The vehicle was taken to wynne Ford (1020 w Mercury blvd, hampton, va 23666, (757) 838-3673) and the contact was informed that there was no recall for the power steering failure. The vehicle was driven home without being diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer stated that there was no recall and provided a case number. The failure mileage was 128,800.
Power steering failure after warning as vehicle was started. I was able to drive with superhuman effort directly to the nearest Ford dealer in escondido, California where we were when the incident occurred. Internet sources indicate that this failure is common and we identified a recall related to the issue. The dealer replaced the power steering rack and refused to apply the known issue recall. The manufacturer informed the contact to have the vehicle taken to a Ford dealer for diagnostic testing. The local Ford dealer was notified. The failure mileage was approximately 110,000.
Power steering and advancetrac failed during driving. The steering wheel suddenly became very hard to turn. I barely could avoid a collision. In an earlier event, the hybrid system malfunctioned and the car accelerated with maximum electric power despite the foot being off the accelerator. The vehicle could be stopped and and worked again normally after turning off the ignition key.
