The rear seats in the 2024/2025 Ford raptor Ranger are connected to the rear of the cab via a single latch. The single latch does not always latch. I noticed it had failed to properly latch the next day when I was installing my car seats. I figured it was user error, but than I re-tested it and struggled to properly latch it. The danger is the rear portion of the seat could suddenly fold forward during a hard break or accident, resulting in serious injury to rear passengers.
Rear seat latch does not work resulting in seat collapsing forward when braking and would also collapse in an accident. Seat belts and child car seat would not be functional. Appears to be a common problem based on our research on the internet. Salinas Ford dealership rep stated repairs are not covered because it is not a seat belt. This vehicle only has 2,758 miles, even though it is a 2020.

The contact owns a 2019 Ford Ranger. The contact stated that while driving approximately 30-40 mph, there was an abnormal burning odor detected. The contact stated that the front driver’s side heated seat had burned a two-inch hole into the seat, the upper back rest, and heating pad. The contact also noticed that the heated seat was inoperable. There were no warning lights illuminated. There were no blown fuses. The vehicle was taken to the dealer however, a service date was not available. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact repaired the seat himself. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred him to the local dealer for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 54,000.

The drivers side seat heater short circuited and melted the seat cover and foam. The short circuit left an approximately 1 inch hole through the seat.
As I was driving down the road I began I started to smell something unusual - in a way it smelled like burning plastic and/or anti-freeze. I then began to feel quite a bit more heat than usual on my lower back, so much I knew something was wrong. I pulled my truck over, got out and as soon as I got out my heated seat started producing smoke where I believe the main heated seat coil is. Within seconds a flame burst out from the seat. I luckily had a drink in my cup holder that I reached over to grab & pour out on the flame. It kept smoking after I dumped the liquid on it. I then grabbed a water bottle from my back seat & was able to put the fire out completely. In conclusion, my 2019 Ford Ranger lariat crew cab heated seat caught fire while it was turned on, on 9/15/2022 at approx. 9:00a.
The backrest (back seat) no longer latches unless you very firmly push it backwards. I called the Ford dealer. The service person told me that he had the the same problem with his Ranger and that it was a common problem with the Ranger. In his words, he told me to slam the backrest backward - -which I did and then it latched. This a safety issue. Very easy to think that it is latched unless you pull the backrest forward. I checked the internet. Other people have had the same problem. Especially after placing some weight on the seat cushion. My problem began after my 8 year old grandson simply sat on the seat.

This vehicle is brand new. 250 miles. Seat belt warning indicator remains on for rear passenger side and will not clear. No one is in the seat. Tried buckling seat belt for rear passenger seat - warning cleared. Unbuckled and warning appears again and won't clear. There are no objects on the seat. Shut vehicle off and dismounted. Got back in and restarted vehicle. Seat belt warning indicator remains on for rear passenger side and will not clear. Ford has nothing documented for clearing this. Dealership will not acknowledge this and does not have a 'fix'. The resulting warning may now affect how safety/collision systems will operate in an actual collision.

The recall we were warned of has given us anxiety even to drive this vehicle not to mention its a roll over risk in the first place. We called three times and they have yet to return a phone call with a replacement part so our only option is to type a formal complaint!!!. . !!!.

I was leaving the parking lot of the grocery store I had been shopping at, and the drivers side reclining seat latch assembly that controls the angle of, and locks the back of the seat into position, gave way and the back of the seat collapsed backwards causing me to go backwards as well. Fortunately I was able to stop my vehicle without causing a collision or injury. The vehicle is now at home, and with internet research it seems that the reclining seat latch assembly has been a weak point with Ford Ranger trucks and Ford explorer SUV vehicles for years. The Ford dealer/service center that I do business with, now tells me that the replacement part is obsolete and they will have to contact various dealers still listing it in their inventory to see if they can get the part, as the parts supplier for Ford that made the replacement latches went out of business during the bad economy. I'm amazed that a recall has not been issued, given the potential for great harm and possible injury or death from the failure of this component.

I was backing my 2002 Ford Ranger XLT into my driveway and when I stopped the driver side seat back gave way without warning and I slammed into the back of the cab. When I looked around the seat I saw two bolt heads . . . They appeared to be sheared off. My seat back will not stay or latch any more.

I own a 2005 2 door Ford Ranger XLT. With approximately 29,000 total miles. It is supposed to be covered under the new car warranty until August 2008 or 30,000 total miles. Problem: the passenger side seat back occasionally sticks in the full upright or reclined position when the seat back release lever is pulled up, (activated). It takes up to several minutes of jiggling the back and release lever to get the back to swing forward. Also the release lever has been found to stick in a position that won't allow the back to move. Our grandsons have been riding in back at times, (until I realized the potential danger of not allowing them to exit in a hurry). I have taken the truck to the local dealer, (I will go there tomorrow for the forth time) to have the mechanism fixed or the seat replaced. The dealer states that they cannot fix the problem unless it occurs when they are working on the truck. The problem first appeared about a year ago, I believe. I have informed the dealer, verbally, of the potential danger, but they appear to be adverse to making a correction. I could find no recall notice or other information of similar problems with two older Rangers I owned in the past.

: the contact stated while driving 2 mph in reverse, the vehicle nearly struck a pedestrian due to the seat backs of both the driver and passenger seats blocking out most of the visibility through the rear window. A service dealer was consulted, who instructed the contact to contact the manufacturer.
: the contact stated while driving 35 mph, the vehicle slid on black ice and rolled down a hill. The driver seat back pushed forward trapping the driver, and caused minor injuries. A police report was taken. The vehicle was towed to the tow yard and later deemed totaled by the insurance company. The dealer was not contacted.

Dt: consumer states while driving his vehicle, the driver's seat collapsed backward.
The consumer believes that the driver's seats design decreases the driver's peripheral vision and increases the chances of an accident. The solid piece incorporating the head rest was so high that there was no visibility between the top of the seats and the ceiling of the cab.

I just bought a 2004 Ford Ranger regular cab in Aug 2004. About 2 weeks ago after a heavy rain the whole inside of my vehicle was wet. It was wet from both the driver and the passenger head rests to the floor. It took a little over a week for the vehicle to dry out. I took it to the Ford dealer that I bought it from and they told me that I had a defective window. They did not even have to look at the truck to tell me what the problem was. They had to order a new back window for me. The assistant service manager told me that the problem the seat back pushes out the back window and water can get inside. I am 6'4" and I have to have the seat all the way back to drive. When they replaced the window I talk to the auto glass company that they sub the work out to. He told me that this was a very common problem in the Ranger regular cabs. He said that he has had a few vehicles that come in every 3 months to get a new rear window. I have also called Ford and spoke with them about the problem. They offered little help. My new truck now smells like mold and mildew, but they will do nothing to fix that, even though it is their fault, or the window problem other than replace it if it happens again. I think that the seat is the major problem. Not only does it push the glass out it also restricts the rear view of the truck while driving because the seats go all the way to the ceiling. What would happen in a accident if the seat pushes out the back window?.
Problems with visibility and seat head rest. No answer required - no contact information provided. The consumer stated the back of the driver and passenger seats was one piece incorporating into the head rest. The seat backs come very close to the ceiling of the cab allowing no visibility between the ceiling and the top of the seat. The back of the passengers seat blocked the view through the right side mirror.
I recently purchased a 2004 Ford Ranger edge, regular cab. I am 5'10", and sit with my seat as far back as it will go in the truck. This, unfortunately caused my rear window to pop out of the truck. I took the truck back to the dealer, where they said that's a common problem with the make and year of my truck, and all Ford is doing is reinforcing the windows. The windows are not a problem, it is the seat. The seat was not designed correctly for the truck, but Ford is not willing to redesign the seats, recall the trucks, or upgrade trucks to extended cabs. This poses a problem because even after the window is fixed, the problem is going to happen again. And "god forbid" I ever get into a rear-end collision - what happens to my window, me, my seat, etc?! this problem ends up being more serious than Ford is willing to take responsibility for, and I strongly feel this should be reported. I know for a fact it is not just my truck with the problem - a dealer and I went around trying out other trucks to see if they had the same problem on the lot, and sure enough, we pushed the seat all the way back, and the windows popped out. This was just sitting in the truck!! what happens in a collision???.
Consumer insisted that the steering wheel was mounted too low. The consumer hit the steering wheel with his thigh when changing from the brake pedal to the accelerator pedal. There was not enough leg room to apply the brakes. Upon the consumers inspection of the problem, he discovered a bolt in the seat track which did not allow the seat to extend fully to the rear position. The bolt was fine thread 2 1/2" long-wedge in track-one side worn. The bolt was removed and it worked fine.
Right front seat doesn't slide or tip forward enough to get into rear of vehicle. Also, can't reach in to fastened safety belt when a child is in rear. Contacteed Ford, and Ford stated that was the way vehicle was designed.
No summary included for above vehicle.
