36 Electrical System problem of the 2011 Ford Transit Connect

Failure Date: 07/02/2018

Purchased this vehicle about a week ago and did a basic tuneup, oil change and spark plugs. I ordered a after market filter from k&n and had to wait a week before it arrived. Air filter was not replaced yet but hoping it would help with accelerating. The a/c worked well as long as the vehicle was driving but stopped blowing cold air during idle. A few days later my transit got real hot at a stop light so I pulled over and checked for any leaks or coolant lose in the reservoir. . . All was well and I saw the electric fans spinning. Car got hot again and checked online for a solution and saw many complaints about the high speed fuse being blown. Checked and that was the issue, replaced the fuse and high speed worked again. Checked for recalls because this was a common complaint and saw that there was recalls on some but not all vins qualify???? also saw complaints about idleling and poor acceleration. . . Installed k&n air filter, cleaned throttle body and the problems still persist. Everything else works great.

37 Electrical System problem of the 2014 Ford Transit Connect

Failure Date: 02/16/2018

The rear window wiper was blowing its fuses randomly. Also noticed the tail lights and cargo dome light blinking off and back on as the liftgate was raised or lowered. I removed the vehicle end of the passenger side corrugated rubber wireway from the body and discovered the wire harness severely abraded where it crossed thru the opening in the body. About three quarters of an inch of the harness wrapping and wire coverings on three wires were scraped away exposing bare copper wires which were shorting out to the body as the liftgate was opened or closed. The stamped hole in the metal body has a sharp, ragged inner edge. The same situation exists on the drivers side but owing to the wire harness being smaller and having more slack on that side, the abrasion has only removed the harness covering so far. Having diagnosed the problem from observing the faulty wiper and tail light symptoms, I have repaired the wire harness, lined the rough metal holes with flexible plastic grommet strips and restored functionally before anymore trouble occurred. I feel this could be more serious for others unaware of their pending failure. I've no doubt this condition exists in other Transit Connects.

38 Electrical System problem of the 2016 Ford Transit Connect

Failure Date: 02/15/2018

Just got this vehicle, was purchased as used but with warranty still as it only had 16500 miles. After driving for few weeks I had the following problems. #1 fuel economy on vehicle is 15 miles per gallon (on a 4 cylinder engine?). Previously taken to dealer where they replaced a recall part (throttle body) as it was doing only 13 miles to the gallon. Dealer states that is working normal???? #2 after driving for 4 hours or more (city or highway) hot air comes out of air vents even when outside temp is 40 degrees fe. ( and temp is set to low on cluster). 20 degrees deference is not ok (maybe in winter but not in summer). Dealer was able to replicate the problem and call Ford engineers, to which they said that it is normal. Dealer was able to replicate the same issue on 3 similar vehicles but still Ford states that it is normal??? hot air coming out of vents at 70 degrees when it is 55 degrees outside is not normal.

Sensors and rearview camera start going off for no reason when in motion on a city street or highway. This has happened several times most recent is 10/18/2016. Note if vehicle is put into park. And you wait 30 seconds it will stop. But starts up again, after 20 seconds.

44 Electrical System problem of the 2010 Ford Transit Connect

Failure Date: 04/14/2016

It was April 2016 when my car started running erratically (lose power, add power) and I instantly took it in. It was diagnosed with "rusty" plugs and coil; replaced for $845 and at 33,310 miles. Next time I drove it, rough, and high then low power. It "drove" itself, surging at a high rate of speed, then stalling. Very scary. The dealer's diagnosis? the windshield washer nozzle gaskets had not been installed, so they "leaked" downhill onto the engine. Apparently, Ford knew or came to know this was a problem with many tcs, but they chose not to inform buyers. The gaskets cost $69. 50. Without this knowledge and having improperly installed gaskets, I paid $845. 15 plus $971. 13. At 33,402 miles. Yes it ticks me off; I am a disabled senior and I need this car for my dogs and my disability scooter. Boo on Ford. And indeed, when I was pointed uphill parking in a parking lot, my car surged - headed straight for a car. Thank goodness I was headed uphill and was able to stop the vehicle . . . After having paid $845. 15 before realizing the problem was not fixed and adding the additional $971. 13 beginning the next day. (if anyone needs them I can take docs to store to scan and upload. ).

45 Electrical System problem of the 2011 Ford Transit Connect

Failure Date: 12/09/2015

Driving on the free way at 80 mph and car stalls. Check engine light and wrench light came on. Pulled to the side restarted car everything was normal again. A few days later started doing again and more often. I am afraid to ride my car it is a safety issue. I put a scanner on the car and "throttle stuck closed code came on". I will take it in to the dealer tomorrow. I believe it is a issue from the manufacturere.

46 Electrical System problem of the 2012 Ford Transit Connect

Failure Date: 05/01/2014

2012 Ford Transit Connect. Consumer writes in regards to misleading gas mileage, radio problems, vehicle locking itself with key in the ignition while engine running and several other issues. The consumer also stated the wipers were not clearly the snow and rain from the windshield. The wipers were coming off the windshields surface. The windshield wiper fluid was freezing and the amount of heat coming from the defroster wasn't enough to handle the freezing windshield, which caused the obstruction and loss of vision.

47 Electrical System problem of the 2012 Ford Transit Connect

Failure Date: 12/18/2013

On start up after it has been warm and then gotten cold vehcile check engine light comes on and ecu stores codes p2101,p2111 and p2135. Throttle body becomes disabled and vehcile will run poorly and not accelerate. Replaced with new Ford throttle body assembly part# 8s4z9e926b @ this time in December. Fixed problem and vehicle was running fine. Fix lasted until 2/17/14 and about 6000 miles and now have the same exact problem again with same codes. I see several complaints about escapes having this same problem. Is the throttle body a shared part? this problem could be very dangerous if it was to happen while out driving. Fortanatley for us it happened both times on cold start up.

48 Electrical System problem of the 2010 Ford Transit Connect

Failure Date: 12/02/2013

Vehicle cooling fan inoperative, due to blowing fuses. Found resistor and harness burnt. Replaced cooling fan assembly and it happened again.

49 Electrical System problem of the 2010 Ford Transit Connect

Failure Date: 01/25/2012

After the vehicle sat for an unknown period of time, attempts to re-start the vehicle failed due to the apparent loss of programming in the pcm modules. Ford has recognized this issue by apparently a TSB, per the dealer, that the vehicle must be started every 15 days or this may happen. At no time was this issue relayed on any level to the end-user of the vehicle, yet, Ford expects the end-user of the vehicle to absorb the cost of re-programming. I feel strongly that as this is a recognized issue that upon the first trouble call should be compensated by Ford. Furthermore I feel that Ford should be informing the consumer of this issue. Tt.

50 Electrical System problem of the 2017 Ford Transit Connect

Failure Date: 04/08/1967
