Notified by Ford motor CO. About a volunteer recall for the inspection and repair or replacement of the rear axle for my 2003 Ford Windstar. Dealer found no cracks and applied anticorrosive material and reinforcment brackets. I believe that it's poor design is the sole reason for it's failure and this "temp" fix is only putting of the inevitable. Ford should be mandating that all Windstar's affected on the road should have an axle replacement free of charge.

2003 Ford Windstar xl was taken into a Ford dealership , the rear axel was cracked in four places and concerned unsafe to drive. It has 57,000 miles on it. I am 79 years old . The van is garaged kept . The van was bought for my husband to get around as he was in wheelchair. Now deceased 5 years.

I own a 2003 Ford Windstar & the rear axle broke in two while driving. I have taken it to a Ford dealership to have it repaired. Just 3 weeks before I had it at that same dealership for service & they charged me to "shim" the rear wheels as they said it wouldn't align properly.
