Takata recall. Takata has declared bankruptcy (ch 11 case no. 17-11375 (bls)) and sent out postcards that states: "if your vehicle contains a defective or potentially defective airbag inflator and is under recall, contact your nearest dealership immediately to schedule a free repair. " this recall has been in effect for over a year, and multiple contacts with local dealerships have led no where as they state that the parts are not yet available.
A recall was issued on 05/28/2015 for defective airbags that could result in injury or death if activated. The replacement part is not yet available. I requested that Ford provide a loaner car and I was advised that "at this time, if a loaner vehicle is an option, this is something that you would have to discuss with the dealership. Ford is not offering loaner vehicles. The u. S. Government¿s national highway traffic safety administration says that it (NHTSA) will organize and prioritize the replacement of the defective airbag inflators to ensure that defective inflators are replaced with safe ones as quickly as possible, addressing the highest risks first. According to NHTSA administrator mark rosekind, you are encouraged to take your vehicle to the dealership for repair as soon as you are notified that parts are available, but you should continue to drive your vehicle until then. " so I am being told by the NHTSA that it is ok for my daughter to drive her vehicle and essentially risk her life or serious injury? I would just like confirmation of that since it has been over 4 months and no replacement part is yet available nor have I been given a time frame for when it will be available.
Takata inflators: basically my complaint is simply that Ford has been notified of this potentially deadly defect and has not repaired a single defective airbag since that time. I have repeatedly been attempting to get Ford to repair the defect since they sold me the car in August (when they promised they could fix it ASAP), but I'm being told that Ford doesn't even have any parts made to fix it yet. I would deeply appreciate it if you could look into what sort of timeline was promised by Ford and whether they are making every effort to get this potential deathly issue fixed as soon as possible. Thank you,.
Takata inflators; I was advised by Ford in writing on July 2015 and it stated I would be advised when to take it to a dealer to have it replaced. Nothing since then. I am concerned about my safely. How long do they have?.
