While driving down the road, a loud humming started to get loud from the front of my car. Then loud clunking/dragging noises. My car started to slow down and the noises got louder. I had to turn on my hazards and slowly drive back home block by block. There is nothing visibly dragging. But I now have to get my car towed from home as it’s not safe to drive. This isn’t the first time this car has had issues with the steering hub, suspension, tie rods, ball joints, control arms, sway bar, etc. I have had to fix and replace that entire area a multitude of times since I’ve had this car.

Every couple weeks when driving slowly around a corner, the brakes will all of a sudden come on & stop my car. If I had anyone behind me, I would have had several collisions, by now. My mechanic has looked at the brakes, wheels, etc. , & cannot find the problem. I am very concerned about this defect. Please help!.

The rear suspension toe link failed on my vehicle while I was driving in city traffic, going straight. I could only go 5 mph to the nearest repair shop as the rear wheel was near falling off. There are several recalls for this identical part, but not my specific VIN. . . . . Even though it's the identical part under other recalls. Safety recall 20s04, 20s62, 19s17, to name a few.

Had the rear toe link recall performed about 2 weeks ago. Finally decided to look and the old links are still on the car. Emailed pictures to service advisor early morning called a few mins later said he get them to his gm manager ASAP. Never got a response decided I'd swing by on my way home. Asked what the deal was. Said they hadn't had a chance to look at it yet. Askek, can I at least have something saying it's safe to drive with these old recalled links they denied the request. Said maybe Ford changed the part and it's not what you think it should look like. Asked assistant service manager to look at the links. Explained the weld that hold the rod and bushing together is what's breaking. The new part has no weld and is once piece. She says she's not sure but it doesn't look like a new part. 73k miles of road grime still on it looking like the rest of the suspension. Well I get home and she calls me. Said I was right that is the old part and the new one is suppose to be a one piece. I say great. But she's wondering why the tech might have penciled whipped the safety recall or if possibly it was a error put my paper work clearly has notes from the tech stating toe links were replaced and alignment was performed to be in spec and test drove care and is in spec. They wanted me to come in first thing Friday morning but I can't miss more work due to there errors so Saturday is the soonest she says okay. A friend told me to fill this out. I'm not sure what I really expect from this but if it saves it from happening to someone else that doesn't know what to look for. It can save a life.
Without warning and while driving ,the steering was very very very hard to steer in yhe proper direction almost causing a head on collision at 50 mph and the oncoming traffic aswell 45mph plus = 95 to 100 mph collision on a two lane two direction highway. When this occurred the power steering info came on said service power steering now and stability control system light came on.
We were returning to our farm from a trip to town. The cruise control was set at the 70mph speed limit. A recent construction project gave us a newly paved road. It was a beautiful sunny day with no wind and temps in the low 80's. We were enjoying the ride and noted what an improvement the newly paved road was. Without warning the tires began squealing and the control characteristics of our Taurus changed dramatically. The steering became labored (I believe from the automated anti lock and traction control systems engageding). My attempt to compensate for the violent change in vehicle operation and regain control were quickly futile. We succumbed to the laws of motion spinning hopelessly out of control across the oncoming lane into the opposite ditch at a high rate of speed. Miraculously we there was no oncoming traffic and we didn't plunge into the myriad of steep terrain conditions common on this stretch of highway. We did not roll but came violently to rest on the far upslope of the opposite roadside ditch. My later research for the cause of our sudden loss of control produced the NHTSA recall no. :20v-072 which identified the rear toe link on certain Ford models as subject to failure. I later confirmed the driver side rear toe link had snapped on our Taurus and was the cause of our accident.

I have purchased 4 aftermarket rims with 4 tires from a local tire dealer in March 2018. I had a slow leak in one tire and it was diagnosed as a cracked rim. That was approx two weeks ago. Last Saturday night I had another tire go soft. Another rim cracked. The dealer I purchased the rims from has put two new rims (same manufacterer) I went on the facebook page for this compnay and I see several complaints from other consumers regarding cracked and partially seperated spokes from this manufacterer. I have pictures and video of the failure, I believe an investigation is warranted because there is a potential for a complete failure of the wheel which could cause an acciedent and or injury and death. The manufacturer is touren wheels 866-894-3351 1050 n. Vineyard Ave ontario,CA 91764.
1) when making a sharp turn at low speeds there is a hard knocking sound in the front end. 2). The climate control turns on and off intermittently. Unsafe on cold days when temperature is below 30 degrees. Vice versa in the summer when temp is above 90 degrees.
1. When taking a sharp turn, the front bucks and makes a hard knocking noise. 2. The climate control turns on and off intermittently. Is terrible in really cold weather. No heat for and extended period of time. Vise versa in the hot summer.
The vehicle was in motion. I was headed south down a city street came up to my right turn onto another city street. After I made the turn when I tried to straighten the wheel out the right one cut straight to the right I was fighting the steering wheel but it would not let me turn it. This caused my car to turn into a parked car that was on a parking lot for sale and it ended up damaging 3 cars plus mine total. I did not receive a ticket because the officer stated that it was a malfunction on the car's steering. I just know that something caused the tire to turn and I could not turn it back. I don't want this to happen to anyone else cause it was scary scary. Thank you,.
"takata recall" while driving my car this has happen twice driving making a turn left and all of a sudden the whell on the passenger just sticks for 10 second couldn't turn just had to wait until it could turn. This is scary. A car was coming and it could have hit me both times. In motion on a city street turning.
Tire leaking from a pin hole in the metal wheels interior. Leak found while having tires rotated.

Pulling into a parking spot at a store my 2014 Ford Taurus surged ahead. The car went across the parking stop and crashed into the front of the store. The front of the car was damaged and the front of the store was damaged. The weather was dry and about 70 degrees. I was going less than 5 mph at the time the car surged ahead. It was as if I had stomped on the gas but I had my foot on the brake. This vehicle has less than 10,000 miles on it. I assume it was some sort of problem with the throttle system. This happened in league city texas and the police department case number is 16-1961. I had the vehicle towed to mcree Ford in dickenson texas for repairs.
I purchased a 2015 Ford Taurus in July of 2015 brand new only 3 mile on the vehicle. I notice that after the first oil change and tire rotation I noticed something different about the front passenger side wheel. On the second maintenance visit I advise the intake person that the front passenger wheel sound like something was loss. After the service I was given the paperwork that stated every thing was fine. Well on 3/14/2016 while driving down the smoothly paved busy street the steering wheel began to shake followed by a loud thump and next thing you know the car had flipped across three lanes and landed up side down. I called Ford dealership I purchase the car from and was told by one of the salesmen after telling him what happen that, "that was a defect" and I need to get a lawyer. All I want is the someone from Ford motor the inspect the car. The crazy part is the axle, bracket, and suspension are covered under my power train warranty but because my car flipped I was told I had to file a claim with my insurance even though the the front axle, bracket and wheel broke off the car causing it to flip. The metal frame even broke, everything was still attacked to front passenger wheel that broke off and the car was just driving down the street no bumps or anything. Now if my so would have died and was severely injured I guess then Ford motor would issue a recall like they did for the 2013 & 2014 Ford Taurus with axle and bracket defects.

The rim to my 2010 was bent for the secont time in the last four months. The first time I had to go to the dealer and get a new rim which was $860. The first time my wife was driving on a michigan road and tire lost pressure. When she stopped she noticed a leak and the rim was bent. She must have hit a pot hole but there was no noticable jaring of the vehicle. The second time was just this past weekend. I was driving down the highway and there was a small chunck of concrete that I could not avoid. It was nothing that was huge but bigger than a normal rock and big enought to notice while approaching it at 70 mph. When I hit this concrete the tire pressure sensor instantly when off. I pulled over and noticed that the rim was bent again. There is no reason that two rims should have bent from normal dirving conditions. My car is currently in the shop getting new rims and tires and I have had the car less than a year. I wanted to let other drivers know about this issue so they are not in the same boat as me.

Was driving my car when all the sudden it accelerated up to 40+mph with our me even touching pedal. . . I attempted to hit brakes but it kept going and slammed into curb on passenger side. . No body damage was done but I destroyed both rims, tires are flat and wheels are bent which I'm assuming is the alignment and suspension. . . I just bought/financed this car from a used lot on 10-18-2014 and now owe for a car that's pretty much totaled. . . However I did notify them that night (5 hrs after purchase) that the car was revving high and accelerating and hard to stop. I also took video of this. . . But I had to work all week and didn't have time to go in and complain about issue. . Then on Friday October 24th after I got off work and was almost home. . The car sped up and I couldn't stop it had to hit curb in order to stop car from driving me through an intersection and into a concrete wall. And now the car is parked in my complex, and can't be driven. . . . I'm just extremely thankfull that my wife and newborn were not with me this time. .

While driving my front passenger side dropped & my tire exploded. It was discovered that the coil spring failed which torn the inside of my tire almost completely off. I know this has happened to other Ford Taurus however was told by Ford my VIN number was not included in the recall so they would not be checking into the issue. This happened without warning & had I been going faster, been in heavy traffic or on bad road conditions this would have been worse. I'm not asking for them to pay for it. Just include more vehicles in the recall to prevent fatalities.

As I was traveling the rear spring snapped and started to gouge into the tire and cut the tire on the top corner sidewall where the steel belts are now showing also heated up so fast that I was not able to take off the lug nuts of the tire to see what was wrong. This is a common problem according to multiple Ford dealership service advisors and it could be fatal if the tire explodes. Ford claims there is not enough complaints to order a recall for a potential fatal flaw in the car.

Son was backing car down driveway and heard a noise and felt front end sag. He got out and noticed that the drivers front tire was flat. Tire was a year old and cut on inside of sidewall. Took tire off and had it replaced at my cost. When trying to put it back on the car I noticed the broken spring. This is what caused the tire to blow. Very sharp edge on spring facing tire. Glad it did not happen at highway speeds or in tight area so as to avoid injury or accident. Very inconvenient and an obvious metal fatigue issue. Rust not noticeable. Bought this car used from a dealer and I wish they had corrected this ongoing problem before selling the car again. Looks like I will have to look at other manufacturers as this is the second major expense on a Ford for problems they knew about but did nothing to correct or to help compensate customers for their expense or inconvenience. .

While driving, the wheel fell off the vehicle and the vehicle swerved. This occurred at a low speed (10mph) upon more closely inspecting the vehicle, it appears that the axle was broken off of the vehicle. I have a photo of the broken piece of the vehicle, as well as photos of the broken situation of the vehicle. This car was rented through budget rental car agency, and I do not know if responsibility also lies with the rental car company as well.
Tl-the contact owns a 2002 Ford Taurus. The contact stated that while driving 10 mph, smoke emerged from the front passenger side tire as the contact noticed the coil spring was fractured. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 91,000. Kmj.
Purchased 2013 Ford Taurus limited new from dealer. A month after purchase, noticed terrible vibration in vehicle at highway speeds. Dealership tried to blame it on bad tires, which they replaced. Didn't solve the problem. Spoke to Ford cuts service with no resolution. Drove 2 other used Taurus' with similar results.
Driving in a neighborhood at 30mph, while going up a steep hill car suddenly accelerated, attempt to brake was unsuccessful, put in neutral and shut off ignition causing car to go back down hill into a building.
The front driver's side coil broke. When it broke, it ruined my tire.
My son proceeded to back out of driveway and the strut coil spring broke puncturing the tire.
Front drivers side spring broke & punctured tire. I am a single mother of three boys (9,5 & 6months) and had drove home on the highway going 65mph with all my boys in the car. I parked my car at home & went out later to retrieve some paperwork from my vehicle only to find out I had a flat tire. When the tire was removed to see what was wrong with it & hopefully just having the tire repaired, that is when we noticed that the spring had broke while the car was parked & punctured the tire. As you can imagine I was in shock, but was thankful that it had not happened while driving on the highway at 65mph shredding my tire & possibly causing a fatal accident. I have since researched on the internet only to find out that this has been an ongoing problem with a number of complaints that has been investigated and has still had no recall ! is it a matter of a certain number of deaths to occur before something is done ? it is a blessing that this has not happened yet & you would think that Ford would want to keep in mind the safety of the people who buy their cars, by having a recall on the defective springs before someone is killed. There is no warning when this happens & I feel that it is unacceptable for Ford to play with the lives of the people who buy their vehicles. I can tell you that this is a great financial set back for me & my 3 children & will think twice before ever buying a Ford vehicle again knowing that the outcome could have been unforgivable. You can replace a defective part, but you cannot replace a life. . . . . . !.
Left front spring broke and punctured the tire and a link.
Rim (wheel) ripped apart with the lug nuts and center of rim still attached to car / rotor: my son was traveling at approx. 70 mph on the highway when the front right passenger wheel started to shake. Before he could step on the brake the tire and most of the rim was detached from the car causing excessive damage to the front end. From the center lane, the car went skidding out of control to the side of the highway barely missing a large pole and eventually coming to a stop. The mechanic on the scene had never seen anything like this in his long career of mechanics. He told my son that he was very lucky he was on even pavement because the car could have easily flipped causing major injury and probably death. Hood or driver side door won't open. Brakes are not functional. Frame, rotor and lower suspension are damaged. It is presumed that the cost to repair will be more than the car is worth (total loss). I found that another incident just like this was reported to NHTSA on July 27, 2001, VIN-[xxx], so this isn't just a one time occurrence. I felt compelled to report this because I feel that many more are at risk and that this has happened to others who didn't know to report it. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
The car has a recall on lights seat buckle and stud.

When I was turning a corner my car started to shimmy like it had a flat tire I got out to check only to find there isnt a flat tire and that my rackand pinion is gone bad on the passenger side of my car I just replaced the same part on the other side a year ago everytime the alignment goes out the rack and pinion goes bad!.
For the past 2-3 year, when attempting to turn the steering wheel left or right, vehicle looses power steering. Took the car into Ford dealership, while under warranty, and was repeatedly told by service tech, mechanic did not notice a problem. Vehicle shudders when backing up and struggles to shift gears when accelerating on highway. Abs brake system kicks in for no apparent reason when driving. Grinding noise coming from rear wheel on drivers side when driving the vehicle. Took car to mechanic and was told no power steering, need ball bearing replacement and need new/ rebuilt transmission. Completely disgusted as the car is only 7 years old. Why cant similarly situated owners of the Ford Taurus-x seem to get the NHTSA to take any real action on our behalf? I'm confused. Please help!!!.

Happened while the vehicle was parked in garage; heard a loud sound and suspected the coil spring suspension, since I knew about this problem from previous owner complaints from this website. Left coil spring broke and tore a big gash on tire and went flat. Called Ford dealer in dearborn, mi and they told it was covered as a recall; towed my car out there and they changed their story and told this VIN was not covered and 2001 model year was. What a joke. Promptly, I towed it out of there (did not want to give them anymore business) and got it replaced outside. Cant believe Ford does not want to acknowledge this problem even though it is a extremely dangerous situation especially while driving at high speeds and can happen to any of the coils. Very bad quality steel used in coil spring and problem seems to be prevalent in salt-belt states. Even the tow-truck driver was casual about it saying he is seeing it too often (especially with cars with high miles). Ford has lost a possible future customer and switching over to a quality oem from now on. Bye bye Ford.
My 2011 Taurus sho has 20 inch rims and an all-wheel drive system, but only after 20,000 I have to change my tires because they wear off in the inside corners on all four tires. It is like if the wheels are slightly slanted andthey wear off only on that area. Ford has knowledge of this situation and have made me take the car for alignment, tire pressure and tire rotation every 3,000 miles, but this has not helped at all. The car has had 4 set of tires in the last 54,000 and they insist it is not caused because of car deffects. If I am not constantly checking the tires because I fear that I am going to get aflat or could explode in the middle of the highway and cause an accident. Pelase help me. I have tried everything possible with them and I am in the process of filing a complaint against them, but anything that you can do will be deeply appreciated.
The car has problems with rear caster alignment. According to Ford and others there is no alignment for rear caster. I started noticing problems at approximately 15k miles. After taking it to an alignment shop with no fix I took it to a Ford dealer. They convinced me it would only be minor wear on the rear tires. I am now on my 3rd set of tires at 49k and after taking it to more alignment shops and a frame shop. The local Ford dealer and Ford said I had sagging springs (I was not convinced). They replaced and said it was fixed. I told them I would have it double checked. Guess what it still is out of alignment with the same readings I originally took it in for.
Heard a loud bang while driving a 2002 Ford Taurus. Car leapt to the left and I heard loud screeching. I braked and slowed, and when stopped I discovered a flat left front tire. When I removed the tire to put on a spare, the tire was stuck on something in the back. After turning it to view - I saw that the coil spring was running right through the tire! apparently, the coil spring had snapped and immediately punctured the tire. Car was towed to a shop and lots of repairs ($$$) were needed. I called Ford, and they said there was no recall on the 2002 model, only on 1999-2001 (same widespread problem). After looking online, I see many, many people have written about this same issue on the 2002 Taurus - but Ford refuses to extend their recall to that year's model. This was a serious issue while driving - I can only imagine what would disaster might have occurred if I was on the highway when it happened!!.
