Four problems related to steering gear box have been reported for the 1998 Ford Windstar. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Nhtsa recall campaign 97v165000; Ford issued a steering gear recall. This vehicle was not included in the recall due to VIN, but had same gear steering problems as mentioned in the recall.
Consumer's vehicle experienced the same problems as mentioned in recall97v165000 concerning steering gear box failure. The dealership will not repair free of charge because the VIN was not included.

Received recall 97v165001 concerning steering gear. When turning steering wheel in right or left it was making a loud noise like vehicle was out of power steering fluid. But vehicle was completely full. Consumer took vehicle to dealer, and they stated other consumers were having the same problem.
