1999 Ford Ranger XLT 4x4 fuel filler tube to the gas tank made of material that corrodes.
When filling the gas tank, fuel spilled out onto ground. At the time, I was not aware of this site to post complaint.
When the vehicle was refueled, fuel spilled out onto the ground. Rusted fuel neck assembly and fuel pump replaced.
Vehicle in garage. Fire dept had arrived to put out flames after smoke was noticed from garage. Fire department & insurance company inspector could not determine cause of fire. A neighbor heard an explosion. The fuel tank was suspected as cause of fire. Vehicle was totaled by insurance company. Pictures available.
3 times in shop [33+ days in shop, still in shop] gas tank assembly replaced once.
