Sliding rear door drivers side opened own it's own while I was driving. Would not close, kept reopening, had to muscle closed. It has continued to happen frequently. I have seen many complaints on the year, model, for this issue. Why has there been no safety recall done? this is very dangerous. I have not taken for repairs, I have a very modest ss income and jut can not afford that. Car can be inspected at any time.
My 2000 Ford Windstar axle just broke had repair done when I got recall notice , vehicle was stored in my garage for the winter when we came back in the spring left rear tire was flat when Chrysler dealer fixed flat they noticed broken axle.
On Friday, June 23rd, the 2000 Ford Windstar was parked in the lot of meijers at 8650 west grand river Ave, brighton, mi 48116 for approximately a duration of 40 minutes. Upon returning to the vehicle, it was discovered that there was fire from inside my van that appeared. By standards contacted 911 and fire dept and police had responded. The fire was distinguished and reports were made out. The fire inspector indicated that it was an electrical short that was the accelerant ignition point. This is a very serious matter that presented a safety issue for my 9-year-old daughter and me. Ford motor company needs to take full responsibility for this incident. Please advise. Sincerely, scott c.
The aframe broke off the subframe.
Rear axle brakets-the braket was reinforced about 2yrs ago and for the 2nd time Ford is saying that maybe was reforced wrong, try make appoint. To confirm if they were done correctly or not and now nobody call back to make an appointm. Or when they can look into and if I want the work done I can $300 to replace it on top the letter was receive last week of sept. And due date to replace for that price is October 31st. Why not mail airlier when dealers always are so busy?, contact the 866 ph and they say mostly the letter was for to replace it for $300. I need somebody check first before make decisions, why am I have to pay without seen the car? in this website you don't show any recall, what's wrong with all of you people? please help.
Recall exist in rear axle. Letter of recall revived letter.
I was driving on city street after exiting hiway and my van felt like it hit the ground there was alot of noise. My daughter starts crying she was really scared . Later a friend said my axle broke in two. I called fotd company and ask them how & why would an axle break. Needless to say they couldnt help me. Altho there was a recall for the very same vehicle for the very same reason. Rear axle breaking. Im totally confused . Please help.
My wife, daughter and granddaughter were in the van and it started to swerve a little back and forth, but the wife didn't know why. They made it home and I looked at it and saw that the rear axle was almost completely broke in half. We're lucky that it didn't go out of control while they were driving.
Van stalled while driving, had to be towed. Mechanic could not communicate with computer. Van is having an electrical short which keeps blowing fuse #22 in which van can not be started or driven. Safety hazard, Ford must recall van.
I was driving down on 896, in the left hand lane, when my 2000 Ford Windstar lx van stopped running. I was going about 50mph when all of a sudden it just stopped. (I did have some transmission slipping previously but it had stopped. ) (I thought that it was because the van hadn't been driven for about 4 months). I immediately put my hazards on and called the delaware state police. If this had happened on the interstate, I would have been killed. As it was. It happened this morning while I was on my way to work. I had people come flying up behind my vehicle and blowing their horn at me. Thankfully it was not rush hour otherwise I would not be here right now, which means my children would be motherless!.
On July 14, 2015 while driving the vehicle the engine literally fell out of the car onto the roadway and unable to steer. Vehicle was towed to champion Lincoln Mercury in brockton MA on that day. There was a recall #11s16 on March 11, 2011 for the subframe lower control arm rear attaching flanges rear body mounts. Vehicle was inspected and passed on may 31, 2011. It has been 4 months and Ford refuses to supply the necessary parts to fix my vehicle. I've attached all recall notices, repairs, inspections and pictures as requested. We could have been killed or caused serious damage to someone else as a result of this defect in my vehicle. Even the dealership is appalled at the treatment received in this matter. I would appreciate any help you may be able to provide in resolving this issue.
While driving down the highway my van van stopped accelerating and acted like I was in neutral. Luckily I had no cars behind me because I would have been rear ended if there had. My transmission went out and was told I need a new one at 2400 dollars. I had no gears forward or reverse but the van would still run and turn on fine. Had to have it towed. As a parent of four kids who regularly are in this van I am disappointed that Ford has not recalled these for safety with all of these complaints. Will it take someone dying for them to do something? I can definitely say I will not be buying a Ford again since they can't stick by there motor and make things right!.
Corrected recall was not done effectively within two years of repaired recall beam axle failed at the end of the repaired area.
Abs system failure . Abs light remains on.
My van has had weird swaying issues when going very slowly or fast like highway speeds. Finally the other day, the axle broke. The rear one. That was recalled. They were so bad in these vehicles, Ford was buying them back and giving people rental cars until they were fixed. I was told they won't fix it at a dealership, then Ford said the same! they won't fix a part that is broken after having a known problem, so known that there was a huge recall and they were doing buybacks because of it? but they won't fix mine? I have to walk miles to the grocery store and miles to work. This shouldn't be my problem. My entire family was in the van when it broke. They all could have died! Ford doesn't care! they won't even fix a part that they know they screwed up on and were fixing! such crap.
Transmission started leeking fluids all over the road and started slipping to where I couldn't get home with it.
Door constantly opens and closes. Have experienced problems with door fully closing.
Airbag didn't deploy during a bumper to bumper accident.
Rear windshield wiper is not working. Mechanic states the rear wiper motor has water damage and must be replaced.
I was heading to the store as I do on a every day bases and going threw town I hit a small hole in the road and I heard a horn blow from behind me as I looked back I seen a big chink of my sliding door sitting in the road infront of the car . I noticed small rust on the under lining of the door as it happens with cars this age but I have never seen in my 30 od years a chunk brake loose almost causing a accident. This is not normal for any car/van/SUV to rust like this as im missing half the door on the one side of the van, I did replace it with a junk yard one but still.
I bought the 2000 Ford Windstar on 09/12/2012. It had 125,000 miles. After I bought it I immediately took it to the mechanic shop to have them check it over. They found that the outer and inner tie rod ends needed to be replaced. Also, the mechanics found that the transmission mounts needed to be replaced. Also, the front struts and the rear shocks needed to be replaced. Also, the front engine mount needed to be replaced. I had all that work completed for around $1,500. Then a few months later, the vehicle broke down in my front yard. I turned the vehicle off and looked under the hood and the serpantine belt was snapped in half and the vehicle was smoking a little bit. A had the vehicle towed to the mechanics for $50. The mechanics diagnosed the powertrain. The mechanics found that the a/c compressor clutch needed to be replaced and it also had to have a evac and recharge the a/c system. This costed me $705. 98. A few months later, which is now, on 12/21/2012, the vehicle is starting to make a loud clicking noise from the engine, or atleast I think it is the engine. While I was driving, the vehicle slowed down like there was a power surge or something, like it was going to brake down, so I immediately put the hazard lights on and drove 15-20 miles below the speed limit, all the way until I could make it safely back home. I don't know what is wrong with it this time. I have already invested almost $2,000 into this vehicle and I have only owned it for about 3 months!.
2000 Ford Windstar van, I think when Ford made these vans , so many of the part was defects , that's why so many recalls , there are 12 recalls on the van and more to come, please recalls the Windstar , not just part but the whole car before more deaths occur , there's some thing serous wrong with this van , with all the noise under the front , and the steering, the van some times smells like some thing is burning , I check all the fluids and the smell is still there, transmission problems , the van has had more then one tranmission that I know of replaced, the door pop open while driving( side sliding door) , please recall the whole van, don't let our children lives be in danger .
A/c system was found to be totally low on freon. After replacing freon, it was observed that the rear ac low pressure pipe had a leak located next to the rear driver's side wheel. There was nothing in this area that would have caused this pipe leak to occur, such as another pipe rubbing against it or other form of friction. It is assumed that the pipe was structurally defective.
During a trip on the highway at approx. 70 mph the abs light came on and stays on as long as vehicle is being driven until its restarted again and cycle continues.
Ford Windstar 2000 abs ecm failure. Abs light comes on. Any recall notice?.
While driving the vehicle I felt the rear axle bend.
My 2000 Ford Windstar sel with only 40,000 miles placed my family in extreme danger due to mechanical failure, on December 30, 2003. The transmission literally "broke" while I was in the process of taking a left turn onto a 5 lane highway. I had four children in the van with me, and my van gave no indication of transmission trouble prior to this incident. I thought I had been rear-ended, that is how strong the impact was. After searching the internet for answers, (why would a vehicle with only 40,000 miles violently quit?) it became quite obvious to many consumers that the Ford company has known for many years the deficits with their Windstar transmissions. It is a crime for the Ford company to continue to sell their product as a family safe vehicle, when they know full well the danger families are in. Again, it is only the safe driving of others on the road that day that prevented Ford from having the death of 5 family members on it's record. I am surprised that a class action suit has not been filed yet? perhaps one is in process currently? I intend to find it, and add my name to it.
