One problem related to parking brake linkage and cable has been reported for the 1996 Ford Taurus. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Faulty emergency brake cables caused rear brakes to overheat and brake system to fail (brake pedal to floor) at 60 mph. Brakes returned to normal when wheel cylinders cooled.
