1 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 03/15/2021

There's a chronic hesitation when you push the accelerator from a yield/merge type situation at low-speed. It's not every time but many times. Today I was going around a car that was sitting in the road with it's flashers on (ie double parked) and there was a car in the other lane on the 2-lane one-way street and I stepped on the peddle to accelerate slightly and it totally choked and I thought I was going to get hit in the rear and then it kicked in. I noted this way back when I bought it and at that time I thought it had something to do with the gearing which it still could. I told service about the issue and I even took them for a drive but of course that time it didn't happen. I've tried over years to id the problem more but while I can see somewhat of a pattern it's not guaranteed. Although one of the most likely situations is going up a hill, turning slightly to the right while slowing for a yield sign but not stopping and then pushing the accelerator only to get a hiccup or choke or whatever you want to call it. There are also issues filling the tank because of a lack of enough space for fuel to replace air causing the self-shutoff of the pump to kick-in not filling your tank. I raise this up as this could be some type of pressurization consistency. There's also the aggressive accelerator where you push it a tiny bit and it wants to take off enough to squeal the tires sometimes.

2 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 01/04/2020

I was driving around our local lake doing 25 mph. I had just come around a curve and was headed for another curve pretty quickly. All of the sudden the car started speeding up on its own. I took my foot off the gas pedal and I hit the brakes to try to slow down and nothing happened. The car continued to speed up on its own. My speed got up to about 40 mph when I came up on a curve. I slammed on the brakes again and tried to turn the wheel but I had no control over the car at this point. It continued to accelerate and I missed the corner and landed in a pond on the other side of the lake in about 3 1/2 feet of water. My car was then submerged up the top of the trunk in water.

3 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 11/22/2017

None.

4 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 08/02/2017

Both issues I have had with my car numerous times. The engine light has never come on and through research, I guess it has happened to many others. When in traffic moving slowly, warm temperature, my car stalls for no apparent reason. Today, it did while turning left at a corner. I almost got hit. I have to immediately shift to neutral and restart the car. It happens during rush hour so I end up making other drivers angry which is dangerous. The other ongoing issue I have is the car accelerating by itself. This has been happening for years and has got increasingly worse. I now have other witness' people who have driven the car and had it happen. At midas where I get my car repaired, they drove it and couldn't figure out the issue but definitely scared him. The mechanic thought it is computer related. They tried to find a fix online but couldn't. Someone hit my car and it was at a shop being repaired for 2 weeks. This is a very large operation. When I went to pick it up the mechanic there said that everyone, after driving my car once, refused to drive it again. It scared them to death. She explained how it kept accelerating and they didn't even have their foot on the gas, there were no car mats, no explanation. They will have their foot on the brake and it will start reving. When I'm stopped at lights it does. When I start the car, still in park, it starts. They stated they don't ever want to drive and/or park it again. They said it was very dangerous. I know Ford denies the issue but this is all over the internet. I don't know what to do. I am aware of the issue so I drive it like it's a stick shift in traffic and always have my foot ready for it to accelerate. I can't afford to buy a new call and would not feel comfortable selling it to someone. I do not want to put someone's life at risk. I know someone has to die for something to happen but this is a major problem.

5 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 06/02/2017

While backing out of a driveway with foot on the brake, the vehicle accelerated on its own and crashed into a dirt embankment. The gas pedal had not been touched since the vehicle had been started, but the vehicle accelerated forcefully enough to redline the engine and cause substantial body damage on impact. Taking the vehicle to a dealership for diagnostic found no obvious issues and no recorded error codes in the vehicle's computer.

6 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 04/10/2017

My car was purchased used in Feb after a few weeks the the throttle accelerated while going down the street I got it stopped and checked the mat but all looked good I assumed it was a fluke . So moved mat to trunk then today on the 4 lane in traffic it accelerated wide open it seemed . From take off at red light . I had brakes stomped to floor to no avail I had to try to get it off the road to keep from hitting cars so I swerved off at opening and hit curbs a went thru small right of way field to another road in oncoming traffic . Busted wheels and tires . . The car slid a few 100 feet sideways on flat tires before it stopped I was very lucky to survive.

12 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 03/06/2013

I have had small episodes before but didn't think much of it but yesterday, pulling out of my driveway, my car started to lunge with my foot on the brake. I tried to drive and it would speed up without me doing anything. It was almost like it was going to stall but it doesn't. No control to stop the car. I don't understand, with all these complaints why Ford hasn't done anything. It is not my floor mat. I have been searching and found so many people have spent $1000s of dollars and it doesn't get fixed. I read that one person replaced the coil and it worked but that is still over $1000 and its only one person. Also, who knows if it still works. Has anyone found a fix? how can Ford keep saying they have never heard of the problem when everyone has reported the problem? it is a very dangerous problem.

13 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 09/08/2012

Accelerated to pass vehicle traveling at 20mph. Car continued acceleration after foot removed from pedal. Speed reached 80mph. Car continued to rev when put into neutral. Car had traveled approx. 1. 5 miles before I turned off ignition. There was no place to pull over. There was no accident, but I went through an intersection. Car mat was properly on retaining hook. Towed car to Ford service center where the found nothing. At my request, they replaced the pedal assembly. Research on internet indicates that this not an uncommon event.

15 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 07/31/2011

I have reported this problem before but since then two other people who have driven my car have experienced it. I now warn anyone who has to drive my car that it drives by itself. I have received dirty looks from people, been yelled out, due to this problem. It accelerates on its own. I will be behind someone at a light, foot on brake and it will start revving. They think I am messing with them. I will be in neutral and it will drive faster. I will be in reverse slowly and it floors. I had to be taken to emergency by a neighbor. I warned her and when we were returning home, she pulled in my driveway and it just started to speed up fast. She nailed down the brake. It scared her to death. She thanked me for warning her because otherwise we would have crashed and been hurt. She won't ever drive my car again. I had my car in valet in las vegas at green valley ranch and the guy working was pulling the car around to me and it was revving really high and wanting to speed. He was apologizing profusely. He kept saying he was not showing off or playing around. He kept saying he was driving slow, please don't think he was acting crazy and he parks ferraris! I told him it was okay and that my car drives itself and that I knew he wasn't responsible. He said he will never park another one of these again. He needed his job. How many people have to have this problem before Ford will acknowledge there is one. Is this like the whole Toyota thing? if there is a large lawsuit can I be contacted? does someone have to die first before they do anything? I know there are many more complaints on this issue than on this site. I have seen them but people seem to think this is useless. Is that correct? I would love to know.

18 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 04/22/2007

I was driving my 2007 Ford Mustang gt down city streets when the accelerator locked up. The car continued to accelerate despite removing my foot from the gas pedal and applying the brakes did little to help slow the car. This caused me to run a 3-way intersection, which forced me to turn at dangerous rate of speed. I ended up running the car off the road, over a curb/sidewalk and into a small tree to stop it. The car sustained damage to both driver's side tires, the driver's front fender, bumper, driver's side front wheel and front suspension.
