There have been 3 instances within the last year and a half where the rear window of my vehicle (Ford Mustang) and the rear window of family member Ford Mustang both have shattered during the extreme cold possibly due to the heating coils on the window over heating and burning. You can see a burn pattern in the window this is a safety issue due to the window shattering, it sounded as if someone shot my window out the first time it happened my [xxx] son was in the back of the vehicle and I was driving home. The second instance, same vehicle, started the car using the remote starter and it did the same thing. This has not been inspected by my insurance representative, it has been reported in both instances through my insurance and pictures have been taken. There have been no warning signs or even issues, there wiring look like it had been burned, melted information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
The driver and passengers door opens while driving.
• what failed & is it available for inspection? air-conditioning system failure. Loss of cabin cooling; dealer recommends compressor replacement (may include related components pending contamination check). Vehicle is at a Ford dealer now; no repairs performed yet. I requested the dealer retain failed parts for inspection. • how was safety put at risk? I live in las vegas; ambient temps ~112°f-120 degrees. This is my primary vehicle for transporting my [xxx] and for my work schedule. With no a/c, cabin temps become dangerously high within minutes, creating a heat-related illness risk (child and driver), impaired concentration, and fatigue during necessary trips. • has the problem been reproduced/confirmed? yes. An independent shop first advised compressor replacement. A Ford dealer subsequently confirmed loss of cooling and produced an a/c repair estimate after diagnosis. • inspected by manufacturer/police/insurance? inspected/diagnosed by an authorized Ford dealer. I opened a Ford customer relationship center case (xxx) and requested goodwill/after-warranty review. No police/insurance inspection. • warning lamps/messages/symptoms & onset? no warning lights. Symptoms began with weak/intermittent cooling in early August 2025 and progressed to no cold air. Mileage at failure ~87,279. A/c clutch cycles but cabin air remains hot. (owner context: original owner, [xxx] vehicle: 2016 Ford Mustang gt 5. 0. ) information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
Brake stop lamps remain on when I was driving, my car was having throttle/acceleration issues. When I had my foot on the gas, my car would accelerate and the rpms would rise, but then all of a sudden the acceleration stopped as if I was not applying throttle. I had to constantly take my foot off the gas and reengage for the car to drive home. When I parked my car, I noticed that my brake lights were all on even though my car was turned off & it is draining the battery out. I did some research & found out there is a recall for this issue (22s02) for the 2015 Ford model & dealership mentioned that recall doesn't apply to my vehicle. So I have to get the repair done by replacing the break light switch & break pedal bumper assembly with my local auto zone shop and pay from my pocket.
Weld between my clutch pedal and pedal assembly broke causing car to stall out in the road. This is a common issue with 2015-2017 manual Mustangs.
In March 2023 safety recall 22v082000 (Ford number 22s06) was performed to fix a rear view camera malfunction. During the March 2023 work, only the wiring harness was replaced. My belief was that the actual camera should have been replaced as well. Replacing the wiring harness in March 2023 fixed the issue for 13 months, and then the issue re-occurred. Dealership charged $230 diagnosis fee to tell me that the issue was the camera and now the replacement of the camera cost me the $230 diagnostic fee; the $75 part fee for the camera; and the labor to replace the camera - total bill out of pocket $530. I was informed after calling the main Ford customer service number that my 2016 Mustang was not part of the camera recall (only the wiring harness). Camera was only covered with 2015 Mustang. Seems odd to me that they make that distinction between model years but it is the same camera and obviously failed on my vehicle. As a major safety concern I believe Ford has failed to support their customers regarding this issue, and a second recall is warranted for the camera portion on 2016 models as well.
Ford issued a notice in 2018 TSB 18-2256 stating that they knew evaporator cores were leaking refrigerant into the cabin of the cars but did not issue a recall. I know this issue may not lead directly lead to an injury from an accident but the system failure does release toxic chemicals that should not be in the cabin of a vehicle. Because this is a health risk to the occupants of the affected vehicles there should be a recall. I have had my 2016 Ford Mustang in to the Ford mechanic no less than 4 times since I bought it in late 2016 and each time they came up with some new cause for my ac not working and each time the system failed again in less than 2 years. Each time the problem was a supposed refrigerant leak in some other component of the ac system. Now that they've run out of things to replace they have speculated that the most likely cause is a bad evaporator core. My suspicion is that the evaporator core has been the issue from the beginning. Since Ford didn't issue a recall I have been subjected to years of exposure to dangerous chemicals due to this issue. Please make for recall these vehicles for the safety of the occupants of the affected vehicles.
Backup camera fails after recall repair is performed.
Passenger door suddenly opens while driving even with doors locked . It’s all over in forums online. Ford won’t cover and sometimes won’t even fix the issue. Has happened on a few occasions already.
The rearview can result in a blank or have distorted image. As in NHTSA campaign number: 22v082000.
Back up camera recall was unresolved by previous owner. I’ve tried fixing the issue myself but cannot find it. The camera displays blue and black screens while in reverse.
Unknown.
The passenger door opens on it's own while in motion. I am afraid my passenger will fall out of the car. The dealership will do nothing since they can not spontaneously make it happen in the short ride they take it on. This happens on a weekly basis. Been happening now for at least 2 years.
While driving the doors will open to the secondary latch.
I recently purchased this Ford Mustang 2016 from a used car dealer and while driving this car couple of times we noticed that the car door got unlatched while driving, it doesn't happen all the time but it happened twice so I started researching and found out that there was a recall for this model but I could get the appointment immediately so by the time I was able to get the appointment the dealer says the recall is expired. I called the dealer in September of 2023 but I got the appointment on October 9th of 2023. Dealer says recall expired on September 30th 2023. I didn't know that recall's expire at certain period. Please help us so we can drive safe.
Under NHTSA recall 22v082. Ford refused to change the rear view camera despite it was under recall: the recall states to replace wiring harness and or camera replacement if necessary free of charge. My rear view camera is still distorted after they change the wiring harness and they told me to pay for the camera since its not covered under the recall. The letter that I got has the same recall number above but it didn't mention replacing the camera even though it has the same issue on the recall distort image when backing up. Nhtsa and consumer reports/ Ford websites they all mention to replace both if necessary. I attached a sample copy of the recall from Ford stating that. Even Ford specialist read that to me on the call when I asked her what did the recall number say about the fix. But the recall department says it s not covered. This is the detail for the recall below. Vehicles recalled: 2015-2017 Ford Mustang the problem: the wiring harness for the backup camera may be damaged or have an improperly soldered connection that can prevent an image from being displayed. The fix: dealerships will replace the backup camera and/or repair the decklid wiring harness at no charge. How to contact the manufacturer: Ford will contact owners by mail starting on March 7, 2022. Owners may also call Ford at 866-436-7332. Nhtsa campaign number: 22v082000. Ford’s number for this recall is 22s06.
Unknown nothing is wrong with vehicle. Back camera is working perfectly without blurry picture. This is a false statement.
Hvac a/c stopped working. It is a known issue with these model Mustangs.
Backup camera abruptly stopped working. It shows a hazy image with lines. There are recalls for 2016 Mustangs for that same issue, but none for my VIN.
Safety recall work for 22s06/ NHTSA 22v082 performed at dealer. Dealer confirmed that work was done correctly but the work as instructed from Ford did not correct the issue of rear view camera not working correctly. In fact it has made the condition worse. Recall issue as defined in 22s06 - the rear view camera could intermittently display a blank or distorted image05/19/.
Leaking evaporator core, seems to be very common with ‘15-‘17 Mustangs and Ford has done nothing about it.
Ford is aware of the ac evap core issue on the 2015-2017 Mustangs. This is a costly repair which comes out to $4,000 every year. This then causes failures on all other ac parts. There have been many complaints regarding this issue and no remedy has been issued in 8 years.
This specific car model is a 2016 shelby gt350 tech package that I owned for at least 7 months. In this time period I had only put 7k mikes on it before it blew up. After doing tons of research there is a tons of class action law suits against Ford for these cars. The incident that occurred was while driving the vehicle caught fire on the passenger side. Driving at the speed limit of 40 mph no warning lights, check engine lights or anything it just blew up. Up to this point all maitence was done properly and after doing some research it had the same issue report by multiple other shelby owners of this year. This vehicle is not safe for the roads and if not properly investigated, it can cause someone to lose their life. I incurred a bruised head, burns and loss of hair from this accident. I’ve contacted Ford in regards to this issue and yet to have anything done. This vehicle should not be sold to the public with these known issues. There was recall sent out to fix this issue but my specific VIN number was never contacted to fix it.
My 2016 Mustang gt has swollen lug nuts which must be replaced . This is a safety issue. Please advise as to whether tyhe company intends to correct this failure.
The ac evaporator core keeps going out and it’s now out of warranty. This has happened on thousands of Mustangs. There needs to be a recall to force Ford to fix this costly problem that in 100+ heat is a major safety concern.
Ac evaporator failure does not allow the defroster system to operate properly.
I’ve been trying for a year to get my camera repaired on my car and they always say the parts aren’t in . I’m started to get mad . Autonation Ford mobile alabama.
Backup camera doesn’t work after purchasing a new camera from dealership and new wires. Dealership said they didn’t know what was wrong after 3 months of working on car and new parts purchased.
The bolts on engine valve cover come loose and back out over time causing the engine to leak oil.
Ford motor company and the NHTSA issued a recall on 2/15/2022 on my 2016 Ford Mustang model vehicle a few months ago. It was "back over prevention: sensing system: camera". Recall no. 22v082000. Also, recall number: 22s06 decklid wiring universal camera fretting corrosion. Ford sent me a letter on 2/17/2022 alerting me of the recall indicating that a resolution to this issue would come about early in the second quarter of 2022. It feels like we're now approaching quarter 3 of the year and I have yet to be notified of repairs and my rear view camera is now completely not functioning at all. When I've searched recently for this recall, there is no longer any more information on the Ford website, nor the NHTSA website. I find that completely bizarre. I'd love to car the proper repairs immediately being that Ford guaranteed that it would be repaired accordingly to resolve the recall issue. Can you please look into why this recall has disappeared from your website, from Ford's database, and please help me get my car repaired>.
The vehicle is having the same issues as the 2015 and 2017 models. The passenger door will unlock and unlatch by itself while driving. Luckily the 4 times it has happened it has been while driving in a straight path and not going on a turn in which the door could fully open and cause an accident or someone or something to fall out of vehicle. In looking at the 2015/2017 recalls, Ford is replacing the "pawl spring tab" my vehicle thereby fails to comply with the requirements (fmvss) 206, door locks and door retention components. Unfortunately there are no recalls at the moment.
Consistent failure of Mustang air conditioning evaporator consistent with Ford tsb18-2256. Evaporator has failed 3 times, leading to at least one a/c compressor replacement. Failed evaporators are not available. Vehicle has less the 40k miles. It is unsafe for driver during extremely hot days. The problem has been reproduced and serviced by Ford dealerships. There were no major symptoms prior to failure. Just slowly degrading ac performance.
Doors open flying while vehicle is in motion.
Approximately 31,000 miles but warranty has expired due to lapse of time - he a/c has failed due to what the dealership called a known issue; however, even though mileage would still be under warranty because the car is greater than 3 years old they will not cover this costly repair.
While coming to a stop with the clutch pressed in the car will randomly turn off intermittently. This has now just began happening, although it has now happened to me twice in 1 months time. I have also been reading on s550 Mustang forums (years 2015 - present) that I am not the only one experiencing this. It seems like an electrical issue or something as there are people with completely stock cars that are affected by this, and also people with 2018+ newer Mustangs as well.
