The contact owns a 2019 Ford Mustang. The contact stated upon servicing the vehicle, the dealer informed her that the outer shell of the lug nuts were distorted, hindering the replacement of tires. The dealer replaced all 16 lug nuts. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 54,136.

My wheel lug nuts are damaged and distorted with normal removal and replacement during tire changes. The standard socket no longer fits the nuts unless the socket is hammered onto the nuts.

Swollen lug nuts. Unable to have regularly scheduled rotation as they could not be removed. Was advised to purchased new lug nuts.
Lugs: nuts fell off. Consumer was told by dealer that he should retort lugs: nuts after so many miles. But nothing was mentioned in the driver's manual. Consumer stated that he found two other lug nuts found loose.
