1 Child Seat problem of the 2000 Ford Ranger

Failure Date: 10/30/1999

Jump-seat passenger slammed head into rear glass during sudden stop. Passenger was a 7-year old child that slammed her head into the back glass during a sudden stop. The jump seats are extremely dangerous for passengers, and a forceful impact or crash would send the passenger's head through the back window. Factory and dealership have been unwilling to take corrective action. The vehicle was recommended by the dealer to be safe for jumpseat occupants. The only resolution is to place the child in the front seat with only a lapbelt. Consumer is trying to have dealership take the vehicle in on trade for another vehicle that does not pose a safety risk for children.
