Transmission has failed. Started by not shifting into overdrive. Then as I was driving down the road it completely went out leaving me coasting into a parking lot. There was no signs or warning lights to indicate a problem. It only has 72,000 miles on it.
The consumer complained about transmission failure. While driving, the transmission suddenly malfunctioned. The consumer was told by the manufacturer and dealer that the pin did not stay engaged in the park position. He was told by dealer that Ford was aware of this problem and there was a recall on this problem, but because he lived in canada he never received thr recall notice. The consumer purchased the vehicle in canada. The consumer spent about $5000-6000 in repairs on something that was recalled and no one wanted to help him because of where he lived.
While driving transmission failed, causing the driver to pull off the highway. The driver had vehicle towed to the dealer.

Transmission failure as you described in your February 2001 article on anod e transmissions. The car has 97k miles on it and I believe the used car dealer knew it had problems when he sold it to me but I didn't have the knowledge concerning the car until I visited this website. I believe I will use the lemon aid car book in trying to get either Ford or the dealer to deliver. While on the highway, the engine revved but there was no foward movement, vehicle suffered catastrophic transmission failure.
On 8/3/2001, while in heavy traffic on interstate 95 in maryland, my Ford Taurus suffered a castrophic transmission failure, which resulted in the car having no power, while the engine revved. I narrowly missed multiple accidents and was able to make my way to the shoulder. This failure wa sudden and extreme and could have resulted in my family's injury or death. I was towed to a transmission shop who had to perform a major rebuild of my transmission, including hard parts. The cost was in excess of $2600.

The vehicle has experienced transmission failure, consumer is requesting Ford to repair due to Ford having knowledge of the transmission defect, however Ford will not reimburse due to the model year of the vehicle only 1994 and 1995 model years are covered under the warranty.

Transmission failed at 38,000 miles. Ford was notified and didn't care because it was beyond their 36,000 mile warranty. The transmission was full of cracks, and had to have started before 36,000 mi. This was the second transmission I put into a Ford car and would like to be reimbursed . I tried to get an appointment with a Ford service center, but they were too busy. I took it to independent station . They had 4 other Taurus' there for transmissions, all fairly new cars.

After transmission failure (5) weeks after the purchase of the car jackson Ford immediately claimed Ford had no liabilty regarding this issue. After searching the internet we discovered there is a major problem concerning this particular transmission and are starting to investigate our options.
