I took my 2016 Ford Mustang to a local discount tire store to replace my front passenger seat tire. A few minutes after my car was pulled into the work bay I was called to the front desk. The store supervisor advised me at that time that his technicians noted that my lug nuts were swelling and would soon either burst causing my tire to potentially become dislodged or at the very least many garages would not be able to remove the lug nuts and ultimately the tire. He added that this was a common and known issue of Ford and there was even a potential class action suit regarding the issue. Of course the supervisor's "fix" was to sell me a kit of replacement lug nuts which I purchased at the cost of $95 dollars. I feel this is very dangerous and Ford should be responsible to reimburse me for the cost to replace inferior parts.

Up -date to my previous complaint # 11609504. Ford dealer still had two-piece lock nut for sale at parts counter. Did not mention the recall for Fords two- piece nuts or mention the problem with this nut.

All wheel nuts had to be replaced when new tires were replaced cost for the nuts $226. No inspected or change the nuts that were swollen. By Ford. Did the recall no06tice end last year in August.
My daughter was driving her 2022 Mustang gt when the rim snapped, vehicle went into a truck, started flipping on the highway, then burst into flames. My daughter had approximately 3 minutes before it was engulfed. The manufacturer, wheel pros, stated that the insurance company allowed us $400 for the rim, so we should be good. This looks like a defective rim. It put my daughter’s life in danger. In June 2023, there was another complaint about rims cracking from this same company. My daughters rim basically had the center of the rim still attached to the car with all lug nuts in place. The center snapped away from the barrel and tire, causing the tire to come off the car.

After owning the car for 3 years and putting a little under 50k miles on the vehicle, I have had to change my tires twice now because the inner tread would go bald after 20k miles or so. I had to alignment checked and the dealership said it was within spec. I have kept up with the tire rotations as well and the suspension and shocks are working as well. I believe the problem is that the camber/toe in and toe out specs are too wide that it allows for the tires to wear unevenly.

During routine service my mechanic repoted “3x lugnuts swollen past 22mm”.
I was driving down the road in my 2018 Mustang ecoboost. When all of the sudden slowing down it locked the rear wheels up. I slid off the road and fortunately I didn’t hit anything but it did pop my side skirt off in the rear of the car. Thankfully the person behind me reacted in quick enough time to get around me considering the rainy weather conditions. This is very dangerous. It’s throwing a code for a solenoid b. Had traction control lights. And says see manual. But they all illuminated after the problem first happened. The car has been parked for a while. However someone suggested I try this website. There were no pre warnings to what was going on. The car drove fine up until the point of it just randomly deciding to lock the rear wheels up. I still owe money on the car and have been paying for it for almost two years since it happened. The car has around 100k miles. I saw online where my car is not the only case. One of the cases the car almost got hit by a train. Yikes.

It stolen.
Mike rickenback Ford dealership service shop declined me a tire rotation because they assessed my oem lug nuts to be swollen and in need of replacement. Unbeknownst to me this is a well documented safety hazard.

I recently took my vehicle to the local Ford dealer to get the oil changed and tires rotated. The service technician told me that they could not do the tire rotation without replacing my lug nuts at a cost of $100 because the lug nuts were swollen. I told her I wasn't interested thinking this was some type of bogus sales ploy. I mean how can lug nuts swell? she then threatened, " well you know if you have a flat you'll be stuck on the side of the road unable to change the tire!" this made me angry because I thought it was a bunch of baloney. When I got home I actually removed the lug wrench from my trunk and tried to remove the lug nuts only to find that she was telling the truth. I could not get the lug wrench on the nuts without driving it on with a hammer. Then the nut was stuck in the wrench which had to be clamped in a vise and the nut driven out with a punch. This is how I replaced all my lug nuts. I bought a set from advance auto parts for $41. However, I still have to question why this problem which can leave people stranded on the side of the road and which the Ford dealerships are obviously aware of has not resulted in a recall?.
"swollen lug nuts" car was in for service and state inspection including tire rotation. Was informed that the car had "swollen lug nuts". Soft outer metal of lug nuts has deformed due to use of impact wrenches used in tire rotation over the life of the car. Continued swelling of the lug nuts will make it impossible to remove wheels with the manufacturer supplied tire iron.
All the lug nuts on my vehicle needed to be replaced due to swelling of the lug nut. The lug nuts were almost impossible to remove. If I would have had a flat tire the tire could not have been removed from the side of the road which is a safety hazard. I had the lug nuts replaced at friendly Ford in las vegas, nv. I was told by the dealership this is a normal problem with the lug nuts Ford is using now. I live in the desert so I am confused how moisture can cause lug nuts to swell when there is very little humidity. This is a known problem for many Ford vehicles why are they allowed to put defective parts on vehicles?.

Lug nuts on car have swollen up and tire repair shop said they need to be replaced because if we are to get a flat we wont be able to change tire.
I stopped by belle tire, 11361 e washington st, indianapolis, in 46229 to get my right rear tire leak repaired on my 2016 Mustang, and they informed me after struggling to remove the oem lug nuts, that there have been several complaints and lawsuits with these type of lug nuts, due to the fact that the cap on these nuts swell or become distorted, which makes it impossible to remove with standard lug nut wrench. They recommended that I replace all lug nuts with the solid, one piece type nut, part number dorman lug nut 611-007 @ $11 each, for a total of $235. 40. I feel after many complaints with these oem lug nuts, Ford should be required to replace at no cost to the customer, or reimburse customers who have already replaced for safety reasons.
Accident after side swiping cattle guard, flew off the road at 70mph, landing roughly, and bouncing off desert terrain, trying to control crash outcome, realign no brakes, and no way to slow down vehicle, except no acceleration, and turned away from homes and power poles, to eventually slam into a a higher terrain, until complete stop. My repaired airbags didn't deploy, and at that speed, my passenger side wheels were shattered, tires flat, face hit the steering wheel and windshield, my knees hit dashboard, arms bounced off off everything the seat belt couldn't protect me from. Because of airbag failure to deploy, I ended up with 2 fractures, t9 and l1, 6 lose teeth making front teeth unable to use, and 2 cervical discs pushing into spinal column. I have medicaid for insurance, and they will not do the surgery on my neck, so I have permanent nerve damage to my arms and hands, and the rest of my life to avoid any falls, or sudden injury to these areas so I can exist as a cripple, all because the safety equipment mandated by you, failed or was non existent. I had basic motor insurance coverage and no medical for me. What do you propose I do, with what's left of my car and my body parts, to continue existing in this life? why have safety regulations when the equipment is knowingly defective, and costly, with no recourse in case something happens, before you as owner, are aware of it. I'm so pissed off to discover I own a vehicle, or paid for vehicle, that tried to kill me.

Brought in for service. Ford found swollen distorted lug bolts. Could not rotate tires. Potential safety issue. All need to be replaced.
The aluminum top part of my wheel lug nuts rounded off and had to be replaced.
As I was driving approximately 65mph/hour I hear a slight popping noise come from the from passenger tire and then followed the tires pressure dash light illuminated. I pulled off the road at my first opportunity. My ture had gone completely flat with out hitting any bumps or pot holes. I put the spare on and returned home. My boyfriend inspected the tire using soapy water and realized the air was escaping from the rim wall (str p245/40 r20) and not the tire itself. Upon further inspection we realized many stress factures on the rim on all four tires not just the one that lost all the air originally. I replaced my tires pirelli all season plus and scorpion verde tires with my stock tires. I researched the tires for a recall and noticed a recall on other tires that were the same make and model just different sizes had the same issue, a failed rim wall causing it to break off causing accidents, that my aftermarket tires were having. My tires are experiencing the same issue as the recalled pirellis so therefore I have not been using my tires for fear the other 3 tires will also worsen and cause an accident. Str p245/75 r 20 and str p245/40/ r20 all season plus and scorpion verde models also the seat belt light never turns off even when the seat belts are properly engaged which causes a beeping while driving.

This vehicle has been in an accident with damage exceeded $5000. 00 (I have a Ford dealerships estimate to prove damage on the vehicle has not been eepaired nor reported) again, substantial, front drivers side, hood, wheel, breakline, door and underbody damage occurred to this vehicle. It was never reported to carfax nor any online reporting agency. This vehicle is being resold with a 'clean' carfax because damage has never been reported.
~tl-the contact owns a 2001 Ford Mustang equipped with hankook tires, tire line: ventus v2 evo 2, tire size: 275/35/18r, dot number: 5mrkybh. The contact stated the tires were purchased in 03/20 and installed on 04/20 and the tires were already bald after only 3,000 miles. The manufacturer claimed the issue was with the vehicle not the tires and that there's a defect with the tires wearing after only 3,000 miles. The have not been replaced yet. Tf.

Bought a vehicle from oxmoor Ford in louisville kentucky on August 26, 2020. Notice after driving it felt like alignment was off. On September 10, 2020 went to local dealership and they found three bad tires that had the thread/ wires showing on the inside of the three tires. That was only 15 days of having the vehicle. I talked to the gm of the dealership I got the vehicle and he stated he knew the tires were not that good however they were road safety. Whomever signed off on inspection for vehicle obviously did not tell the truth or there was not an inspection done. Gm blamed myself for not finding the problem when I bought the vehicle.

2018 Mustang gt 6 speed performance pack, tires rubbing on inner wheel wells causing wires to show on inside of tire, few months ago took car it to dealership said nothing was wrong but there is holes rubbed into my wheel wells, also had a clutch issue and noise at same time and they said nothing was wrong again, took car back and a week ago had a clutch and trans problem come about, have to forcefully push shifter into a gear for it to go in, with the clutch fully pressed I can put the car in gear and it will attempt to take off, without releasing the clutch, I cannot get the car into 6th 5th, 2nd and reverse. 1st,3rd,4th gears are hard to get in but will go forcefully. With car off I cannot go in many of the gears either. When this last part happend I was driving and went to go into 3rd and it wouldn't go in so I decided to try 4th and it had the same problem as before, car seem to shake while driving also.
I noticed premature inner tire wear on the front left tire. I took the vehicle to my local Ford dealership for repairs. They verified the alignment was incorrect on my vehicle and caused the tire damage but would not warranty components due to "aftermarket wheels and tires" installed on the rear of my vehicle. I contacted Ford customer relationship center. Customer relations contacted the dealership and the dealership stated the alignment was correct (despite a print out given to me showing improper alignment). Customer relations suggested I take the vehicle to another dealer and install my factory wheels and tires on the vehicle. I did as suggested. The second dealer corrected my alignment issue and submitted a claim for tire replacement. Ford denied the warranty. I contacted the customer relationship center and they stated "most commonly this is due to aftermarket parts being installed". I reiterated that there was "aftermarket wheels and tires" installed on the rear of the vehicle but the factory parts were re-installed due to their suggestions. My car currently has 18,557 miles on it after visiting 2 dealerships with no prevail and I am expected to pay out of pocket to replace tires that were damaged at no fault of my own while Ford hides behind modified parts that are in no way related to incorrect front alignment.

The Mustang has the ecoboost performance package with 19" ebony black painted wheels. The car has only 30,000 miles on it despite being 5 years old the lug nuts on each wheel had to be replaced because the nuts were swelling and a standard size wrench could not remove them. This problem was detected at 25,000 miles and verified by the Ford dealer recently. Today, the Ford dealer replaced the lug nuts, which cost $13. 03 apiece plus installation and tax for a total of $316. 91. However, the real problem is the potential that a wheel could not be removed in case of a flat tire out on a highway. In addition, I can't believe that lug nuts whose threads were not stripped need replacement which appears to be at 30,000 mile intervals. I have cars that have over 100,000 miles on them and never have lug nuts needed to be replaced. There is a safety issue here because being able to change a tire when necessary should not require a major operation.
2019 Ford Mustang gt 5. 0l with 10 speed automatic transmission milage: 14,000 -engine stalls when car comes to a stop (happened more than 10 times). -harsh transmission shifting from 4th to 5th. -dipping and irritating rpm when idle. -exhaust sound valve squeaking noise (like the sound when the metal has corrosion squeaking sound) while the valve changes from quite to normal or from normal to track. -wheel wining noise shows on or above 40mph (like wheel hub bearing humming sound). -dash and rear driver side rattling noises. -front end bushings squeaking noises (especially can be heard while passing on car parking bumps).
Electric power streering wheel failure under cold weather condition.
Had a flat tire and did not have a spare. So, I had the car towed to a service station to have the tire repaired. Then I bought a Ford spare tire kit for my 2015 Mustang and discovered the lug wrench did not fit the lugs on the car. The dealer stated the lugs on the car had to be replaced and I was responsible for the cost ($127. 20). Since this is a latent defect, query why Ford is not responsible for replacing the lugs.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford Mustang gt equipped with michelin tires, tire line:pilot sport 4s, tire size:255/40/r19 and dot number is unknown. The contact stated that on one occasion while driving at approximately 10 mph, both the front and rear passenger tires began to vibrate and both tires imploded. The vehicle was taken to a Ford dealership (gilbert Ford 3175 u. S. Hwy, us-441, okeechobee, FL 34974 (863) 588-7825). The dealership diagnosed the tires as being slashed and they were ultimately replaced. A police report was filed, case number 19s02663. On another occasion, the same front passenger tire blew out while traveling at approximately 20 mph. The vehicle was taken to a Ford dealership( gilbert Ford 3175 u. S. Hwy, us-441, okeechobee, FL 34974 (863) 588-7825. The dealership diagnosed the tire as having a nail inside as well as wires coming from the tread of the tire. The tires were not replaced. The manufacturer was contacted and instructed the contact to take the vehicle to the dealership. The vehicle mileage is approximately 15,000 and the tire failure milage is unknown. Jo.
Wheel lugs DE-laminate requiring replacements to be purchased. Factory provides lug wrench will not fit the DE-laminated lugs making a tire removal impossible on the road to change a flat tire.
Wheel lug nuts are defective - have swollen and are stripped - unable to use torque wrench to tighten wheels properly. Ford does not want to warrant lug nuts even though the car is only 3 years old, 29k miles and 100% maintained by the Ford dealer.
I am reporting shimmy in front due to struts. I researched and noticed the struts are being recalled and replaced for this model of Ford Mustang. I would like to have these front struts replaced under the NHTSA recal, along with a passenger rear tire monitor. I can not get the tire monitor light to go off. My cell number is (xxxxx). Also the passenger air bag is not operative parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
I have had two collision in my vehicle and the air bags did not deploy either time. Both were at a rate of speed approximately 50 mph. One was a rear end collision that was on the drivers side rear. The other was to the driver side wheel and light area. The rear collision I was in motion about 10 mph and was struck at approx. 50 mph. The frontal collision I was traveling about 40 mph and was struck moving at approx. 40-50 mph. This complaint is in regards to the frontal collision. I have photos but cannot get them to upload but provide them for further investigation.
Bought a 2015 Mustang gt Feb 28 at 9pm with 19200 miles on it. March 1 I noticed the car had 3 different tires brands on it. The car pulls bad to the left under acceleration, when you let off the gas it pulls right. Laurel Ford did a 4 wheel alignment on the car and it still pulls. Now they say it is the struts and the orded 2 new ones for the frount. I think it is the tires not the struts but they won't replace the tires because they would haft to pay for them. They only want to replace parts that warranty will pay for. They said no way they would pay for 4 new tires. This is a safety issue ⚠️ very dangerous driving the car because it is a manuel transmisaion and every time you accelerate the car pulls left holding the wheel straight does not stop it, it still pulls left, then right when you take your foot off the gas. What Ford dealer would sell a car with 19,200 miles on it with 3 mis mached tires on it. Also the tires have different load and speed rateings on each one, like 101y, and 105y, and 100 y. I dont know wats wrong, I think laurel Ford is stalling, why???? I have had the car for 15 days now still not fixed. I guess some one will look into this after some bodys gets killed like me and what ever car I hit head on at 70 mph.
