Driving the vehicle on local street. Exhibited loud noise and started to vibrate. Eventually coming to an abrupt stop. Luckily traffic as light and the car behind managed to stop safely and avoid a collision. Managed to turn the car off then back on and it was operational, exhibiting kind of grinding noise. Ford dealer says the transmission failed and needs to be replaced. Car is fully serviced, no warning lights even when the problem occurred - there was nothing indicating an issue with the car on the dashboard. The car has a bit less than 105k miles, warranty expired at 100k in December 2017. Ford has a few tsbs describing cvt transmissin issues: 14b07 and 17-039. 7 Transmission Noise problem of the 2014 Ford Fusion Hybrid

Failure Date: 11/11/2017

Hello everyone. I have a 2014 Ford Fusion Hybrid titanium edition. I've gone to the same dealer that I purchased it from for all oil changes and service and tires. I have 152,000 miles on that car which is 2 1/2 years old. Yes it's a lot but it's my commute car. I drive 160 miles a day for work. Last weekend my hubby pointed out a noise. I thought alignment. But the noise sounded like rear wheel bearings that failed. Even the dealership agreed. They change them. But it didn't help with the noise. And now they're telling me I need a brand new transmission on my hybrid. I know what a bad tranny sounds like and how it moves. There are a handful of articles on the internet about 2014 Ford Fusion Hybrid tranny going out. Honestly it's very rare. The dealership also said he has never seen a hybrid come in for a new tranny. I called Ford customerservice and basically they said sorry we can't help you. I feel Ford should be responsible for 1. The cost of the repair or 2. The buyback program for my car. I've looked on the bbb regarding the auto line for Ford and if this doesn't get resolved between Ford and I I'm going to go that route.

9 Transmission Noise problem of the 2017 Ford Fusion Hybrid

Failure Date: 02/01/2017

While driving my car on the freeway the computer screen shuts off and turns back on, this has happened several times, took the dealership and the now service manager said maybe it needs a update, which according to Ford it does not. While parked turned off, you can hear electrical componets making noises. I only have a video of it happening while driving that I cant upload. Also, the computer tried to eject a cd but I have never used the cd player. Also there is the transmission what when putting in drive or reverse kicks really hard. There was a couple times the car couldnt changer geers like the rpm were reving up but not changing geers.

10 Transmission Noise problem of the 2013 Ford Fusion Hybrid

Failure Date: 06/03/2013

While driving vehicle on highway, and odometer was at 3400 miles ;vehicle had no power while climbing. During the climb, vehicle could not maintain 35 mph. After getting to top of hill, vehicle drove fine at highway speed. Every climb after that point, vehicle would decelerate, and engine rpm's would rev to maximum. Took vehicle to 3 dealerships, and never test drove or diagnosed. The response from each dealership was this was normal for a hybrid. At 18000 miles heard a loud whining noise. Took vehicle to a 4th dealership where they discovered the transmission failed, and both cv axles were damaged around the boot. Dealership covered the transmission under warranty, but forced me to pay for the replacement of the cv axles, claiming the boots tore from road debris. Since then I had the vehicle inspected by an independent mechanic, and they stated that debris could not have tore the inner boot of the cv axle with the large fairing under the car. Unless there is a hole in the fairing. I contacted Ford directly, and they referred me to a manager who claims to be a metallurgist, and said the failure was my fault without inspecting the vehicle or axles. When I contacted the original dealership about this vehicle being in the service dept 15 times in less than 20,000 miles, all I received was a sorry.
