36 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2011

The speedometer on my 2005 Ford Mustang is stuck at 0.

37 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 01/24/2011

Speedometer and rpm would jump around then it just stopped working then my temp gauge went all the way past h and its stuck there.

38 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 01/19/2011

The speedometer began to malfunction on my Mustang last winter. Some days it would work fine, other days the needle would not move at all, and on other days it would read a speed that was below what I believe I was driving based on the other vehicles traveling around me and my experience driving my car. The speedometer was mostly fine over the summer, except on a couple of occasions where my speedometer was reading 10-15 mph under what I was driving (at least what I think I was driving based on other vehicles on the road). I am not sure what caused it, but I would stop on a long road trip and when I got in and restarted my car the speedometer would be reading incorrectly. Now that the weather has turned cold again for fall my speedometer and now my tachometer have quit working properly. They speedometer hardly ever works correctly now. Mostly, the speedometer needle doesnnot move and when it does it is showing a speed below what I am driving. As for the tachometer, it now longer works correctly as it is currently pointing at 6:00 oclock. The needle still moves, but it is not reading anything when its starting position is at 6:00 oclock.

39 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 01/15/2011

Ford 05 Mustang speedometer reads erratic. Reads 100 mph while driving at 40mph. Not consistant resets itself and comes problem comes back again. Researched on Mustang forms on web, several Mustang owners are reporting this. Started in Jan and ongoing.

40 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 11/28/2010

Speedometer sticks at zero or any other speed. Seems to be a random malfunction that may or may not be aggravated by weather conditions.

41 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 10/19/2010

I am having problems with my speedometer. The needle on the speedometer often gets stuck at a certain speed and will not move when I accelerate. It also starts at 60 and 80 mph as if it were 0. When this happens the needle goes the max distance as if I were driving 100+ mph.

42 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2010

Approximately a year ago, the speedometer and fuel gauges on my 2005 Ford Mustang started to malfunction. Since then, they have been giving me false readings. Examples include my fuel level will read at half a tank when I will actually be near empty, the more pressing issue however, is that my speedometer keeps giving me increadibly inaccurate readings, saying I'll be going 90 mph, when I'll really be going 20, or saying that I'm constantly going well over 150mph. . . Even though my car will be parked and turned off. I have read that many other 2005 Mustang owners are having this problem and being told they are having to pay anywhere from $500-600 for the repair when it is clearly Ford motor's fault. I cannot afford to pay this, but I cannot afford to continue having to guess my speed either, it is unsafe, and potentially causing me to break the law by speeding. A recall order needs to be issued to save me and my fellow Mustang owners from having to pay this excessie cost for a problem that is the maker's problem.

43 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 05/06/2010

When the brake pedal is pressed the engine revs up and the car accelerates before starting to slow down. This has occurred 4 times recently.

44 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 01/06/2010

The speedometer began to act erratically before ceasing to work altogether. I took the car to fairway Ford (placentia, CA) and reported the problem. The service writer dismissed me by saying the repair was too costly and that there was no known universal problem with the 2005 v6 Ford Mustang. I have a colleague with the same year and model who has the same problem.

45 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2010

My speedometer gauge is not working properly. When in high enough heat or low enough cold, the speedometer jumps from 10 to 40 or all the way to 120mph when the car is not even moving. This is dangerous! I may be on the highway thinking I'm going 50 when in reality I'm going slower or faster!.

46 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 07/26/2009

The contact owns a 2005 Ford Mustang. Whenever the contact attempts to accelerate, the vehicle will not accelerate to the desired speed. She noticed that the maintenance light would illuminate on the instrument panel when the failure occurred. The dealer stated that the throttle body needed to be replaced. The current and failure mileages were 20,000.

47 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 02/06/2009

When sitting still at stop lights my Mustang gt 2005 would lung forward while I still had mt foot on brake. Also after making a rolling stop I would press down on accelerator to go and I would not go I had to push it really hard to go. I almost got hit a couple of times when taking off across traffic lanes. Also the jumping forward while stopped at lights I almost hit cars in front of me I had to make sure and stay at least a car length away while stopped. I took it in to a Ford dealer and he said mymass air flow sensor was bad and my throttle body, that controls my throttle. Over 600. 00 dollars.

48 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 11/24/2008

Gauge cluster bad. Dont know how fast I am going. The rest of the gauges do not work so I dont know temp, voltage, gas, oil pressure or tech. They need a recall I did not give 30,000 for a car with problems. They want 700 to fix it but everyone with a 05-06 model has this problem.

49 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 07/26/2008

The issue with the vehicle is the instrument panel. At first the temperature gauge failed to work and the needle showed the temperature cold regardless of how long the car was running. Next the the fuel gauge failed, it would work erratically and show fuel for days or completely go in 360 rotations until it finally stopped working all together. And recently, the speedometer gave and remains stuck at 30 mphs even at idle. I've been able to live with the temperature gauge not working, and have been keeping track of mileage to determine my fuel remaining, however, I do not have an alternative to judge my speed. I will unfortunately have to replace this part.

50 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 01/18/2008

Speedometer sticks in my 2005 Ford Mustang. It seems to do this when it is cold out. It does this all the time. I bought the vehicle used.

51 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 11/27/2006

1st time it happened I was going about 45 mph and as I was accelerating to pass, the car just kept accelerating by it self, I then began to tap the gas pedal with my foot and as I got closer to the vehicle in front of me I had to brake and put the vehicle in neutral, while in neutral the vehicle idle returned to normal. I then went home and at this point believing it was possibly being caused by the floor mat I removed same. The 2nd time I had just made a right turn and gave it a little gas when the vehicle began to accelerate on its own, as I applied the brake the vehicle did a 180. While I holding the brake down the rear wheels began to spin, I was then able to put the vehicle into neutral and turn it off. When restarted it was back to normal. I then took it to a Ford dealer the next day, they however were unable to duplicate the problem during the two days they had it, thus no repairs were done , I was told to come back if it happens again, I was also told by the dealer that they contacted Ford and that they had no other complaints like this. I then contacted Ford motor CO. And was told there was nothing that they can do, and when asked if they could replace any parts that could cause this problem due to the extreme danger of this problem they refused. Note my vehicle only has 5700 miles on it.

52 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 05/14/2006

While backing into my garage, foot on brake, shifted into reverse, car took off full throttle. Hit wall of garage bounced off wall hit concrete retaining wall. Damage to passenger side back qtr panel, rear end and buckled the driver side. Damages est over $6000. 00. Took back to Ford and they said found nothing wrong with vehicle.

53 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2006

The contact owns a 2005 Ford Mustang. While driving 50 mph the accelerator pedal automatically depressed to the floorboard. The vehicle speed increased to approximately 80 mph. The contact depressed the brake three times before the vehicle stopped. The dealer stated that there were no recalls and would not be able to help. The manufacturer informed the contact to call back if the failure recurred. The current and failure mileage were 20,000.

54 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 02/04/2006

Corrosion on the hood, water leaking on pass. Side door, water leaking under the glove box, bissell and gauges not working, speeds up in excessive speed without giving gas,.

55 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 08/25/2005

I was fully stopped and was parking my car. Made a left turn and came to full stop. Trying to see that if I had enough space to clear parked car on left released brake pedal and car took off at the speeds of 3 to 5 mph hitting the parked trucked on the right.

56 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 08/09/2005

While backing car into garage vehicle was in reverse. Consumer had to put it in drive to move forward a bit with foot on the brake at the time. With slight brake pressure and ease the engine revved and lunged forward and struck the right side on driver's side mirror into the side the garage when the vehicle accelerated forward. Consumer was able to get control of vehicle by slamming on the brakes and putting ignition into park which stopped the acceleration. Had towed to a Ford dealer, who did a diagnostics check which reported no codes or failures. The car was in dealer 2 days with no repairs, no problems were found. Would not fix mirror because they could not duplicate a problem. This was the first and only incident.

57 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 07/06/2005

I purchased a 2005 Mustang on June 17, 2005. On July 6, 2005, while in traffic I noticed in stop and go traffic the car was accelerating when it should have been decelerating. I actually smelled rubber burning from the tires that were still moving although the break was pressed. When I began to accelerate, the car acted as if it was in neutral and would not move for approximately 4 to 5 seconds, but the engine reveled up high then the car jerked and accelerated on its own. On July 8, 2005 while stopping at a stop sign the car accelerated when it should have decelerated causing the tires to continue to turn, once again I smelled the rubber burning from the tire. On June 11, 2005, car accelerated when stopping. I took the car in to automax Ford, explained what was happening, took repair office attendant for a test drive, problem did not happen during the test drive. Attendant said if it happens again bring it in. On July 12, 2005, accelerated at stop sign, when tried to accelerate car would not move, then kicked into gear after 4 to 5 seconds accelerated high and sped off. July 13, 2005, accelerated when stoped, July 14, 2005, when stopped and started car would not move when accelerated. Called automax Ford spoke with same repair attendant, voiced my concern of being afraid to drive the car. I have kids and this car is not safe. Asked attendant for a loaner car becasue I have no other transportation and he said he will call me when a loaner car is available. Pleaded with him not to forget about me and how afraid I was to drive the car. I haven't made the first payment on this car and it is causing problems for me.
