37 Power Train problem of the 2019 Ford Transit Connect

Failure Date: 07/01/2022

We have had to purchase and replace the transmission in our 2019 Transit Connect. The shifter began experiencing issues with moving into the intended gear and eventually caused the transmission needing replacement. I am aware of NHTSA safety recall 22v413, however, the recall makes no reference of the transmission itself needing to be replaced. We are seeking compensation for replacement of a new transmission for a vehicle that is 38 months old as well as bring this issue to NHTSA to possibly further the current safety recall.

38 Power Train problem of the 2013 Ford Transit Connect

Failure Date: 07/01/2022

Transmission. I was driving down the road in my Ford transit going 65 miles an hour I I started to have major transmission problems from traffic slow down so I slow down with it down to 30 miles an hour after doing so traffic sped back up and I could not get out of third gear when I realized how fast I was going in third gear and it would not shift, I tried to slow down and then re-accelerate to see if it would shift when it shifted in the fourth gear it never left fourth gear and revs back to 8000 rpms at that point the check engine light came on with the gear light in with the transmission light and I lost all power and I could only drive in second gear so I drove in second gear to the shop. Problem with transmission confirmed by independent shop.

43 Power Train problem of the 2020 Ford Transit Connect

Failure Date: 02/10/2022

Transmission failed with only 17,000 miles (mostly highway) on the car. The car did not move forward from a parked location. It only moved in reverse. It had to be towed to the nearest dealership and when they examined it, it did not move in reverse either. Even though it is under warranty, the dealers are taking a long time to repair the car.

44 Power Train problem of the 2010 Ford Transit Connect

Failure Date: 10/13/2021

When I put my tc in park at work this morning it rolled forward. I found it odd so put the vehicle in reverse, applied the brake, put it in park, released the brake, and it again rolled. I applied the parking brake, opened the door and put my left foot on the ground to try to roll it myself. Although I was satisfied it would stay put with the parking brake applied, I moved to a parking space at the outside edge of the lot with a slight down-grade and a curb, and parked with the rear tires against the curb and applied the brake. When I arrived at my desk I did an internet search about this new problem and came across information about a recall for this problem in Ford Transit Connects, however my year is not included. This worries me as I now have a known problem but cannot get it fixed under recall because owners in my vehicle's age group apparently have not experienced this or just figured it was too expensive to fix, or do not keep there vehicle as long as I have. Is there any way to remedy this? my husband and I bought this vehicle new in 2010 and have had very few problems with it, and to now have this major problem that is known with others is troubling. How many more are out there with this same problem?.

Failure Date: 05/12/2021

Vehicle failed to go into park when putting shift lever into the park position. Vehicle actually went into reverse instead even though the shift indicator showed the vehicle was in park. We could not shift the vehicle out of reverse. This was the result of a broken shift cable. This is the 2nd vehicle of the same model we have had this happen with. We will be reporting the other vehicle as well.

48 Power Train problem of the 2019 Ford Transit Connect

Failure Date: 04/12/2021

2019 Ford Transit Connect 2. 0l gdi i4 engine 8 spd auto transaxle, 83,000 miles. Transmission exhibiting difficulty shifting in lower gears. Van was working fine, then all at once the transmission stopped working at a stop light. Transmission acted like it was in park, I turned off key and turned back on and the van would drive again. When I pulled in front of my driveway the van would not go in reverse nor would it go forward again. I turned car off and back on and the van would drive forward, I took to dealer at that moment, dealer is 3 miles from my home. Ford dealer service end result is blown transmission with estimate to repair of over $8,000. 00. Vehicle problems are consistent with posted recalls on 2. 5l engine. Vehicle well maintained by Ford dealer service only, adult driven 1 driver only. Lots of people online complaining about similar problems. Transmission should last much more than 83,000 miles, known electronic problems although no recalls on record for this engine and transaxle combination. I drive my van very easy, my miles are mostly highway miles very little in town driving. Ford should honor known problems with this vehicle especially if the repairs are in excess of $8,000. 00! I do not feel this is fair of Ford, I requested a case to be started by Ford and I want to record the problem if for nothing else future recall notices for this obvious manufacture defect. I have no idea what to do now, the repairs cost more than the vehicle is worth although the car is not paid off, it now is undriveable and sitting at a dealership and I have no transportation, this was a "work" truck and now I can not work either.

49 Power Train problem of the 2019 Ford Transit Connect

Failure Date: 03/01/2021

This entire vehicle is a problem, including my backup camera needing to be replaced 2x since oct. My work van does not have a rearview mirror or window so its crucial I'm a sole proprietor business owner and my only business vehicle (2019 Ford Transit Connect) has been in the shop a total of over 10 weeks in the last 10 months. I have had numerous problems with my vehicle including my back up camera not working (which is very important since I don't have a rear view mirror or back windows), Ford pass not working, ac blowing heat, transmission problems, check engine light on, vehicle stalling, and emissions problem. So far in 2022, it has spent over 3 weeks in the shop and is currently in the shop. I have had 3 different computer modules, egr valve, torque converter, and backup camera replaced and I was just told today it needs another back-up camera and the heater control module replaced. I bought my vehicle brand new from village Ford (now gary yeoman) in 2019 and it currently has 38,000 miles on it. The regular warranty ended at 36k miles, but Ford corporate purchased me an extended warranty covering my vehicle to 75k miles due to the vehicle spending an entire month in the shop Nov 2021. I have called and emailed Ford corporate multiple times including talking to very unhelpful supervisor. I clearly have a bad vehicle and it is a huge inconvenience and is adversely affecting my business. I have asked for Ford to buy my vehicle from me and told there is nothing they can do. As a consumer I am made to feel like all these problems are somehow my fault, when I have done nothing wrong except unknowingly bought a lemon vehicle and because I haven't had the exact same problem 3x, it doesn't qualify for the FL lemon law. There should be some provision for a vehicle with 8+ problems and that has spent 11 weeks in the shop in 10 months. This is a wrapped work vehicle that advertises my business. Guess how many business cards I passed out during those 11 weeks? zero.

51 Power Train problem of the 2016 Ford Transit Connect

Failure Date: 02/11/2021

I stopped at the foot of my long driveway as I arrived home. I put the car in park and applied the parking brake and exited the vehicle to get my mail. When I returned to my car it would not shift into drive. The shift lever had become disconnected, and the shift lever bushing was gone. I found part of the bushing in the engine compartment. When researching the problem, I found information on the safety recall 18s20, covering the Ford fusion, with the same motor and transmission as the 2016 Ford Transit Connect I own. I feel very fortunate I was in a safe location when the bushing failed. I don't understand why the safety recall 18s20 does not cover my 2016 Ford Transit Connect. Picture of failed bushing attached.

60 Power Train problem of the 2016 Ford Transit Connect

Failure Date: 06/11/2020

On 6-11-2020, I attempted to put my 2016 Transit Connect into drive from park. I was at a fast food drive-thru. The gear shift lever stopped in reverse. We tried the emergency neutral reset and it would not work. The wrecker driver mentioned that a part under the hood might be responsible, namely a shifter bushing. He had seen this problem in fusions and focuses. He was able to manually replace the connection long enough for us to get the Transit Connect onto the wrecker. The dealership did diagnose the issue as a shifter bushing and repaired it on 6-12-2020. I researched the part number and discovered that a recall has been issued for that part number on 2013-2016 fusions and 2013-2014 escapes. I believe that the Transit Connect should be added to the recall since the part number used was the same.

Failure Date: 07/05/2019

While exiting traffic circle at slow speeds, transmission did not respond when accelerating out of the circle, and continued to be unresponsive after pulling to the side of the road. The road was a city thoroughfare with a 35 mph speed limit. Dealer said that signicant damage was discovered upon inspection, "probably due to a transmission overfill. " as the transmission had not previously been serviced, this was certainly a factory issue. The vehicle was not under warranty, and no compensation was offered.
