There is a recall that has went in to effect on 12/13/2017 from the Ford motor company (#17s42) stating manufacturer safety recall issued for airbag inflator replacement. But, the last 2 months I've contacted my local Ford dealerships numerous times about a remedy and when the part will be in to replace and repair this I have been told they are uncertain when they will be available. This made me wonder how something this serious of a safety risk and description of the recall stating "if an inflator explodes metal fragments could strike the driver or other occupants causing serious injury or death. This free repair is a final repair for both the driver and passenger frontal airbags on your vehicle. Important, the airbag inflators in your vehicle must be replaced even if they were previously replaced under any other recall. " this gives me a great deal of concern as this is my transportation commuting to work. My vehicle is a 2004 Ford Ranger. I just contacted Ford manufacturer over the phone and was told to call local dealerships and was not given an answer. What is my next step? I just hope I am not involved in an accident where my life or the life of my girlfriend and unborn child are at risk.
Airbag inflators - January 2018 I received in the mail safety recall notice 17s42/NHTSA recall 17v787 and 17v788. I called chapman Ford located at 3951 columbia avenue, columbia, PA in January and they told me they do not have the parts. They told me to call in 30 days. I called again in February and they told me to call them in 30 days again. I called them again on March 19, 2018 and they do not have the parts and have no idea when they will be getting them in. I called chapman Ford located at 1485 manheim pike, lancaster, PA left several messages and they never returned my call. In the meantime, I am driving an unsafe vehicle. It appears the dealerships are clueless on the safety recall notice and do not care about their customer's safety. It has been three months and I am not getting any answers on when my vehicle will be repaired. Thank you for your assistance. Sincerely, patricia m. Wallace.
Takata inflators my local dealer tells me Ford is very slow getting parts to them. The service person seemed frustrated. Apparently this is an ongoing problem but yet Ford keeps sending me reminders for the repair.
Takata recall I just received my second recall notice from Ford about the takata recall. The first one arrived over a year ago. I made an appointment to have the repair made. When I arrived at the dealer I was then told that there were parts for only half of the inflators on the truck. They would make the repair on the passenger side that they had the parts for and I would have to bring the truck back when I received notice that the parts were available. I just received a second notice saying that both inflators needed to be replaced and the parts were available. I called the dealer the next business day to schedule an appointment to only be told the parts were on back order and call back in a couple of weeks.
"takata recall" I have contacted Ford and local dealers, but no one has an answer on the replacement of my defective airbag inflators. Can you help me? thanks! I want them fixed before they injure me or my wife.
Takata inflators, drivers side was replaced 3/7/16 and at that time dealer ordered passenger side parts which still have not arrived. Is their a recall for passenger side and if so when should I expect to have the parts at the dealership ( shaker Ford, watertown,CT).

I was at a traffic light stopped behind one car. He started off but realized that it was a green turn signal. So he backed out of the intersection and bumped my truck. There was no damage to either vehicle. He was going about 2mph when he impacted my truck. Both airbags in my truck deployed. There was no one in the passenger seat and the driver bag hit me in the face breaking my crown. Then it just deflated. I have talked to Ford about the recall. They say they are only replacing inflators. I don't need an inflator because mine already improperly inflated! because the inflator was defective, now I have no airbags! because I could not get the inflator replaced, I have to pay to have new airbags installed. I do not think that is right. If the inflator had worked properly, the airbags would have never deployed and hit me in the face!.
