Wheel Bolts Problems of Ford Taurus

1996 Ford Taurus, driver felt vehicle shake, pulled to the right berm and right tire fell off the vehicle. According to the police report, there were five broken tire spokes along with a scraped brake rotor from contact with the roadway. (ohio traffic crash report # 10-0385-91) updated 09/13/bf.

When torquing front wheel studs, studs stretched and snapped off replaced with oem parts.

While driving 35-40 mph, the front passenger side wheel separated from the vehicle. No injuries to report. The vehicle was towed to the repair shop. The mechanic informed the consumer that all the lug nuts had shear off. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified.

Slight noise and vibration but could not locate where from in the car. Ront passenger side wheel fell off. All studs were broke.

Vehicle's left rear tire fell off . Mr while the consumer was on the deceleration ramp to a plaza the left rear wheel fell off. The wheel went into the parking area, struck a vehicle then bounced and hit another vehicle. The wheel came to rest between the two vehicles (ohio traffic crash report).

On left rear wheel, the nut which holds the tire to the spindle spun off of the axle/spindle assembly while driving on the interstate. The entire wheel/drum assembly parted from the vehicle and bounced off down the road as I was driving. Major mechanical failure in the parts which are machined not to come loose, but additionally there are no safety mechanisms to prevent this from happening again to other drivers or owners of this vehicle.

The rear left wheel including the rim came off while in transit. The lugs: nuts that the rim in place were still intact. Lost control of the car, but able to come to a complete stop without any injuries. I am filing a complaint for faulty manufacturing.

Right front tire lugs:nuts were improperly put on. Therefore, tire could not come off when consumer took vehicle to get tires rotated.

Wheel lug nuts came loose. Two had come completely off. Missing nuts replaced. All nuts tightened but kept coming loose throughout trip.
