Takata recall - air bag light is on. Problems with turning of steering wheel. Could not perform complete turns. Steering will stop halfway during turns. After review it appears that the airbag is coming through steering column. Van currently not drivable.
The contact owns a 2000 Ford Windstar. The contact stated that the engine would not shut off after several attempts. In order to shut off the engine, the contact disconnected the distributor cable. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who stated that the failure may have been attributed to a defect within the steering column. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer would not offer any assistance. The current and failure mileages were 150,000.
Consumer states while traveling without any indication vehicle lost all power steering. Dealer was contacted and replace steering rack pump and pulley. Please provide further information. Ts.
