While driving on hwy. 10 w. At approx 70 mph, the wheel became stiff, my service power steering light flashed, the wheel locked, causing me to veer into the traffic of an 18 wheeler. Unable to control the vehicle, I ran off of the embankment of the nearest exit. I tried to add power steering fluid but there was no reservoir. I googled a local repair shop who advised me to take it to a Ford dealership. Stranded with no steering, this created an enormous amount of stress, I am a cancer survivor, my life flashed before me. I was 8 miles from a Ford dealership, I took a back road and creep at 10 miles an hour with no steering. $139 for diagnostic and $2500 for repair; I declined the repair as I have been in cancer treatment for the past year and now covid19. Through the grace of god, steering resumed; I continue towards my destination, los angeles, CA, suddenly the steering went out again arriving in redlands, CA, again swerving recklessly pushing me into traffic on both sides of my vehicle, veering me off of the road onto an exit where I was nearly rear-ended and sideswiped by vehicles exiting hwy 10 w. Ford in the redlands asked for $2,500 only now I was provided with information concerning a recall on the power steering on the year, make and model of my car. I was told that my VIN was not covered. I was instructed to take it to the Ford dealer in the city of san bernardino. They reset the computer the power steering began to work again, they did not know for how long. I immediately canceled my trip to los angeles to get myself and the vehicle back to safety. I made it to the arizona border, the steering went out again; I was thrown to the right side of the road nearly crashing into several cars. I called aaa, towed car to glendale, az, sanderson Ford, 90 miles out. I nearly lost my life due to the faulty power steering unit. Power resumed but was very stiff.

2013 Taurus w/ 82,000 mi -in my driveway, I turned on car, got the power steering assist light, and no steering control - doesn't turn either way. There is a recall for this problem on the 2013 Taurus, but not on my VIN. I called Ford 1-866-436-7332, was given a case number and told to hold on to repair receipts in the case a new recall is issued and my VIN is included. I'm not very hopeful I will ever get reimbursed. I haven't repaired it yet, but will have to since I need my car. I'm terrified of the cost to repair.
Steering power went out, steering light came on. Went to pull out of parking lot and steering got real hard. I turned vehicle off and turned back on and it fixed the problem. (this was about 3 weeks ago). Today I had to replace the battery and after I replaced the battery and starting the vehicle the same problem happened again with the steering, but this time the steer3light stayed on and it is hard to turn.
The power steering module fault light came on. The power steering quit working. Ford had to replace the power steering gear and control module. The 2013 Taurus has been recalled for this issue but not our VIN number. This occurred while the car was stationary which was fortunate. I believe that our vehicle should be covered in this recall since this appears to be the same problem as the previous recall. .
I was backing out my yard and my power steering light came on which made it hard for me to steer. Also my trac advance light came on as well.
I was backing out of a parking spot and the power steering failed. The power steering fault light came on. I turned the car off, turned it back on and the power steering worked. I then took the Taurus to coconut point Ford. They said that I needed a new steering gear assembly and my Taurus was not on the #15s18 recall list. I have enclosed my invoice for $2,093. 45. I talked twice to Ford customer service. I mentioned the 445,000 cars (including the 2013 Taurus) that had been recalled for this same problem. "nothing they can do!" not a great answer. . . Looking on the internet, there are a lot of Ford Taurus customers that had the same problem with their cars being recalled. I am very thankful that my wife was not driving on the highway when this happened!.
