Three problems related to tire blowout have been reported for the 1996 Ford Ranger. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
I was returning from the state fair in milwaukee WI with my son. While traveling north thur fond du lac, WI the rear driver side tire blew out. Was able to pull over to the side of road. Only the side walls of the tire remained. I had checked all four tires before leaving the camp grounds in the half hour before the tire failed. As a otr truck driver I've expernced serveral type's of tire failure, recaps, hot/cold weather, etc. After veiwing the tire, I was alarmed because the trend was totaly gone. All that remained was two sidewalls and a dented rim. (dot number: dont have tiresize: p225/70r14).
Dot # reported above is for another tire in the original equipment set of 5, not the failed tire. While traveling 55 mph on freeway, tire blew out for no apparent reason. I was able to steer safely off the highway on an exit ramp and change the tire. When I took the tire to a dealer (big o tires), the mechanic could give me no explanation for the blow out. All remaining tires were properly inflated and in acceptable condition. ( dot number: vnfc1pr126 tire size: p225/70r14 ).
Right front tire blew out causing driver to loose control and hit a light pole. (cornell - size p237-7s-r1s).
