Three problems related to engine overheat have been reported for the 1996 Ford Taurus. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
While sitting in traffic smelled engine coolant. 15 minutes after traffic broke lose, at 60 mph, check engine soon, illuminated. Temperature showed normal. Then, the engine stalled. I barely got the car over to the side of the interstate in heavy traffic before it quit. Engine then overheated. The vehicle was towed to the dealership. I was told by service rep that the engine would have to be replaced. The damage was caused by heat. Repairs covered under TSB 97-24-16 have been performed on this car, although not by the dealer. Maurice at Ford customer service said they would absolutely not do anything to help me out.
Continuous problems with the engine overheating over the past 6 months.
While driving engine overheated due to blown head gasket. Dealer has not seen vehicle.
