I purchased a new 2001 Ford range in Nov of that year. The truck came with a hard fiberglass bed cover. It has a locking system and a safety latch at the inside of the top. This safety latch failed when I was in the bed and the top shut down. I have contacted Ford about the problem. They have said it is not their responsibility to fix this as they claim it is an aftermarket accessory. The truck was brought into the dealer before the original warranty was up. The top is listed in the owners manual and it was part of the truck at the time of purchase. If my kid's had been locked inside the situation could have been worse.
