ford disclosed this, it would have directly impacted my decision to purchase the vehicle. The fix appears to be reprogramming the vehicle to make it think it is less than 9 years old which returns the hybrid functions to normal. According to several forums, some Ford service centers have conduct this fix, but the majority of Ford service centers are not willing/able to resolve this issue. This issue has been identified in Ford's oasis database with no solution. TSB #ssm 48238 NHTSA id #10167224 was announced in oct 2019. . Read more...
I pulled in my driveway, parked 2011 Ford Fusion and then shut vehicle off. I returned, started vehicle, went to start driving my vehicle out of driveway and the car started beeping and listed that the power steering did not work. I looked it up online and there was a recall for steering: electric power assist system failure (15v340000 or 15s18). I took to dealership and will attach quote which their recommendation is exactly what Ford's recommendation was. However my car doesn't fall into the correct date for this recall, I am happy that I was not driving 75mph down insterstate 70 in wheeling, wv or driving up to west liberty, wv where I work. Either could have resulted in a horrible accident for me, my kids and potentially other vehicles involved. The car has only 73,000 miles on it roughly and is in excellent condition.
Advance trac light and power steering light came on this morning dont know why car doesn't take power steering fluid this is the first time this has happened since 2015 when I first purchased it.
Well I get out this morning to take my kids to school when I crank the car and we start riding the service advancetrac light came on in blank then the service power steering light came on. So after I drop them off I was on my way home the light continue to blink as I pulled up in my driveway the steering wheel start to get hard to steer so I'll park got out well so I'll part pop the hood got out and check for power steering on to realize that is not one because it's electric. So when I look online to my surprise everybody with a Ford Fusion is having the same as a problem different year different engine size but same problem no one seems to have a solution because it's many things that can cause the problem is very stressful I think y'all should have that on recall to help better assist people with the problems. Unfortunately I hate the fact that my my warranty is up as father with a family of five don't have the money to afford to pay for to get it fixed.
In August 2016, I cranked my car (a 2011 Ford Fusion hybrid) in my driveway and noticed the service advancetrac, brake failure system, and abs lights lit up on the dash. I tried to back out and notcied the electric break were not working and the break peddle was to the floor and difficult to press. The car was towed to a Ford dealer. They kept the car for a week and could not find a probelm. The lights went off and the probelm was resolved on its own. In August 2019, this probelm happened again. I cranked the car in a parking lot and noticed the same warning lights from 3 years ago were on. I was able to get home, but the brakes were not very responsive and were significiantly further down than usual. I took the car to a Ford dealership and they claimed they "reset the system" and the problem was resolved. A few weeks later, the issue reoccured. The dealership said they did not know how to relsove the problem. After about 4 days the warning lights went off and the brakes returned to normal. On October 20, 2019 the warning lights came on again and the issue is still occuring. The car is drivable, but it does not feel safe. It could not come to an abrupt stop if needed and I live on a highway where people often pull out in front of me. In 2009, Ford issued a software update for the brake system for Fusion hybrids. It seems later hybrid models also need a software update. I have read that replacing the brakes or abs control module does not reslove the probelm. It is an issue with the computer system.
Last week I received a recall for the airbags on my vehicle. Before I called for an appointment, I checked the recall on line and noticed the steering is also being recalled. Two days later while driving, lights started going off on my dashboard. The steering and tsc lights were blinking and ringing. I had no idea what to do! I read the dashboard which said check my power steering fluid, ther is no fluid well??? I called my Ford dealer and was told we will fix the airbag, but have no idea about the steering issues, my car has no recall for that I told them I was looking right at the recall notice, and since I wasn't notified, they can't fix it. I told her I cannot drive the vehicle that the car won't steer, she told me to have it towed in. I have purchased a 1990 bronco I, a 1999 Ford ranger and a 2007 escape from this same dealer. These vehicles have as follows: 660k,588k and 290k miles on them. My ranger still has the original muffler. Is this the way I should be treated. If the car has been recalled for steering, which you can easily see from the tire wear, than why doesn't Ford stand up and repair it, since there is a recall. I could fix it myself, but Ford has blocked the computer usage, do I need to bypass that also. I'm a simple man who loves his Fords. I brag constantly about my vehicles. I brag constantly about my dealer. I feel betrayed!!!.
