3 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 12/22/2017

I am filing dual complaints pertaining to this issue, first with the national highway transportation safety authority and a second consumer complaint with mr. Patrick morrisey, attorney general west virginia. The attorney general has a consumer protection division to help residents in the event of a safety concern and a consumer complaint that brings a concern to the safety of others, as well as the safety of the public and the consumer. Under "speed control" as checked off, this includes systems and devices intended to control (accelerate) the speed of the vehicle to the driver's intent such as the accelerator pedal, throttle control cables, linkages, actuators, electronic control units and software, cruise control system actuators and deactivating systems, and other components and systems that may interfere with the speed control system (e. G. , floor mats). My 2004 Taurus has nearly 90,000 miles. It has been running well. On multiple incidents in 2017 my Taurus would without any warning or indications suddenly begin to accelerate on its own. I describe it to others as having to throttle stick. I was freaking out, because cars behind me did not understand what was happening and I was afraid they would easily become collateral damage. I put the car into nuetral and the engine on its own volition revved up to over 4000 rpm. A person on the side walk thought I was about to strike them as they jump out of the way. I learned 150 faulty speed control problem complaints, 6 injuries, and 1 death. This problem is a very common problem the NHTSA has known since 2004, people have been injured as a result and even death reported but strangely no safety recall has been issued about this terrible and tragic problem, which is another reason I am filing the dual complaint in the hopes that attorney general morrisey. He is responsible for public safety from such issue.

While driving and approaching an intersection I began to apply brake for red light, the rpms spiked to 4000. The car continued to accelerate on it's own. Tried to tap brake again. . No change. Put the car in neutral and tapped gas to finally get the rpms to lower to at least 2000 level. This has happened at least 4 other times.

14 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 04/28/2013

I own a 2004 Ford Taurus ses v6 with an automatic transmission. I drove to work with no warning sounds, smells, or warning lights, and it drove perfectly. I attempted to go to lunch, and the vehicle started just fine, but wouldn't shift into any gears/reverse ect. I have researched online as well as the transmission shops, and this is a known problem. As far as I know so far the Ford freestar has the same issue & a class action was filed & then Ford followed up with a recall. Please do something about this! I have filed a complaint with Ford with no acknowledgement or resolution. I feel sick to be out so much money for a known problem. Of course I do feel lucky I wasn't driving when it happened like many others. Ford shouldn't be able to turn a blind eye to this!.

15 Power Train problem

Drove from work to home, parked car. When I went to go start car, it would not go forward or reverse. Had it towed to Ford dealer. 20 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 03/13/2012

The car will try to accelerate when coming to a stop as well as when you foot is off the accelerator. In the instances that this has happened my wife or I has shifted the car to neutral at a stop and the engine will rev to 3,000 rpms and stay there. Please note when this happens the car will try to move forward and accelerate in drive even when your foot is on the brake.

21 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 02/16/2012

My newly licensed 16 year old son was driving home from school and suddenly the car stopped pulling. It stayed running and he was able to barely coast to the side of the road. It would not go forward or backward and there was no noise or prior indication that there was a problem. After investigating the problem on the internet this is a very common problem. Recall this vehicle immediately before someone gets killed. A class action lawsuit is warranted due to the danger of this problem. I am hoping taking this route will get results. If not I will take other routes to get the attention this matter desperately needs. Local news media as well as bbb and other avenues.

The throttle sticks when slowing down to a stop. It suddenly revs up. Must stomp on the brakes and attempt to throw into neutral. Had been able to stop but 2 days ago rear ended a truck. Damage to my car.

27 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 02/09/2011

I was driving down route 4 south from forestville, MD towards upper marlboro, MD. I went to accelerate, when the rpm gauge began to climb about as high as it could go. At the same time, the mph gauge began to decrease. I pulled my vehicle off of the road onto the shoulder and let it coast to a stop. I could shift from "drive" to "reverse" to "1st", but the car would not move forward or backwards. I had it towed for repairs.
