Brake Abs Warning Light problems of the 2003 Ford Windstar - part 2

In addition, the contact stated that the brake pedal required excessive force in order to come to a stop on several occasions. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed that the brake pads and the vacuum hose needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure persisted. My abs light keeps coming on, my mechanic said that my abs braking system could be inoperable with the light on. I feel that this is another failing part that Ford needs to issue a recall for.

Abs light is on as well as check engine light. Car is idling rough. Checked with numerous car repair places with no success. Also, van is pulling to the right even after I changed tires and did alignment check !.

My abs lights and traction control warning lights come on and abs system seems to be engaged when no braking is happening. When brakes are engaged the braking seems to take a lot longer. Abs module has defective solder joints causing many system failures. Failure happens when stationary.

I was driving along on the freeway about 65 mph and I hit a small bump and the abs warning light came on and since then it won't shut off.

I saw there's a recall on the Ford Windstar abs system? (I have 2003) in 2010, I complained to my Ford dealership that the abs and break lights on the dash were flashing on and off, that it happens all the time. On that ticket they wrote, "no action", meaning they did nothing and said nothing about how to fix it. I just got back from Ford dealership yesterday where I'd complained again about the same issue because now it's been 3 years of flashing lights. . . And they said "OH, you need a whole new abs system, that part is $2800. 00 and that does not include labor!!! really? too bad my warranty is now expired. Would have been nice to get that done when I complained the first time and had that expensive warranty in place. Is this in fact a recall or do I have to pay for a new abs system?.

Driving my 2003 Ford Windstar periodically the abs light will come on then go off , after approx 25 to 30 miles of driving I will lose my pressure in my brake pedal and there is very little brakes. If you shut van off let it sit it will be fine until u drive again another 20 to 30 miles , also it will come on after 5 to 10 miles of driving and will not go off until van is shutoff , then at times the abs light wont come on until more miles are driven , I brought the vehicle to a repair shop and a code c1185 came up , I took to Ford due to the fact it is a safety issue and they said its not warrantied , in a post on computer it states that code c1185 should be warrantied under Ford , this is very disappointing as a Ford owner and the safety of my family , due to the fact the van is excellent cond and the only prob is this , im scared to have it looked at due to the fact I prob couldn't afford to have it fixed.

Brake and abs dash lights are on intermittently.

Abs warning light comes on randomly, and will not go off until I turn the engine off; dealer told me it was some sort of problem with the abs control module shorting out and sending a signal to the dashboard indicator light, but since it comes on every time I drive the car almost, I now never know whether there is a problem with my brakes, or it is just the warning light acting up.

I have a 2003 Ford Windstar sel. The vehicle has been having an intermittent problem with the abs light coming on after start up and also while driving. The vehicle was brought to a local Ford dealer where I was told the abs module would need to be replaced. After receiving a quote for $800+ , I decided to search the internet to see if this may be a common problem. Come to find out, this is a very common problem and no one has had luck with fixing the issue (not even the dealers). I do not feel that a known problem like this should be the responsibility of the consumer. Ford should acknowledge that there is a problem and at least offer info on how to get it repaired correctly or fixing it themselves. This is one of many Ford vehicles in which we have had over the years and is by far the most problematic. No repairs have been attempted due to a lack in trust in dealers and part not being covered by extended warranty. Judging by the info on the internet, it seems like it is mainly problems with vehicles from the northern united states.
