Power Train Problems of GEO Metro

GEO Metro owners have reported 4 problems related to power train (under the power train category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Power Train problem of the 1999 GEO Metro

Failure Date: 08/28/1999

The local dealer declined to repair the speedometer. On record reported "no problems found" off the record they told me nothing can be done about it. I feel that by reporting inaccurate speeds because the speedometer needle fluctuates even when going at a constant (same) speed, the driver doesn't know the exact speed he/she is going. The problem with the window for the rear has been repaired 3 times and the sealant (urathane) continues to seep out because of outside temps. The windshield also shows evidence but not as bad as the rear back window. More problems are present with the vehicle but they have not yet cause any safety concerns.

2 Power Train problem of the 1998 GEO Metro

Failure Date: 02/09/1998

Transmission would require excessive effort to shift from first to second gear and putting it in neutral was worse when hot. Owner was told that there was a loose connection from the computer to the transmission.

3 Power Train problem of the 1996 GEO Metro

Failure Date: 01/13/1998

Vehicle's speedometer & odometer not working correctly due to a malfunctioning of computer chip. Would register a different speed or mileage. Engine light stays on. Dealer replaced odometer/speedometer, but not computer chip component.
