Unknown Or Other problem #1

My 2005 Ford Taurus accelerated abrubtly at an intersection at 4000 rpm. If a car had been in front of me it would have hit them. The car was able to get through the intersection and into a parking lot. The car was towed and as the tow truck driver started the car it revved up again and he was able to stop it in time. It is currently at my mechanic in pompano beach florida.

Unknown Or Other problem #2

The mileage listed is approximate as the car is still in for servicing. On the morning of 3/14/2012, I was slowing down to stop at a red light. The car felt like it was still accelerating, as if the cruise control was on. I hit the brakes but nothing happened. I ended up having to hold the brake down to the floor to make the car come to a stop. I tried shifting into neutral and the rpms shot up to 4. I shifted back into drive and the car still tried to accelerate. The whole time at the red light, the engine was revving and the brake felt like it was fighting the accelerator. When the light turned green and I took my foot off the brake pedal, the car accelerated. I pulled off into a parking lot and held the brake to the floor again to make it stop. I put the car in neutral and the rpms shot up again. I put it in park and the rpms were going to 5. I turned the car off thinking that may reset whatever the issue was. I waited 5 minutes before turning the car back on and when I did, the rpms again shot up to 4. I called the nearest Ford dealership to make arrangements for service and started the car again. The same thing happened. I shifted into drive and as soon as I took my foot off the brake the car accelerated. The car seemed to be stuck in cruise control, fully accelerating. The car was taken straight to the dealership and when the technician started the vehicle, he experienced the same issue. After a diagnostic test, the technician told me that the issue was with the air intake and also stated there was an electronic update for the Taurus available. I asked if this would correct the acceleration issue and he stated that it should.

Unknown Or Other problem #3

2005 Ford Taurus - throttle sticks, vehicle will speed up without pushing on the gas. This has occurred numerous times, quite scary regardless of location or speed. This has occurred in town and on the interstate. Vehicle must be put in neutral and the gas peddle must be pushed to the floor to get vehicle back under control.

Unknown Or Other problem #4

I was driving my Ford Taurus at about 30 mph when the vehicle unexpectedly accelerated up to 45 mph even after releasing the gas pedal completely. Brakes slow the car but with more resistance than usual, and manually parking and restarting did not help the problem. I was able to drive about 5 miles home without ever touching the gas, but often having to ride the brakes. The engine revs very high (about 3,00rpm) even in park. The vehicle was taken to a private mechanic but the vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was apx 140,000. I dont know how this can pass without a recall as I read of many other instances of this with my year, make and model.

The transmission on my six year old vehicle failed after only 79,000 miles. . Read more...

I noticed a musty smell first. After a heavy rain I noticed that my passenger foot well was soaking wet under the floor mat. I dried it up. Next time it rained it was wet again and I did notice some dripping from the top right of the foot well. Other water is coming in somewhere else, maybe behind the carpet as it is getting more wet every time it rains. The entire floor is soaked with water.

Unknown Or Other problem #7

I just recently purchased a 2005 Ford Taurus and it was running fine for like 2 days. Then the cruise stopped working a few days later the accelerator begin to stick. I was going about 30 and suddenly the car began to take off on its on and I nearly hit the car in front of me. I had to steering off the road and pressing the brakes was very hard. This seems to be a trend for the car and is extremely dangerous!! someone should not have to die for this to be recalled!!.

Unknown Or Other problem #8

First, I want to say that this vehicle is well mantained and serviced on a regular basis. It was a pleasent summer day but had more of a autumn feeling wether. I was driving on the interstate in east tennessee, I had just merge onto the interstate and had been driving for maybe 10 minutes. I slowed down for traffic to about 40 mph as I crest a hill. When I stepped back onto the gas (going down hill now), I felt the car shift into 4 gear. I then felt, and heard a pop similiar to a blowout, but in reality it was the car sliding out of gear. I had only managed to reach about 50mph when the car stop accelearating, (I put on my hazards) I was trying to coast to a safe place, but the constrution projects made no place to pull off. Within 5 seconds, a car traveling behind me was bumped by a tractor trailor and was knocked into me. My Ford mechanic says the transmission is shot and the catalytic converter went out (was that the popping noise? I wonder. ) $3500 to fix this problem. I have google 05 transmission problems and have found numerous over 500 problems that have to do with. I don't know whether Ford was trying to save a few dollars, or if they were trying to save fuel mileage, but this transmission is a serious problem. I will not buy another Ford if this problem doesn't get resolve by Ford recalling these transmissions. Last laugh, insurance compainies will repair any car to the quality it was just before the wreck (no better, no worse. ). Since my transmission went out before the car wreck, they can replace it, ergo. . . The insurance covers the body work, but will not cover the transmission. My question to Ford is does someone have to die before you fix your errors. My father worked at Ford for 22 years; he would be. . . . Really disappointed to see what Ford pass for quality.

Unknown Or Other problem #9

While in parking lot, car suddenly accelerated without touching the gas pedal. Held the brakes to keep car from moving and put the car in neutral. When I put the car in neutral, the rpms when up to 7000, gas pedal was not being touched. After I got the car stopped and while in neutral, I quickly pumped the gas pedal once and the engine came back down to idle. This has happened on the highway as well. I am surprised by the many reports of this on the Ford Taurus that it isn't a recall. This is the same type of issue Toyota had. Sudden acceleration. Does someone have to die before this gets recalled?.

Unknown Or Other problem #10

Numerous times, when the foot was removed the accelerator, the engine did not return to idle but continued as if your foot was still on the accelerator. Would have to apply brakes and get off the road. Extremely hard to stop if going very fast. Kill the engine, raise the hood and barely touch throttle control where the accelerator cable is attached and it would snap back to the idle position. This has happened at least 7 or 8 times. Extremely dangerous!.

Unknown Or Other problem #11

While sitting at a stop light I felt the car trying to lunge forward. When the light turned green and I slowly released my foot from the break the car began to accelerate and move on its own without me stepping on the gas pedal. I had difficulty stopping the car completely and pulled to the side of the road and put the vehicle in park. The car started revving up and becoming very loud. I put the car back into drive and the car drove on its own. This happened again today, but the acceleration speed was more aggressive this time, I pulled over into a empty parking lot I was too afraid to be behind another vehicle because although the brakes were working I had to press all the way down to floor to get them to stop the vehicle completely. What's even worse is now my car has started to accelerate in reverse as well. After seeing the same complaint over and over on this site I do not know why the car has not been recall. This is very dangerous. I felt afraid for my life! and by the way last week I made my final car payment for this car and just days later this happened!.

Unknown Or Other problem #12

2005 Taurus - driving car and came to a stop. When I went to excelerate transmission would not catch gear. There was no slipping of gears, noises or any other kind of warrning that the transmission was going out. I have found a couple links on the internet where this has happened to serval people with the same year car. . Read more...

Unknown Or Other problem #13

Drive at about 20mph. Try to hit the brake to stop. Car make very loud noise. Found gas pedal not come back. Take to dealer, dealer told me gas pedal stick due to some spot on throttle body. So have to change the throttle body.

Unknown Or Other problem #14

My 2005 Ford Taurus has been a headache since day one. Today on my way to work the car suddenly accelerated and applying the brakes was a challenge as I almost couldn’t stop when pulling over for safety. Prior to this, over $2000 for a new engine, another $900 for a new transmission, another $250 for a power steering pump, and daily issues like the door not latching and me trying to hold driver’s door shut while driving at the same time, and then having to tie a rope across the front seat to the passenger door. Also, the daytime running lights turn on on their own at any given time and drain the battery. This car is a piece of crap. If you buy this kind or car, make sure you have aaa too.

Unknown Or Other problem #15

The best way to describe what happened is that it seemed to be doing exactly what the toyotas were doing, accelerating on it's own. When I would get to approx. 50-55mph, I could feel the gas pedal "stick. " the car would then accelerate on it's own without my foot on the gas, up hills, on flat roads, etc. The brakes would stop the car, but you could hear the engine idling in a higher gear, and when the brake was released, the car would take off without gas being applied. Once, when I was parking, the car was doing this and when I placed the gear in "p" the rpm's when past 3 before I shut the car off. When I called the Ford company to inquire about this, they instantly knew what the problem was and said they had seen 3 come in with the same problem already. The problem ended up being the throttle body and cruise control cables. I just felt that I needed to let you know of the situation as it concerned me while I was driving and if it has happened enough that one dealership knows the problem instantly without seeing the car, I think this may be an issue that warrants a recall of some kind.

Unknown Or Other problem #16

This happened in a 2005 Ford Taurus se sedan with the 3. 0l vulcan v6 flex-fuel engine. Car was just hitting 85,000 when the problem appeared. Car began to make a squealing noise- which turned out to be the belt beginning to wear heavily. It was changed, and the noise became even worse. Now an added clunking sound began to manifest itself. It was found out to be the a/c compressor beginning to break. In fact, a knut or something had become lose, which was the clunking noise I heard. The whole compressor had to be replaced and filled (so I can use the a/c. ) and a new belt had to be bought as well. If this compressor wasn't replaced, it would have failed- causing it to seize, the belt to break, and my engine to quickly overheat and probably crack. It took around 2 hours to replace everything- including letting the broken a/c compressor out. Illegal, but I could not afford taking it to the dealer and getting charged $800+ so I had my brother in law do it. Altogether I spent around $350 for parts and labor. I later learned, from my mechanic friend, that Taurus' hitting around 80k have this same a/c compressor failure like clockwork. It's a common problem, that is expensive, and should have been fixed if it is known what causes it.

Unknown Or Other problem #17

It seems like after heavy rain water collects somewhere within the dash and runs down into the front passenger floorboard of the car. It collects several inches of water that sits in the floorboard and I have to soak it up with a lot of towels. I keep a garbage bag in the floorboard to keep from ruining my carpet which already smells real bad as a result of this issue. I have read numerous complaints about this very problem on other Ford Taurus' going back to at least 2001 models. Has there been a recall? I read in the complaints that it caused their blower motor to need to be replaced. I would like to get this problem taken care of ASAP but feel that since this is an ongoing issue with the Ford Taurus then Ford should recall it and they should repair it at no cost. They should also be required to look at the blower motor and anything else it could have effected and replace if needed. I would also like to request they clean my carpet and get the bad smell out of it. I was told to refer to a related recall under 03v08700 and complaint #10184014. Thanks!.

Unknown Or Other problem #18

I tried to look up my car and Ford did make the Taurus for 2005 and 2006, I own a 2005 one.
