The check engine light illuminated after leaving residence and traveling less than 5 miles. Had the vehicle check by a certified ase mechanic, he stated that my vehicle had a misfire code (po300), if it was a po301 or po302 or etc, it would indicate a specific coil was misfiring, but the po300 is a general misfire code. Vehicle is jerking, pulling, bogging down as if doesn't want to go forward or is losing power, mechanic changed the spark pulls the first time thinking it was time due to mileage of the vehicle, and cleared the code. One week later check engine light is back on with the same po300 code, he says we can try changing the coils next to see if this fixes the problem. I called my local Ford dealer, who says the will charge me $167 dollars to diagnose the problem, and tell me whats wrong. After I have already told them what the problem is and what the code is for the problem. Which is the same code I got from my $40 code reader is the same code he got from his $1500 code reader, so what can the tell me for $ 167 that I dont already know and have told them, and from further research on recalls for this vehicle, I have found that they already know this problem exist. Ford should be responsible for repairing this know issue of engine misfires before someone dies from this engine shutting down while driving and causing a fatality on the highway.
My 2019 Ford Ranger (lariat) has as what I've discovered is a habitual problem that many other Ford Ranger owners are experiencing. While driving at lower speeds (28-40 mph) the trucks transmission will begin to knock and buck very hard. I've noticed, according to the gear indicator, that it is in either 7th or 8th gear. The problem has gotten consistently worse and I'm in fear of greater damage to the mechanics, or worse, a potential accident if it completely gives out while driving. - the truck has not had any modifications what-so-ever that would have in any way affected the transmission.
Manufacture defected valve cover allows water to gather and leak into coils causing vehicle to shut down at highway speeds ! this is extremely dangerous and Ford admitted knowing of the issue and even has an active internal fix but demands payment to fix issue. My service advisor said Ford has known of this issue but would only repair if the customer pays for it. Please take this matter under heavy consideration as I nearly lost my life on the ca168 freeway . I have personally read over 7300 online complaints of similar findings from not only Ford Ranger owners , but mechanics from private shops to Ford certified repair shops. Please , please, please contact Ford customer care, they will tell you there is a know issue that they agree poses a threat to drivers . Thank you very much .
I lose power in my vehicle and the code is saying something about my exhaust not showing the correct air pressure. This is causing my truck to shake and gas and brake pedal to stiffen while driving.
When turning on to another road and accelerating, engine will suddenly loose all power. Releasing accelerator will regain some power until vehicle speed increases. Throttle control is often erratic and transmission shifting is inconsistent resulting in hard clunks during shift. Pulling into traffic with a sudden loss of power leaves me vulnerable to a collision.
The contact owns 2019 Ford Ranger. The contact stated while driving from a complete stop and up to 45 mph, the vehicle jerked, lunged, and shuddered while the transmission was shifting gear. Additionally, the contact stated that the transmission was slipping while in low gear and in higher gears. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the transmission had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 78,000. The VIN was not available.
The vehicle skips gears when upshifting and does not shift through all the gears when in cruise mode. The truck will buck and bang jolting the passengers and appear to stall out without any warning. This has happened on numerous occasions and has even stalled out in the middle of a very busy intersection almost causing a collision by the truck not having enough power to coast through the intersection. Based on conversations with the dealership, this is not an isolated issue with our vehicle.
Transmission is in signs of failure. Ford is offering updates to the computer to attempt to remedy the issue. Very similar behavior across all models with this family of 10 speed transmissions. Discouraging for owners just coming out of warranty. Tsbs show Ford knows of these issues. No warning lights, violent shifting and worse yet when the vehicle is cold the shift will be missed and make it extremely dangerous when merging into traffic. I feel like I am about to be rear ended every day leaving work. There is no way these transmissions are 'okay' or that this is considered the 'new-norm' that the Ford dealer is pushing. I have some dash cam footage that I shared with Ford (and on my personal youtube account).
Truck has noticeable hard shifts into reverse and drive. Sometimes searching for gear while accelerating.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford Ranger. The contact stated while driving from a complete stop, the vehicle was jerking, and the transmission was slipping and shifting hard. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the failure mostly occurred while driving from 0-20 mph. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed, and the dealer determined that the transmission needed to be replaced. The dealer informed the contact the manufacturer was contacted and offered to partially cover the cost of the repair. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 67,800.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford Ranger. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 35 mph, the vehicle lunged forward while shifting gears. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact called the local dealer, who scheduled an appointment. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 26,800.
My 2019 Ford Ranger for around 9 months occasionally has a significant loss of power and acceleration from 2nd to 3rd gear. It has become dangerous to drive due to the aforementioned. My vehicle has 54019 and is under the factory power train warranty still. The dealership told me that water had entered the egr and damaged the sensor. They already knew by their diagnostics test it wasn’t a negligence based issue. The dealership told me at least 5 other Ford Rangers have come in with the same problem and Ford will not recall it even tho they know it’s an issue. I called Ford customer satisfaction. They stated although they say powertrain and related parts in their factory warranty and this is affecting the transmission they could not get authorization to fix the known issue. Please investigate this before people get killed.
I had expressed transmission issues with the service center for over a year. Paid for transmission servicing, reprogramming, and kept all maintenance up to date. All regular maintenance has been performed, and the truck has about 80% highway miles, and been cared for and never abused. Now, Ford is telling me, the entire transmission needs to be replaced, at a high cost, and the truck has about 80k miles on it.
I have had my 2019 Ford Ranger in for service to address issues with the transmission on 3 different occasions starting in fall of 2023. Each time paying $106 for the deductible on the warranty to service a "technical service bulletin" (TSB). Each time, being told of a different TSB that they would be addressing. Never addressing them all at the same time. In may of 2025, still experiencing the same/similar issues, I brought in in again only to be told that there was a TSB that they did not service, that my warranty had expired. Upon searching the internet, there are many people reporting similar issues with a similar response from Ford. I have spoken to multiple dealerships as well as reached out to Ford car with little to no response.
Transmission is shifting extremely rough, lunges forward or completely disengaged in lower gears. Initially started to happen with cold starts but now continues to happen regardless of the amount of drive time. Completely unsafe when merging into traffic because transmission will either exhibit low power, shift roughly or completely disengage. Transmission has disengaged 5 times so far during initial acceleration. Issue has been confirmed by my Ford dealer. Vehicle is currently being serviced for complete transmission replacement. Dealer has told me that this a frequent complaint that they are experiencing with Ford car owners with the 10r80 transmission.
The vehicle is shifting rough between 2nd and 3rd gear. It has trouble getting up to speed through intersections.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford Ranger. The contact stated she had noticed that a mixture of fluid and oil had leaked inside the rear passengers' side wheel, and onto the brakes calipers and the rear axle. The dealer diagnosed that the passenger's side rear axle seal was leaking. The dealer replaced the passenger's side rear axle seal. Additionally, the contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle jerked and jolted while the transmission skipped from 1st to 3rd gear. The contact also stated that the vehicle hesitated to respond and made an abnormal sound when accelerating and decelerating, and then jolted when shifting into gears. The contact stated that the failure had been recurring increasingly. The dealer was notified of the failure and an appointment was scheduled for diagnostic testing. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 68,000.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford Ranger. The contact stated that while driving 65 mph, the vehicle decelerated to 35 mph. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the transmission was skipping gear, slipping, and shifting hard. The check engine warning light was briefly illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed that the head gasket was failing. The dealer stated that coolant was intruding into the engine, and there was engine oil was entering into the spark plugs, causing engine failure. The dealer also diagnosed the vehicle with transmission failure. The head gasket and the transmission were replaced; however, the failure persisted. The dealer informed the contact that the vehicle needed to be drive more often for the vehicle to run properly. The dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was taken to another dealer, mountain grove Ford (11311 bus dr #60, mountain grove, mo 65711); and the vehicle was diagnosed with a transmission fluid leak and fractured head gasket. The head gasket was replaced; however, the failure persisted. The transmission jerked abnormally when the vehicle was shifted into park on an incline. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The manufacturer opened a case regarding the failures and extended the warranty for the transmission. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 65,000.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford Ranger. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle hesitated. The contact then stated that the vehicle failed to shift while accelerating. As a result, the contact had to use the automatic shift to manually drive the vehicle. The power train warning light illuminated. The dealer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that a technician was unavailable at the specific location and advised to take the vehicle to a sister dealer where the vehicle remained and diagnosed that the transmission had failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was offered half the cost of the repair, but no further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 62,000.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford Ranger. The contact stated that the transmission was shifting roughly. While approaching a stop, there was an abnormal squealing sound detected from the tires, with the vehicle vibrating. The vehicle was randomly changing lanes while driving. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who test drove the vehicle and confirmed that the vehicle had abruptly downshifted, and the tires were squealing. The contact called the local dealer, but the vehicle was not diagnosed. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.
March 17, 2023 my transmission, went out on my 2019 Ford Ranger 4 x 4. I was driving on the interstate in houston, TX during the Friday afternoon rush-hour, when I completely lost power. It was very difficult to get off the interstate due to the traffic. I had experienced some transmission issues in the week before it failed there had been some jerking, hesitation, and the truck would lurch forward when accelerating from a stopped position and while driving there was harsh shifting. I had checked the transmission fluid and it was normal. There were no warning messages prior to it going out. I had the truck towed to a Ford dealership where I was told the transmission was still under warranty. It took the dealership nine weeks to repair the transmission. It is now one year later, and I have just started experiencing the same harsh shifting on the interstate, jerking and hesitation.
Since owning the vehicle, I have experienced a range of serious transmission issues. These include harsh or delayed gear shifts, inconsistent downshifts, and transmission slipping. The vehicle also frequently jerks or lurches during gear changes. Of particular concern is the vehicle’s behavior during downshifting. At times, the transmission downshifts abruptly and causes the vehicle to lunge forward unexpectedly. This unpredictable behavior presents a significant safety concern, particularly in traffic situations where smooth and predictable vehicle response is essential. These transmission issues negatively affect the safety, drivability, and reliability of the vehicle and are not consistent with normal operation.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford Ranger . The contact stated that while driving at an 70 mph on cruise control, the vehicle made an abnormal sound. The contact stated, he reduced the speed to 30 mph and set it back on cruise control. While at a stop sign the vehicle lost motive power. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.
This truck we have had in the shop for the transmission 5 different times the truck at all different speeds jerks like the gear is not igniting in then starts to shake the shop has reported that it does not shift properly then yesterday Dec 24th, 2022 the trucks wrench came on the breaks locked up and the power train locked up I have all documents we purchased the truck in March 2022 and have been having this transmission issue since I have contacted Ford numerous times and also emailed numerous times the dealership we purchased the truck from has done nothing except keep reprogramming the computer in the system which is not the issue the transmission is under warranty to 60000 miles and we have been having this issue since June 2022. Now that everything locked up on the vehicle we are not safe to even take the truck out on the road we do not want to get injured no the defective issue causing an accident and someone else getting injured. Ford has done nothing to fix or solve the issue at this point the vehicle has 59105. 3 miles on it should not be having these issues and the dealership automotive repair shop not fixing the issue at this point need to buy this vehicle back and not sell it it is to dangerous and can cause injuries. We have been trying since June 2022 to get this truck fixed. 3 months after purchasing it and sales rep that sold it to us at parkway Nissan, Ford Chrysler just says have to take it to their shop which has not done a thing to fix the issue. 12/24/2022 the power train wrench light came on breaks locked up we had a hard time to even start the truck then the breaks was not properly working and started making a noise.
Transmission clunk jerky and sifting not right. 10r80 transmission just like the f150. Took to Ford dealer twice still with same issues. Driving is not safe for roads with traffic and I know others feel the same too.
Purchased this vehicle (2019 Ford Ranger XLT), in 2019. Over the last month or so, started developing a shimmy when starting out, bad shimmy when slowing down. Had the brakes checked, no issue. Continued it get worse, developing harder shimmy when starting and braking, began feeling a delay in shifting gears. Dropped it off where I purchased it, priority Ford norfolk, was told that the transmission needed to be replaced. 3 year old truck, transmission went bad. After during research, these particular transmissions (10 speed) was installed in Rangers, f150s, explorers etc. This transmission issue poses a risk to safety when driving. When slowing down, it had major difficulty down shifting and coming to a smooth stop, it would feel like it was locking up.
This 2019 Ranger is experiencing jerky and erratic shifting. At low rpm’s (parking lots) it requires excessive rpm’s and resulting speeds to shift between gears. It also clunks when downshifting, feeling like the vehicle was hit by another car.
The 10r80 10 speed transmission will slip, shutter, stall, jump in and out of gear, slam into gear, and often times will wait till you are at a complete stop to downshift into 1st gear which makes the entire truck lunge forward almost like you’ve been rear ended. I’ve been to 2 different Ford dealerships, had my truck in the shop multiple times and all I hear is them telling me that it’s normal and they get these complaints a lot. Long lewis Ford of prattville alabama will play dumb and hold my truck in their parking lot for a few days then say they found nothing wrong. Collier Ford of wetumpka alabama told me over the phone that the symptoms I’m experiencing are normal and they they will not touch my truck unless it has a wrench light on. A $36,000 truck should not have these issues and it be deemed “normal” or even “acceptable”.
I changed my oil at 5,000 miles, I have approximately 8,400 miles on my truck now. I noticed excessive fuel built up in my oil catch can. After doing some research a lot of people with the 2019 Ford Ranger are having the same issue. I checked my oil and my oil was saturated with fuel. Fuel is getting into the engine oil.
I have had my 2019 Ford Ranger XLT supercrew in the dealers shop twice. Both for automatic transmission related problems. The first issue happened just shy of 20k miles. The truck would shake and jerk when starting from a light or stop. The transmission was pretty much overhauled. The second issue happened around 8k miles later as I hit 28k miles. This time the truck would hesitate between gears. I took it back to the dealership and they replaced the. Module for a second time after first replacing it at the time they overhauled the transmission. In addition they also replaced the converter. I have been the only owner of the vehicle and don't mistreat it.
After approximately each 500 miles the oil level rises to, and then above, the safe maximum fill marker on the dipstick. The oil smells strongly of fuel. Driving includes short commutes in residential areas (CA 20 miles) and longer road trips (CA 400 miles) the rising oil level appears to be the result of fuel leaking into the system/crank case. Over 4,600 miles (of 9,000 total) the truck has had multiple oil changes due to this issue, but without resolution; fuel smell and rising oil level continue. Services, including oil changes each time follow: 23 June 2020 (4,396 miles) 28 July 2020 (4,806 miles) 8 September 2020 (5,436 miles) 26 October 2020 (7,238 miles; high oil level and fuel vapor valve failure, w/ error code for latter) 28 December 2020 (9,052 miles) the Ford dealership has acknowledged that the problem is persistent and they have not been able to fix the matter because the vehicle is not showing an electronic error code and Ford has not issued a technical service bulletin.
While coming to a complete stop, the truck surges forward. It has happened 6+ times within 16,000 miles, every time it feels like I was just rear ended by the vehicle behind me. Fortunately, no accidents have occurred as a result of this. The unintended acceleration bumps the truck forward anywhere from 10 to 15 feet as I am slowing down. It happens from 5mph and under. The transmission was checked by the dealer but no issue was found. The truck is currently at a Ford dealer for the second time for this issue. They are replacing the gas pedal.
Leased the Ranger in October of 2019. From then until now there have been more than 6 instances where the gear shift lever has been placed in park, but the truck has freely rolled away. This has happened in my driveway, while parked on a busy street, in a crowded parking garage in denver, and a couple of other places. I've been lucky each time it rolled away in an area crowded with pedestrians or traffic heavy because I've been able to open the door and jump back in and pull the emergency brake, without someone getting run over. In the parking garage a friend of mine would have been pinned between the truck and a concrete wall if she had been just one second slower walking around the truck. We had just parked and were going to walk to the elevator and were too busy talking to notice the truck was rolling toward us. Right after she was out of the path we heard something behind us and turned to see it had hit the wall, about 3 inches away from the back of her legs. I've taken the truck into 2 dealerships to have it repaired and they say there is nothing wrong. There have been numerous witnesses that have seen me place the truck in park, only to have it move on its own, but luther family Ford in fargo, nd and Ford motor company customer care have told me that they do not accept witness accounts for any issue on their vehicles. They have said that if a warning light doesn't illuminate or an error code isn't recorded in the diagnostics then a problem does not exist. But this is a serious problem, the vehicle is unsafe and may end up killing someone the next time it happens. I'm a disabled veteran and have some mobility issues, the next time I may not be fast enough to get to the truck to pull the emergency brake, or I may not be fast enough to move if I'm in the path of the truck , and then I'll be the one crushed underneath the runaway pos.
Takata recall- I was recently in a car accident with my 2019 Ford Ranger and when I pressed the brake the would not apply so I continued to pump the brake and would not apply as I approached the other vehicle the precollison assist turned on and still nothing as I held the brakes down causing an accident.
