Failure Date: 12/01/2018

Tl the contact owns a 2016 Ford fusion energi. The contact stated that the defroster and windows were inoperable and provided low visibility. In addition, the check engine, side impact, and electronic malfunction warning indicators were illuminated. The vehicle was taken several times to roberts motors, inc. (4350 n alby st, alton, IL 62002, (855) 999-5497) where it was diagnosed that the computer module and wiring needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. 2 Wiring problem of the 2015 Ford Fusion Hybrid

Failure Date: 09/03/2017

The contact owns a 2015 Ford Fusion Hybrid. While driving 10 mph, the check brake warning indicator illuminated. When the brake pedal was depressed, the brakes failed to engage. The contact stated that the vehicle was eventually able to stop after depressing the brake pedal to the floorboard. Prior to the failure, the brakes were applied and worked fine. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it test driven. The mechanic discovered that there were no brakes. The vehicle was towed to garnet Ford (1610 wilmington pike, west chester, PA 19382 (610) 358-5600) where it was diagnosed that rodents chewed the body harness, which needed replacement. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was opened. The contact researched the failure online and found out the wires were made with a soy material that attracted rodents. The failure mileage was 45,711.

3 Wiring problem of the 2017 Ford Fusion Hybrid

Failure Date: 08/05/2017

The vehicle was purchased about 4 months ago with 3,000 miles. Have already filed a complaint with NHTSA regarding a problem with wiring harness which caused vehicle to lose power in traffic as well as change gears. Ford looked at the problem and said computer didn't record. Upon receiving car back (5th time for same electrical problem) the car began exhibiting the same problem. On 8/5/17, while in garage the alarm unexpectedly starting going on and off, doors locking and unlocking. See below for details. As of 8/17/17 Ford has not been able/willing to escalate it to senior engineering to explain why the events are not recorded in the computer. Please note, we have videos of the vehicle in motion and being loaded on tow truck while alarms etc are acting up. We believe this to be a very serious safety flaw. See below for details sent to Ford on 8/8/2017. 1. Called Ford roadside - 8/8/17 10:00pm (approx) 2. The car kept turning on and off. 3. Moved car to front so tow truck could get it 4. While I was driving from back of house to front, it put itself into park. And then back into drive. You could feel the electronic dial shifter move mechanically 5. Got to front of house. Alarm continued to trip. Left car on in accessory mode to keep alarm from going off and left in park. After 10 steps away from car (9:55pm) it put itself into drive and drove into the back of my truck. No damage that I can see. But have photos. 6. Decided to move back to garage as to not be a risk to neighbors. The car kept locking and unlocking doors. 7. It's now in garage. It keeps locking, unlocking and power cycling. . . And short alarm sounds 8. When tow truck arrived, alarm and other electrical issues persisted while being loaded and while the tow truck drove away again, we have a couple of videos, as well as 3 eye witnesses to confirm this behavior.

4 Wiring problem of the 2012 Ford Fusion Hybrid

Failure Date: 06/26/2016

Engine failed at stoplight with loss of power steering on 6/26/16. Restart successful. Subsequent multiple engine failure chimes occurred. Dealer "repaired wiring". Several hundred miles since, not further incidents (engine failures or multiple chimes).

5 Wiring problem of the 2011 Ford Fusion Hybrid

Failure Date: 12/12/2015

When decelerating, my car sometimes "jerks", accompanied by multiple warning lights and--dangerously--a total loss of engine power. The car goes dead, in the middle of the road, and has to be restarted by removing the key and reinserting it. This could cause a collision both from behind (by someone who doesn't realize that the car has just "died"--especially at night), as well as the "jerk" potentially causing me to collide with someone in front. My dealership told me that Ford had "put out a bulletin" regarding this issue, which called for the installation of a new wiring harness. And yet--inexplicably given that this is a safety hazard--this apparently "known" issue is not treated as a recall, with me being charged more than $500 for parts and labor. I've seen numerous reports of people with the same issue, many with less mileage than myself (97,000), so I'm shocked that a recall hasn't happened, especially given the danger that this issue poses to the car's occupants and those nearby.
