4 Tank Filler Pipe And Cap problem

Failure Date: 05/15/2004

On my 1996 Ford Ranger I have a gas leak when I fill the tank all the way up. It leaks from the top of the gas tank, down the sides, and on to the ground. It appears that the hose going into the gas tank has failed. Whan concerns me are two things: first, if it gets on some hot metal. . . . . I will be toast. Next, my auto mechanics told me he saw the same problem on a 1999 or 2000 Ford Ranger. So, I am wondering if this is bigger problem than just my truck.
