Speed Control Linkage problems of the 1998 Ford Ranger

Four problems related to speed control linkage have been reported for the 1998 Ford Ranger. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Speed Control Linkage problem

Failure Date: 05/15/1999

The throttle box linkage sticks and makes the accelerator difficult to depress. . . Especially when starting out. The throttle box has been replaced three times and is starting to stick again.

2 Speed Control Linkage problem

Failure Date: 04/15/1999

Consumer received a recall notice concerning cruise control cable. Upon receiving the notice, he contacted dealer and was informed that the parts were not available. Recall 99v062. 001.

3 Speed Control Linkage problem

Failure Date: 01/03/1999

While driving vehicle suddenly and unexpectedly accelerated to 100mph, resulting in a collision. Dealer and manufacturer have been notified.

4 Speed Control Linkage problem

Consumer received recall letter 99v062001, speed control cable. Contacted dealer, dealer indicated no no parts available to correct the problem. Please give any further details.
