1. The 2019 Transit Connect wagon transmission would buck or jerk when removing my foot from the accelerator when going 60 mph or more. The brake was not press at the time of the jerk. 2. When entering the Ford service center for the transmission check appointment, the left front brake seized. There was an odor of burning brake pads. 3. After the brake module was replaced and the service center took it for a test drive of the transmission, the technician told me the lighting module needed to be replaced and the vehicle continued to stay at the service center. 4. While still at the service center, they connected the vehicle for a computer reboot/refresh that would take over night. The next morning they informed me that the reboot did not take in the vehicle computer system. 5. The service center called in a regional Ford technician three times to try to solve the issues without success. 6. We never had possession of the vehicle during this time. It continues to be in possession of the service center and to our knowledge is not repaired. 7. The "service engine" red light never came up on the instrument panel when the incident happened.
1. The heat shielding around the exhaust system failed to protect the fuel tank from exhaust heat. Heat from the exhaust system melted holes in the fuel tank, causing fuel to leak from the tank. The parts are at the Ford dealer with the vehicle. 2. The fuel tank developed leaks when it melted, causing a risk of fire or explosion. 3. The dealer confirmed that the fuel tank melted and leaked due to heat from the exhaust system. In diagnosing the issue, they refilled the fuel tank and it continued to leak. 4. To my knowledge, the vehicle or components have not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives, or others. My insurance chose not to be involved since it does not fall under "comprehensive" coverage, as there was no theft, vandalism, storm, or animal damage. 5. The vehicle waring lamps did not indicate the melting of the fuel tank or the leak. I was not aware that there was damage to the fuel tank or a fuel leak at the time. The vehicle simply ceased to run and would not start. I was towed to a Ford dealership. A week later the dealership called to inform me that they had added fuel to the tank to diagnose the starting issue, but were still unable to start, and wanted to replace the fuel pump. I explained that the tank had been filled only about 80 miles before, so there was some issue. Another week later, the dealer informed me that when replacing the fuel pump they had found that the tank had been melted. This was when I was first aware of the issue with the fuel tank.

Rear view camera is no longer functioning properly.
The backup camera has failed at 50,000 miles. The backup camera no longer functions.
My passenger seat occupancy sensor failed. Caused my airbag system to throw a code and become inoperative and srs light on. Took to middleton Ford in middleton, WI and they confirmed the code indicated the OCS sensor has failed and required replacing to make the airbag system operable again. Meaning if I got into an accident, no airbags would deploy while the defective OCS sensor is in place. My insurance refused to inspect or cover the sensor as the failure wasn't related to an accident. Middleton Ford refused to cover the replacement cost regardless of cause of failure and said I must pay for the repair as my van was out of warranty. The sensor was replaced on 08/22/22 and see attached pics to prove the sensor had no visual issues and the cause of said failure is a manufacturer defect. Consumers should never have to pay for a defective part that failed due to no fault of their own.
My srs system has thrown the srs light with code b00c0:11ab passenger occupancy sensor a short to ground. According to the weight pad is faulty and requires a $989 part replacement. The srs system is disabled with the light on which is a safety issue in today's vehicles as none of the airbags will deploy in an accident with the srs light currently on. No consumer related malfunction detected meaning there were no broken wires found nor evidence of a consumer triggered fault found such as wet or previously wet pad which could have caused the fault. It is an internal part failure.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Transit Connect. The contact stated while an employee was driving 55 mph, the vehicle decelerated unintendedly. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic however, the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. The contact stated on July 14, 2023, while the same employee was driving the vehicle and was releasing the brake pedal, the vehicle started losing motive power and slowed unintendedly. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The employee continued driving to the independent mechanic and was informed that the brake rotors, brake pads, and the front driver’s side and the rear passenger’s side calipers needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, the mechanic then stated that the hydraulic control unit (hcu) pump was faulty. Upon investigation, the mechanic associated the failure with NHTSA campaign number: 16v482000 (service brakes, hydraulic, electrical system) however, the VIN was not included. The vehicle was not drivable. The contact towed the vehicle to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing the hydraulic control unit (hcu) pump to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.
While driving, the speedometer dropped to zero, the car milage displayed as ------, the abs light turned on, the traction control light turned on, and there was a warning that the hill assist was unavailable. I was driving with 4 children in the vehicle and was unable to discern if it was an actual safety issue or an electronic malfunction. We suspect a wheel speed sensor on one of the four tires has failed since an internet search shows this is the likely culprit but it hasn't yet been confirmed.
After battery replacement, the power steering (the epas system) failed. The dashboard-gauges display said, "steering assist fault service required. " after towing and diagnosis, my mechanic said the system had to be reprogramed at a dealership. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request.
The muffler split open most likely from a clog. Because of that, the exhaust was directed toward the floor of the truck instead of going out of the muffler. As a result, it burnt through the heat shield, the back of the truck, melted the wiring harness, and burned a hole straight through the fuel tank. A mechanic took out the fuel tank and when it was being dropped out fuel spilled everywhere and there was a hole in the side of the tank. Since the wiring harness was melted, there was no power and no fuel pump power. The safety of the driver was put at risk because the car could have easily started on fire, or the fuel tank could have blown up and injured the driver or worse.
6-2021: crackling sound on radio, whether on or off. 2 types: like bare wires rubbed together, or connecting/disconnecting speaker. ·crackling persists after vehicle shut off. Eventually stops. 12-2021: ·radio quit working, crackling sound continued, appears random. ·observed lights on @ distance. Then off. Vehicle was parked overnight, inactive. 2-2022: ·2-year-old battery died. Dead again in a few days. (parasitic drain) mechanic said it needed new radio. New radio was > $600. 00, required reconfiguration of dashboard. ·lost many, not all functions, of sync system, & it goes to sleep after a few minutes. Backup camera doesn’t work if sync system is asleep. Sometimes revived after pushing sync button on steering column. ·auto electrical mechanic said still a drain on electrical system, but not like before. Rebuilt alternator & refurbished the fuse box too. Said electrical drain was from information control module on dashboard. Said take vehicle to Ford, have them reprogram the module where display screen is located & the drain occurring while vehicle is parked, would stop. ·Ford technician said they had “no updates” on information control module. Took care of recall & transmission issues, returned the vehicle. Oparasitic drain & dead battery continued. 3-2022: ·battery tests as good but dies in 2 days. Engine quit if jumper cables were removed. Then died before they were removed. Appeared dead, no start even though connected to a good battery via jumper cables. ·asked dealer to reprogram information control module. ·they gave it back, saying, “it’s acceptable”. Othey disconnected an “aftermarket” module. Went from 64 milliamps to 42 milliamps. Drove 90 minutes & parked. 29 hours later battery died. Dlr. Said turn off/disconnect everything before shutting off vehicle: no automatic lights, heater, phone charger, etc. Apparently this is a body control module (bcm) problem. Not “information control module” problem.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Transit Connect. The contact stated that while initially starting the vehicle and while driving at various speeds, the main computer screen displayed the “hill stop assist not available" and "parking assist not available" messages. The check engine and abs warning lights were illuminated. The speedometer, power steering, and several other unknown messages were displayed intermittently. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was taken to the dealer after the original failure and was diagnosed and determined that the front passenger’s side wheel position sensor had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic after the second failure, and it was determined that the same front passenger’s and driver’s side wheel position sensors had failed and needed to be replaced. The contact was informed that the steering wheel position sensor had failed and needed to be replaced also. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had not been made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000.
This entire vehicle is a problem, including my backup camera needing to be replaced 2x since oct. My work van does not have a rearview mirror or window so its crucial I'm a sole proprietor business owner and my only business vehicle (2019 Ford Transit Connect) has been in the shop a total of over 10 weeks in the last 10 months. I have had numerous problems with my vehicle including my back up camera not working (which is very important since I don't have a rear view mirror or back windows), Ford pass not working, ac blowing heat, transmission problems, check engine light on, vehicle stalling, and emissions problem. So far in 2022, it has spent over 3 weeks in the shop and is currently in the shop. I have had 3 different computer modules, egr valve, torque converter, and backup camera replaced and I was just told today it needs another back-up camera and the heater control module replaced. I bought my vehicle brand new from village Ford (now gary yeoman) in 2019 and it currently has 38,000 miles on it. The regular warranty ended at 36k miles, but Ford corporate purchased me an extended warranty covering my vehicle to 75k miles due to the vehicle spending an entire month in the shop Nov 2021. I have called and emailed Ford corporate multiple times including talking to very unhelpful supervisor. I clearly have a bad vehicle and it is a huge inconvenience and is adversely affecting my business. I have asked for Ford to buy my vehicle from me and told there is nothing they can do. As a consumer I am made to feel like all these problems are somehow my fault, when I have done nothing wrong except unknowingly bought a lemon vehicle and because I haven't had the exact same problem 3x, it doesn't qualify for the FL lemon law. There should be some provision for a vehicle with 8+ problems and that has spent 11 weeks in the shop in 10 months. This is a wrapped work vehicle that advertises my business. Guess how many business cards I passed out during those 11 weeks? zero.
Driver side front and side door . These don't lock and the windows don't work but the passenger side does. Just stopped working last week and the small fuses are all fine. Vehicle was stationary. Not sure if this is a recall matter or not.

Dash board lights and all meters inoperative. Instrument cluster inoperative. Multifunctional display inoperative. Chimes, warning lights and messages out. Intermittent and all function come back after several minutes of driving.
Upon starting the vehicle, the dashboard does not provide information, power brakes do not seem to function, power steering quits and several items show up on dash. Upon cutting car off and restarting, they may all be corrected. The next time car is started, it may or may not recur. This has happened about six times recently as late as today. Our fear is we will lose control of the car while driving at highway speeds. It seems many functions are controlled by computers that have a flaw. Brakes also lose power.
Transmission converter and Ford refuses to honor the repair. It does not show on their computer yet the rpm needle goes up and down on stealth mode. The wiper hose keeps coming off. The back up camera kept going black. The ac went out at less than 40,000 miles. The software will not update. The eco system would not work properly. The passenger bag is not detected.
My Ford Transit Connect rear lift-gate would not open. Stationary. All door locks worked with the key fob except the rear lift-gate. The lift-gate would not work with the interior door lock electric switches. I was unable to open the lift-gate in any manner. The lift-gate does not have a lock operated by a key, just an electronic switch. I checked the 10amp fuse for the rear lift-gate lock and it was defective. I replaced the fuse and the door worked for about a week before breaking again. I replaced the 10 amp fuse 4 more times, each time immediately blowing the fuse. After reading 2 similar online issues about this, my operational theory was that the electrical wires powering the rear lift-gate switch were "shorting out". The most likely place was the area where the wires passed from the car body to the rear lift-gate. However, since I was unable to open the lift-gate, I was not able to access the wires. I took the Transit Connect to the closest Ford service facility, and they fixed the problem. The service person removed the protective rubber sleeve covering the wires exiting from the right side of the transit chassis to the right side of the lift-gate. One could easily see a number of black wires with insulation missing and exposed copper wire. The wires were contacting each other and/or the metal where the wires exit the chassis. I do not know what the other wires operate, but the rearview camera had been intermittently malfunctioning for months. (car in motion, backing up) I feel this to be a dangerous situation, for the shorting wires are in the approximate vicinity of the gas fill spout inside the chassis. Gas vapors could ignite. This is potentially a dangerous situation.
Loud noise w/vibration and foul odor coming from heater blower. Dealership discovered a rodent's nest in the climate control blower motor. Dealership indicated that there is no remedy to prevent recurrence. Dealership also mentioned that the Ford escape has a history of the same problem. See Ford's TSB 17-0034, published 3/21/17 re Ford's recommended prevention: ". . . Install the new inlet duct gasket with screen. . . " (emphasis added).

The contact owns a 2016 Ford Transit Connect. The contact stated that cracks had formed in both taillights which lead to water accumulation inside the taillight housing. The vehicle was taken to a dealer and the contact was informed that moisture had leaked into the taillight wiring harness and both taillight sensors and sensor harnesses need to be replaced. In addition, the taillight wiring had begun to hang from the rear of the vehicle, causing the exhaust pipe to melt the wiring harness. The dealer informed the contact that the taillight sensor could not be repaired due to the part being on backorder. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 55,000.
1. Stationary or in motion: the top of the front windshield seems to be losing its seal because when water is poured or when it rains, it enters the car and falls onto the dashboard. Also, the plastic box that stores the rear view window and which is attached to the windshield gets filled with rain and drips down the window. 2. In motion, on a gradual hill and from day one, the car would not shift up on a downhill, even a slight hill. It revs in the 2nd gear and rev until it would jump into third after revving in a lower gear for 2-4 minutes. I took it to 2 dealerships (one in tacoma, wa, and the other in marina Ford) and they said they couldn't repeat the problem even though I had plenty of video of it. 3. Stationary or in motion: lcd screen sometimes stops responding for no particular reason. You have to turn car off and on again to get a response.
I can not seem to get my reduced guard function as shown in internal memo ssm48081 and in my factory Ford owners manuel set up by any Ford dealership I have been to. Last night at dinner it set off 5 times with my dog inside. Was told by one dealership to just not lock the doors.
Has been blowing the backup camera 5 amp fuse, intermittently for the past few months. Last few days the hill assist light and the abs light come on also the power steering goes away not a good thing, when I shut the ignition off then back on again most of the time the lights go off and the steering is back, I bought this vehicle new , it was never in an accident . The only repair was done by the local dealer they replaced the fuel pump and sending unit that was a recall. . Also the sliding door locks that were a recall . I found wires going to the lift gate have had the insulation skinned off because they rub on the inner body panel hole. . As you can see in the pictures I used liquid electrical tape on the wires and put plastic split wire loom tubing over the wires. Also took white rubber tube and split it and put it on the inner panel opening that caused the wire insulation to get rubbed off. This Ford Transit Connect van has 32,000 miles. . . . I thought fixing these wires would cure the problem , after going for a couple rides and lifting the tailgate it still blows the fuse. And the other lights still come on. Obviously the skinned wires I repaired were a problem , there apparently is another issue or two.
Tl the contact owns a 2015 Ford Transit Connect. While driving approximately 70 mph, it began to rain and the air conditioning did not work. The sensor that read the temperature indicated minus 4 and all the windows fogged up. The contact pulled the vehicle over to the side of the road, rolled down all the windows, and waited until the rain stopped. The contact stated that the failure occurred at least twenty times. The dealer and manufacturer were not notified. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000.

While pulling out of a fast food drive through steering jerked to center and I lost power steering to the point where I could barely keep control of the vehicle, mechanic informed me the powering steering motor seemed overheated because of its location and I could expect this to happen again, on the dash I got a "steering fault" code. Second issue unrelated is that the temp sensor keeps malfunctioning, once the senor reaches below the freezing point on the dash ( keep in mind its 74f outside) the vehicle shuts down the air conditioning unit blowing hot air until the whole system resets and the dash reads the actual exterior temp. New Ford temp sensor installed worked fine for two weeks then same issue. Its frustrating when we reach 80+ degrees and the air conditioning is intermittent because of a senor issue which is totally unrelated to the unit itself. Two other friends of mine own the same year vehicle and are having the same issues. Love my Ford but they should own up to they're problems.
The door latch is malfunctioning causing the electronics not to turn off when the car is off and passengers leave the vehicle. Same issues as the recall on the 2016 Transit Connect.
Electronics problems: console display works on a delay, when unlocking the car with remote key all 4 windows will roll down, lights do not shut off when car is locked. Car has tow package and should be included in 2015-2017 Ford transit recall from 5/2018.
Tl the contact owns a 2015 Ford Transit Connect. The contact stated that there were several electrical failures in the vehicle. Various warning indicators flashed, the windows failed to go up and down, and the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was serviced by more than four dealers, but the failures still occurred. The first dealer was lasco Ford (2525 owen rd, fenton, mi 48430, (888) 486-1708). The second dealer was crest Ford (26333 van dyke Ave, center line, mi 48015, (888) 614-2160). The third dealer was elder Ford (777 john r rd, troy, mi 48083, (888) 467-5023). The fourth dealer was suburban Ford of sterling heights (40333 van dyke Ave, sterling heights, mi 48313, (586) 268-7500). A fifth dealer (dean sellers Ford, 2600 w maple rd, troy, mi 48084, (888) 418-7132) refused to service the vehicle. A sixth dealer (royal oak Ford, 27550 woodward Ave, royal oak, mi 48067, (248) 548-4100) serviced the electrical failures and brake system. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The VIN and failure mileage were not available.
Possible bcm issue. The battery drains with the bcm fuse installed. The fuse pulled stops the battery drain issue. The batter was replaced and same issue occurs. Battery drain occurs overnight. Second issue. The transmission shifts rough between first and second gear, and bumps at highway speeds when accelerating. Have taken the vehicle to the dealer five times. Transmission overhauled, but issue continues. Have gotten transmission failure warning sign.
Tl the contact owns a 2010 Ford Transit Connect. While the vehicle was stationary, the driver's door would not open. As a result, the contact had to climb over the emergency brake and exit through the passenger door. The contact, an independent mechanic, stated that the generic electronic module that controlled all of the locking mechanisms in the vehicle failed to lock and unlock on more than one occasion while inside or outside of the vehicle. Furthermore, both of the rear sliding doors experienced intermittent failures. A dealer was not made aware of the failures. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failures. The failure mileage was 116,000.
