I have a 2001 Ford Windstar se. All at once my abs and brake light came on. A week later the speedometer stopped working. Now the speedometer works for a fee days then quits. I took it to midas and they told me to take it to a dealer. They said there are no recalls.

My abs lights brake lights on the instrument panel come on and stay on and the odometer has no reading and the speedometer does not work. The vehicle drives fine.

3 Instrument Panel problem

Tl-the contact owns a 2001 Ford Windstar. The contact stated that while driving 70 mph, the vehicle stalled. The contact stated that there were no lights illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was safely maneuvered to the shoulder and towed home. The vehicle was then taken to an authorized dealer and the contact was informed that the actuators for the door locks were bad and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 110,000. The VIN was unavailable. Sm.

4 Instrument Panel problem

The contact owns a 2001 Ford Windstar. The contact stated that she noticed smoke emitting from the instrument panel. The brake and abs lights then illuminated. The dealer stated that the vehicle was not included in any recalls. The contact called the manufacturer who offered no assistance. The vehicle had not been repaired. 5 Instrument Panel problem

Failure Date: 09/25/2009

We could smell smoke in our van, and the instrument panel was going crazy (warning lights coming on, speedometer fluctuating between speeds). We took it in and found that the abs module had shorted out because of brake fluid dripping onto the module and was slowly shorting out other wires and sensors, which could have caught fire. They are charging us to replace the abs module and the engine wire harness because of the fried wires.

6 Instrument Panel problem

The contact owns a 2001 Ford Windstar. The contact stated that the air conditioner failed, the speedometer displayed a reading of zero and the anti lock brake light illuminated on the instrument panel while driving. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the contact was informed that the vehicle needed a new electrical system. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, but offered no assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 100,000 and the current mileage was unavailable.

7 Instrument Panel problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2008

Both abs and brake warning lights come on intermittently and stay on until engine is turned off. Has occurred when starting engine, or while driving. On several occasions, 15amp fuse #10 has blown out, causing instrument panel gauges (speedometer and odometer) to turn off. Replacing fuse has not stopped problems from occurring. Running diagnostic tool on abs module displayed codes c1185, c1194, c1210, c1214, c1242, c1246, c1250, and c1254. Other owners have reported that identical problem resulted in engine fires.

8 Instrument Panel problem

Failure Date: 09/02/2007

The contact owns a 2001 Ford Windstar. While driving between 20 and 70 mph, the abs and brake lights illuminated simultaneously on the instrument panel. The failure has been occurring only in warm weather. The indicators remained illuminated until the vehicle was shut off. The contact stated that the brakes were operating normally. On one occasion, the contact smelled an unrecognizable odor. The current mileage was 81,209 and failure mileage was 80,650.

9 Instrument Panel problem

Failure Date: 05/18/2005

The abs and the red brake light came on the instrument panel. Had the computer or something reset a couple of times but the lights keep coming on. Been doing this for a number of years.
