36 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2011 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 07/09/2016

The car stopped taking gas on the highway. We had to stop, shut off the engine and restart. Within 2 weeks it happend several times, 1 week after the first time it happened 7 times in one hour. The Ford garage sent us home after the first time, we should watch. Then we should wait 4 weeks for a repair (missing parts). Finally they repaired it 1 day prior to our departure back home. It was the throttle body which had to be exchanged. But we didn't receive any support from Ford or from the dealer (galloway in ft. Myers). We paid over 1000$. The vehicle has only 42000 miles.

37 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2016 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 06/20/2016

Sitting at a stop light, computer system inside car shuts off but car is still running. Could not turn car off or open the doors. After hitting the unlock button several times I realized I was locked in the car. After about 10 seconds, the system rebooted itself and starting blinking error codes. 37 codes to be exact. This is a safety issue, if there would have been an accident the person inside the car could not get out.

38 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2014 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 08/12/2015

After making a right turn and attempting to accelerate into traffic, the car's advancetrac light flashed at about 40mph and the car began losing power and applying the brakes without reason. The advancetrac light continued to flash and the brakes and throttle continued to modulate as if the car were sliding on ice. This had happened before and once it has started will not stop until the car is stopped and placed into park. I drove approximately 1/2 mile with this issue occurring until I could safely pull over. This has now occurred 4 times in 23000 miles. Each time the same circumstances. A turn from a start and moderate acceleration and the issue begins between 30-40mph and lasts until the car is stopped and shifted to park.

40 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2012 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 07/02/2015

Brand new 2012 Mustang does not have a screen that prevents debris (leaves, bugs, etc) from going down the a/c intake. When the debris clogs up the a/c water drain it will back up and get into a junction box and corrode plugs that are directly connected to the abs, adv trac control etc,. This disables or tricks the abs syst a safety feature that controls your brakes. For example if you are going down the interstate at 75 mph and apply the brakes hard the abs syst is disabled or thinks one brake is locked up and the car jumps all over the place, lose control of the car and wreck or kill someone in the process. . . . . All because a major manufacture did not place simple door screen over the intake to keep debris out of the a/c intake and clog a hole. . . . .

42 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2006 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 03/03/2015

While traveling to work I unknowingly approached a patch of black ice at speed of 35mph. Upon realizing the road condition I lifted throttle to coast over the ice in an attempt to safely decelerate. The rear wheels locked causing an uncontrollable slide. The car rotated 90 degrees right before stopping in the middle of the road. I maneuvered the car to the side of the road to inspect for damage and find the cause. The right rear brake disc was glowing red. It had unknowingly been dragging. When I lifted throttle, the icy condition in conjunction with the dragging passenger rear brake caused the passenger rear tire to lock unexpectedly. The car has a positive engagement differential, this caused the opposite wheel to lock. This caused the car to be uncontrollable when throttle was not applied on icy patches of road, at any speed. I slowly navigated the car to a near by gas station and called off from work. After becoming aware of the condition, I was able to very slowly drive the car home. After some research, I found that this is a known issue to Ford motor company. The same condition that causes the problem described in Ford TSB 06-5-4 "park brake cables that freeze in cold weather due to water intrusion, and subsequently lead to dragging rear brakes" are also conditions that if unknowingly driven in, could cause a loss of control with fatal consequences to the driver, other drivers, and pedestrians.

43 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2012 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 01/15/2015

Upon take off from a red light the car jerked and seem to lose power and while accelerating only the rpm needle would go up but the car would not go. Took the car to the dealer and they said they could not fix it as I could not duplicate the problem. It is now 2 months later and the same issue occurred only this time the wrench light came on along with other dash indicator lights. I had the car towed to the dealer and now that it is no longer under warranty the service man says over the phone " I think I know what the problem is" really I have had my car in your dealership twice for the same issue and now it is there again. It happens to be the electronic throttle control in which Ford has been aware of for years and there were some recalls for this issue but I did not recieve one. I contacted Ford and spoke to to a rep. And she said they could not help with this issue.

44 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2011 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 09/18/2014

This began as of last Thursday. I have a 2011 Ford Mustang that I bought just last August. As I was driving on the freeway, a wrench light came on and my car seemed to have stalled on me. I thought maybe it was because it was pouring down raining so I was able to pull over into a parking lot since I was exiting the freeway. I turned off the car after it seemed to vibrate a bit, waited a few moments, turned it back on and it seemed fine. I was able to get home and park it only a few miles from where it happened. I had a doc appointment later that day and was able to get there. It was when I was on my way home that it happened again, on the freeway! it occurred again the next day (Friday) as I was leaving from work. I was on the freeway again in busy traffic and it happened twice except the second time, my engine light came on. My dad took it to a mechanic, it was hooked up to the computer and no code came back. Coolant was put in it and the engine light went off. The throttle body was cleaned. Everything was fine afterwards. Today, I'm driving to work and it goes into limp mode twice on the freeway while drivers are swerving around me! this is not safe at all! I have extended warranty on my car so this is going to have to be fixed ASAP. To anyone else having this problem, please be careful. Once it goes into limp mode, your speed will drastically decrease and you will not be able to accelerate. It is scary because not all parts of the freeway have a shoulder to pull over. . . This needs to be a recall before someone is seriously hurt. I've read up on other owner's issues and saw that there have been quite a few wrecks behind this.

45 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2012 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 09/16/2014

Driving on highway as I was exeting the car powersteering gave out and was left with no manubility. Was abel to power thru and get to the dealer right at the corner of the exit. Dealer said it did part was not covered under power train warranty because technically it does not make the car move. But with out it you can't move the car no possible steering. Dealer said they had the part in stock due to other 2012 Mustangs with same problem also found out that the focus and f150 have had the same problems and have been called back.

46 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2012 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 07/26/2014

The 2012 Mustang is equipped with an system called advanctrac. It is an electronic stability control system that works in coordination with the electronic assisted power steering. This morning while driving my car totally shut down nose dived and turned right back on. When it returned to power the advanctrac system had totally shut. The wheel was impossible to turn due to the electronic system shutting down. Had this been in a corner at speed on a highway I would have certainly left the road. Upon investigating my car I found a blown 100amp fuse by my battery. This is extremely dangerous. All anyone needs to do is hit the internet and see the number of people that have had this exact issue with this car. Be it from the fuse or something else this shutdown is frequent. In lieu of recent issues with gm I cannot believe that Ford is ignoring this. This can and could be a very dangerous situation for anyone. I contacted Ford and the dealer today and they blew me off so now I am contacting you. Hopefully I am not the only one that has had this issue.

47 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2011 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 05/27/2014

My advanced trac light was on-dashboard. I took it into dean sellers Ford (2600 w maple rd, troy, mich 48084) and was told that I needed to replace the epas because it failed. This car has only 25,400 miles on it and the cost was $1047. 00 plus labor of $505. 50. Total cost $1549,00 plus I had to pay $60,00 for a rental car. A car with this many miles on it, should not need to have this kind of repair (epas component) replaced. This was a defective component and I believe that Ford motor company should honor the replacement of this part, labor and rental car by issuing a credit this is a safety issue that should not be charged for.

48 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2011 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 03/21/2014

Traction control applying when pulling out in traffic . This was not under hard acceleration.

49 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2012 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 10/21/2013

I was driving my 2012 Ford Mustang v6 premium on the morning of 10\21\2013 when for the 4th time the advance traction control malfunctioned. When it malfunctioned the traction control light started to flash and I was unable to steer my car, blower on my air conditioner came on by its self full blast. While I was trying to get control of the vehicle a eighteen wheeler had to go off the interstate into the grass to keep from running my car over! this is not the first time this has happened it has been in the shop 3 other times starting at about 13000 miles. The problem is only getting worse!! I carried it to the shop when it first started having this problem they told me then that the control module was under national back order at it was going to be 6 to 8 weeks before they would have to part in for my car. The dealer was told by tech support to replace my 2012 part with a 2013 part??? they did that even though the part number was different. The next time I carried the car in the shop for the traction control they keep my car and did nothing. The third time I carried it to the shop for the same thing the tech connected to the car to the computer the alternator sent crazy waves to the electrical system and it messed up the battery they had to change the alternator and the battery. And even with everything they have done the car is still unsafe to drive and they tell me to take the car and when it happens again they will check it again. Now I am stuck with a car that is going to get someone hurt or worse someone killed!!! please help!!!.

50 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2012 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 05/17/2013

I turned right at traffic signal into a merge lane and accelerated to approximately 45 mph and merged left. At this point the car started jerking and making a loud noise. I placed my foot on the brake petal and could feel the brakes being activated, the car lost power and continued the jerking for approximately 200 yard. Other cars behind me began blowing their horns. I do believe some of the dash light came on but at the time I was concerned about staying on the road and was not looking too closely at the dash. The second incidence was on Jan. 16, 2014. All this was reported to the Ford dealer. They were unable to duplicate the incident and offered no help.

51 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2012 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 02/02/2013

It was a clear and warm day in southern California. Roads had no dirt, water, debris, etc. . I was driving about 35-40 and had just gone in to 4th gear. My 2012 v6 Mustang suddenly swerved to the left really hard forcing me in to the left lane and almost in to another vehicle. Then to the right which almost made me lose control. Felt like each tire was locking up independently. The traction control light was flashing. Felt like I got a flat and that my car was braking all by itself. I tried to throttle up a second later to get out of traffic and it had no response. I could not accelerate when pulling over I hit the brakes and they sounded like metal on metal, felt rough and like the abs was engaging. Once stopped I checked the tires and all were fine. I turned off the engine and waited a second. Turned it back on and all seems fine. . Read more...

52 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2009 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 07/01/2012

The complaint filed by phone on 9/15/21 id #10763956 included important facts that are not showing on your web page. The damage to the electronic module was caused by the water leak as referenced in Ford's TSB 08-26-7 and I also filed complaint with Ford consumer relation since they offered no relief. I was unaware of this issue and consequence but, I'm now finding it's nothing new for owners as well as the auto industry that this is a problem with Mustangs '05-'09 and the resulting damage to the generic electronic module happens often.

53 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2012 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 06/12/2012

The contact owns a 2012 Ford Mustang. The contact stated that while driving 50 mph, the traction control engaged independently. The contact stated that the front end of the vehicle would bounce erratically. The contact also stated that when the failure occurred, the vehicle would stop accelerating and independently brake. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection where they stated that they could not diagnose the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was 3,000.

54 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2012 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 05/15/2012

While driving on a dry, straight stretch of road at 50mph, the traction control/stability control system kicked in and started slowing the vehicle for no apparent reason. The system pulsed the brakes for about 1/4 mile, then the system returned to normal. Dash lights indicated traction control was kicking on. This has occurred on three separate occasions.

55 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2006 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 04/02/2012

Water leak issue coming from the windshield and cowl area leaking into the passenger side compartment shorting out the Smart junction box causing the gauges and all electrical to go haywire such as the headlight to go out while driving and the traction control to turn off as well as the windows and power locks to quit working and could cause an electrical fire inside the care if gone un noticed. I have the vehicle in the shop and this is going to cost me $600 or more due to Fords knowing of an issue they will not own up to fix to ensure safety.

56 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2011 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 02/21/2012

The "service autotrack" light came on as I was pulling out from a parking space in the morning, and the power to the back wheels was reduced. I took the vehicle to the dealership for service, and was informed of a manufacturer defect in the gpas system that could cause the steering to fail. The dealership kept the vehicle, as it is unsafe to drive due to this gpas system defect. Ford is not currently manufacturing replacement gpas systems, they have outsourced to an outside company (per the Ford customer care representative) and it is going to take six weeks to get the part.

57 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2012 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 02/19/2012

My nephew lost control of his six speed 2012 Mustang while driving on mountain road and was killed. He was downshifting into left corner or road then road turns right uphill (like an "s" shape). Perhaps the power train had an issue. ?.

58 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2006 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 09/15/2011

While operating the vehicle you will lose dash lights, headlights at times, bright lights no longer work, passengerside airbag disabled light comes on, fan motor for heat/air stops working, left rear tail light is not working even after replacement of bulbs, door locks and window switches fail to work, traction control off light comes on, feedback comes through radio speakers as very course static. Some of these may be corrected by heavy breaking, exceleration or by turning car off and back on. This is only temporary and may repeat itself every few seconds.

59 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2011 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 07/27/2011

Twice while accelerating to get up to highway speeds, on clear, flat, dry, and smooth pavement the advanctrac system activated for no reason. It starts by very aggressively pulsing the front right brake, followed by the rear left brake, then alternating brakes all the way around causing the car to swerve almost out of control, at higher speeds like 65-70 it probably would cause total loss of control. The advanctrac also cuts engine power along with the hard swerving makes it even more difficult to avoid a crash in multiple lane highway traffic. This last for about 15 seconds, but it is 15 seconds of out of control highway terror. After shutting off the car on the 2 occasions it then drives for a while like it never happened. When the Ford dealer cannot replicate the problem, and it does not record any error or diagnostic codes in the cars computer system. So Ford says there is nothing they can do to fix this safety problem. Talking with other Mustang owners I found out I am not the only one with this exact same problem with advanctrac, and one other that I know of said he also filled a complaint on here, he said it was complaint number - 10430166. He also said that Ford could not duplicate the problem and he also had no codes, so Ford would not fix his problem. Somehow we have to get to the bottom of this malfunction, it is supposed to be a safety system to help protect you from a crash, not a computer malfunction that causes a crash when the driver is doing nothing wrong on good road conditions. Please help!.

60 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2011 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 06/15/2011

Approx. 1-2 times a month, after leaving my house and driving a short, paved street going to the main road, my advancetrac light on the dash will start blinking, indicating the stability control system has been activated. Along with this the right front brake will be activated by the abs system. Typically will happen for 10-15 seconds then as I come to a stop to turn on to the main road it will stop. When I then turn on to the main road, as I am accelerating, this will happen again. Sometimes the brake pulsating the front right wheel is light and not too intrusive. Sometimes, if accelerating hard enough, the system will cut engine power, and alternately pulsate the front right and rear left brakes, nearly pulling me out of my lane, as I fight to drive straight. Again this lasts for about 10-15 seconds. After which car behaves perfectly fine, like it never happened. It never leaves any diagnostic codes in the computer system, or any trace that it ever happened, the Ford techs have never been able to replicate the problem, and I can not make it happen on command. Is totally random.

61 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2005 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 04/18/2011

My speedometer started acting erratic. It does not work at all now. The needle is stuck past 120 miles. Now my oil, water & battery gauges do not work. Asked my Ford technician during my regular oil change and checkup about the problem and they stated that is was a sign my alternator was going out. I had my alternator changed, but it did not correct the problem and after that is when my other gauges quit working. Since this is a problem with almost every one made during that year, you would believe that Ford would not want to tarnish their name by not issuing a recall. I have always owned a Ford, but my family has recently changed to different makes and I will definitely consider changing after this. This is a safety issue because if your gauges are not working, you could stall in traffic by running out of gas, overheating, engine lock up, etc. I need my car so I can make a living for my family and I do love my car, but I am considering getting rid of it because I am afraid something will happen while I am in traffic. This does not need to wait until people start having accidents or dying. With the economy the way it is today, most people cannot afford to get their car repaired or change cars so they are left with no choice but to take chances. If it was your family in the car and something happened in traffic, would a recall come any faster? I have noticed recalls in the news happening faster when someone dies, but I wonder how many complaints were received before that happened? I suppose it would happen faster if the news were to pick up the story of how many problems existed and were left unnoticed. Thanks for looking into the problem, but please don't wait too long.

62 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2010 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 02/01/2011

My entire rear differential had to be rebuild. My abs module had to be replaced as soon as the car went out of warranty. At least one wheel bearing had to be replaced. Poor tire wear was a result of the rear differential failing and poor quality tires. All four tires were replaced at 35,000 miles.
