1 Conventional Parking Brake problem of the 1999 Ford Windstar

Failure Date: 06/01/2000

Parking brake will not hold vehicle. Dealer (westlie Ford, camas wa) would not adjust it. I was told that the parking is not intended to hold the vehicle. It is only there to assist the "park" setting on the transmission! if the brake is not truly adjustable, then this is a design flaw.

2 Conventional Parking Brake problem of the 2000 Ford Windstar

Failure Date: 02/20/2000

The parking brake does not prevent the vehicle from rolling. Dealer & Ford cust. Svc. People tell me it works as designed. They say we must pull the brake handle all the way up to the stop for it to work properly. This will, in fact, prevent the vehicle from rolling. However, my wife can not pull the brake lever this far up nor can she disengage it if I pull it to the stop. The emergency brake system is not effective for the primary driver of the vehicle.

The body of the vehicle traveled approximately 200 feet until it stopped. 2)the rear brakes had to be replaced with new pads and rotors. Dealer couldn't explain why this was a problem. 3) the next day the right passenger mirror electical system no longer worked. 4)the parking brake consistently does not disengage after use. We no longer use it, possibly creating a safety hazard. 5) the vehicle intermittently stalls out at low speeds or upon stopping. Additionally the initial gears shift hard and loud. 6) the rear seat will not move on the track.

I am concerned about the warning lights on the dashboard. When driving this vehicle the abs brake light along with the emergency brake stay lit while driving and when the vehicle is being used. It also seems that the door ajar buzzer tends to keep sounding while driving. This is a hindrance while driving.
